I’m getting destroyed by people who are good at rushdown, mostly because I’m still relying on assists for keepaway like I was in MVC2 and you just can’t do that in this game because assists get punished so hard that it’s not even worth taking the risk most of the time. It seems like there are no good “get off of me” assists because of the slower startup and lack of invincibility frames.
Haggar’s lariat assist is invincible but he loses life. It’s worth it.
Anybody interested in buying a Round 2 PS3 TE stick?
let me know!
Same here. I feel like the window for punishment is waaay less than what I’m used to in Super and I never played MVC2 for more than maybe 3-4 hours. I always feel like I’m too slow at seeing/recognizing an opening and the opponent (specifically x-23 and wolvie) can just throw a quick light and not only interrupt me, but go into some crazy combos.
On the plus side, I was having a great time last night with non real-world combos in training mode and got past 2 mil damage with Dormammu by himself. (not possible in actual matches due to using x-factor twice, but it was still fun as practice)
Haggar assist is mvc2 good. Completely invincible and can combo after. and hulk assist where he goes straight up is completely invincible afaik
what time were u thinking about playing. i dont have a car. so i wouldnt be able to make it to your house. it might just be better for us to wait until angelic announces east side gatherings.but if you really wanna play, let me know.
Armando, you should consider keeping gatherings at hazem’s. It’s definitely neutral to both sides which would deliver good, competitive gaming. I wouldnt want haz dojo die down from what’s it’s been getting. Just my opinion
Just stock your apartment with pussy.
Haz, let me know on thr gathering schedule. I’m so used to tuesdays.
problem is, is that some of us cant always make the trek out there everytime. but i understand what you mean. just like i didnt expect everyone to always make it out to east
luey fair enough. i dont think its any different tho skill level wise, its just different things to think about, different mindset. one is more chaotic, one is more methodical. different flavor different skillsets=)
^ cmmoooonnn! its way different!
Holy fuck I need to work on my guard skillz! playin on very hard (every match has been laggy, like the intro skips around and Im like, uuggghhh) but yeah and the computer was doin mission mode combos! i was like… fuuuuck! No lvl3 X factor sent yet, haha
Anyways, good practice for now on moving targets!
sure man we do it every Friday now from 8 pm till whenever. thought would make more people be able to show up and make it more fun for everyone and it’s the weekend too
armando, im not really in the market for a new stick, but if the price is right, i may stock up, what are you asking?
and on that note, mike you still wanting to sell your aiab stick, or is it gone already?
I gave Haggar another try earlier with the lariat assist. I really don’t like the loss of health, but I agree that it’s worth it. I was getting demolished by some guy who was extremely good at rushdown. Once I started using the lariat assist when he got close, it completely threw off his game and I won whenever I used it properly. His jumping down+heavy attack is really good and sets you up for an aerial combo whenever you land it. I need to figure out how to utilize his ground game, though. Any tips?
Munchi and Angelic: Can you elaborate more on the plans for east side gatherings?
Depends on how much
Also if anyone is interested on the east side is interested in playing mvc3 tuesday or wednesday night let me know. We can play at my place from 7pm to about 12pm. I’m on 44st and Indian School.
I second this motion
Also, Team ZIMA all the way!
Have you seen the Wednesday night fight tourney posted on the main page? There’s a good Haggar in there to learn from. His pipe and ground blockstrings have high priority. You can cross up with Sentinel assist and dropkick for a mixup game.

I have sucked it up and moved to button config B but yeesh… I still want to process combos through the MvC2 side of my brain.
The keep away in this game makes Team Scrub look boo boo.
I am starting to like wolverine more than I thought I would.
hahahahah…
it took my like a solid week before I found a team I really enjoy playing. for the record I still think your team should consist of MODOK, dormannu, and taskmaster, maybe arthur…
My team that I think I might be settled on looks nothing like what I thought it would. I am still not sure about one member, but I have found two that I am going to keep messing with based on their assist chemistry alone. Sadly it isn’t Tron Bonne.
Going to have to find a different team to fit her onto somewhere down the line since I enjoy playing her, but can’t find an assist combo that really seems to work for me.
*After testing this team out a bit more, I think I have decided. I still suck horse cock when it comes to this game though.
Also, I don’t enjoy how MODOK or Arthur play, despite liking the characters a lot. Dormammu I sort of enjoyed.
