AZ Thread: Lots of events! Read 1st posts for upcoming AZ tourneys/events

Regardless of who is on the mic, we need to concentrate more on commentary for the actual matches.

Bullshitting is fine during casuals but during “real” matches we really need to make sure the people on the mic pay attention. People aren’t going to watch the stream if they’re just hearing comments about stuff in the background they aren’t in on.

Plus, we in the fighting game community enjoy shit talking in general but when almost everything on the mic is negative like Saturday it probably makes it hard to watch.

Glad to see the threads back up. It looks super clean.

Good times saturday night, fellas. Glad to see ranbat players showing up to hazem’s crib.

Good shit to hazem, and reece. the quality of tourney setup and stream is progressing quickly!

I have some great ideas on future tournaments in the coming month. I’ve gotten the ok from the haz, and now I’m just finishing the final touches before team hazmat announces it. Trust me, it’s going to be huge!

I’m not sure how many people got to try out the headphones while commenting, but for those who did… Was it better to do commentary with them on? Please give me feedback on this matter before I invest in another headphone setup.

Thanks

I didnt get to witness tristan on the mic on saturday. But im sure i have an idea of what was said. After chillin with you and paul and ekim on saturday, it just seems that you guys are really negative about almost everything we talked about that night. You guys had some valid points, about people getting way to mad about losing, or something like that. What i think you guys dont understand is, it doesnt really matter how bad , or how good you are at the game. if you Play the game competitively you take it at an emotional level. No matter who your are, the reason why we play competitively is for that emotional feeling we get. Either when we win, lose, learn something new, so on. I remember at DEV last year, i blew up and threw my stick because it paused by mistake, and i lost the round, which made me lose the match (maybe). It happens with anything you are emotionally attached to, psychical or not.

What i have gathered from that particular group is that their a bunch of haters really, hell i used to agree with them to a certain degree but now from those kind of people they just see the stream failing because of the how bad our players are in AZ(their opinion). We do have some over rated players like Armando who Luey should really not be losing to or anyone for that matter. That fool just presses buttons like crazy with out protecting his assist or point character, and then Dorm wrecks shop cuz no one puts in the time to counter that fuck. MeanMeanPork well like Armando gets as far as he does in tournies cuz of his anchor really gimmicky(not hating just putting you on blast<3). Anyways theres a lot of room for improvement like lets stop dropping combos, get a fucking haircut ect, learn character match ups!

Where the fuck is Logan at, that kid wrecked shop Saturday night!

Yeah, Logan did us proud lol. Me and him and Probo all train together and he tried to get us to come, but we bitched out :frowning:

I’m going to try and make it next weekend though, shit looked like fun.

As opposed to talking shit about people, we really need to back eachother up and try to learn as much as we can from each other. Luey def tries to do this as much as he can. And reece used to help me out alot in sf4. we need more of this to up our game.

Oh i own Logan, so free. Mindfucked all day! Uncle Probo is garbage too, he’s been getting cute at those ranbats but wont show up anywhere else!

Yeah Logan is giving him shit. I guarantee he shows up next week.

I don’t mind my voicing my opinion. I basically said 2 things.

One to thing Arnul that is Hazem’s stream lack quality players. That’s one of reason why it will be hard to gain viewers. We aren’t SoCal, I think we all know that. Having 3-4 decent players people want to see doesn’t make due for other bad content. It also makes it really hard to comment on bad play. Also having people who don’t know or understand the game like UltraDavid, Keits etc… of course you are going to see a drop off in commentary from WNF. I haven’t seen Tristan’s commentary I don’t care to watch it. Every one knows Tristan is like that so putting him on the mic you get what you get.

EDIT : Also just wanted to say I think Hazem’s done a fantastic job with the stream. Glad to see someone else step up for the community.

  1. My other point which was really the only time I really talked to Munchi on Thursday was about players plateauing and never getting better. I used Dan as example beating Juicebox in SSF4. He was never able to mentally over come that match up. We have a lot of players that mentally plateau and will never get better.

If you guys call me negative for speaking the truth whatever I’ve done way more than my fair share to try to help this community grow.

people just salty as fuck cause they lose to dormammu anchor…
gotta admit my first two chars suck alot tho compared to drm… maybe I should just scrub it and play hulk and wolverine too.
LOL wolverine, hulk dormammu.

As a stream monster myself, I think the big thing we need to blow up the hazmat stream is just patience and regularity. I feel the option-select and ramnation streams have the same ratio’s of good to bad players we in AZ have. They just have been around a little longer, and got some promotion from some of the bigger name streams. So is we in AZ wanna blow it up, we just gotta try to get the word out on the bigger streams, and keep it up.

And regarding the MK9 casuals, I would hella be down for that. I think MK if phenominal, and would just need…a ride. </broken record>

EDIT:

And of course, as we stream more and play more we’ll all get better, which pulls more people in to the stream…

I’m actually going to take the initiative from surprise and drive all the way out to there to Haz on Saturday. I’ve always just bitched out last minute because gas is a killer for me on my end. I’m super free and it makes me sad :frowning:

Thats a good point. I dont think we can realistically blow up over night. Or within the first month or so. If we just keep up what we’re doin and keep Tristian off the mic, we will be fine. We improve more and more every week.

the front page was down so it didn’t help that people couldn’t find the link to it for Saturday’s streams.

@ekim. Yes i do think people can plateau . But i feel that has to do with the player. anyone can plateau, and anyone can break that plateau and start to do different things, and learn different things, and improve there gameplay.
Also i think we should still commentate on the stream, and well will start to get better the more we do it. ultradavid and keits didnt start out as amazing commentators from the get go. they kept at it and got better over time.

@Munchi, I think we have people who have potential to be good commentators . I was comparing to WNF because someone else posted that the commentary sucks after watching WNF. Ultradavid also benefits from having better players. There is only so much you can say when you are commenting on bad play. Even Charles Barkley says to NBA players when they suck. It takes someone with a vast amount of knowledge to commentate on bad matches. Face it no one watches bad players, just like you won’t see people watching bad NFL or NBA teams. It’s a much harder sell than SoCal streams. Once again I’m not defending Tristan, I have no idea what he said or did on the stream. I only assume because I know how he is and I wouldn’t let Tristan on the mic from more then a few minutes.

As for players, I see it like this way no matter how much you practice, how hard you work there are just most people who can’t make it to the next step. Some people are just more gifted than others. For example Kobe ( don’t include this season), you have people who are more athletic than him, people who work harder than him but they aren’t as good as him and never will be no matter how hard they try. Something about him makes him special, his decision making, his basketball IQ is just better. Very few people can get to his level.

Most people just aren’t capable of rising their fighting game IQ to the next level. Yeah their are exceptions to that rule some people can work really hard and place well but the leap to beat the best players is a giant leap. Some people can make that leap most people just plateau and can’t make it to the next step.

I’m really not trying to put people down. I’m not a “hater” like Arnul says, yeah I do have beef with people, I’m just realist, pessimistic, glass half empty kind of guy. I don’t like it when people put words in my mouth. I don’t actively root for people to fail, I’ll be happy for Hazem if I’m wrong he gets a 10,000 viewers. I’m not a afriad when asked to tell they suck when they suck, or say something is bad when it’s bad. I don’t care if people dislike me because of it, to each their own.

I likes the new forum!

On the stream, it takes time, and if you watch other streams there is a wide range of quality on players, the more we play and stream the better we all get, keep it up and don’t listen to the negative comments, if you want to get better you can, I like comma’s.

I am a hater.
I speak the truth as I see it. Opinions are like assholes, everyones got one and mine just happens to be stronger than others.

I am not sure if this is relevant but its a safe disclaimer. Unlike quite a few of you I do a fantastic job of separating fighting game stuff from regular life stuff. This means that unless explicitly stated, nothing I say in regards to fighting game related subjects should be taken as how I view you on a personal level. They are different. I have argued this over and over in this thread and only a few of you get it.

Example: On a personal level I like Arnul, I think he’s a cool dude. I’m glad we’re friends (if we’re still friends). On a gaming level I totally think he’s a hypocrite. I don’t think its very valid for him to say “don’t talk shit about az scene on the stream” and then turn around and do it in the forums. However I don’t hold his hypocritical nature against him personally, just in this context.

Example2: On a personal level I like Munchi. He’s one of the most awesome cats in AZ. However he is incorrect in his statement about the emotional involvement associated with fighting games. Applying the concept the everyone is simply wrong. I believe that emotional involvement can be higher in a competitive state, likely having something to do with adrenaline, but not everyone is ultra emotional when playing. Furthermore, I don’t think being in an emotionally intense situation is valid justification for irrational behavior. Throwing your stick ala luey/maynard/gootecks/etc mostly just exemplifies the amount of emotional instability that exists in this community. It is a game after all. Here’s a secret for anyone paying attention: With the exception of technical mishaps, ego’s are what drive angry players.

Concept: Streams don’t make good players. I am not sure who generated this idea, but it can’t be true. I mean if thats the case then good players didn’t exist… before 2009? Streaming solely showcases current talent. You don’t get better by streaming your content, unless someone is watching and criticizing. Which you don’t need a live stream to do. Players will get better from playing, but theres a plateau for that. It’s reaching that point pretty quickly. Out of the frequent visitors, Scott and Sean are the only semi unique players. However they are both fairly methodical. I think that the way the game is developed is the reason behind this, but it doesn’t take away the fact its true. Now, in regards to commentating, as I have mentioned before I have no problem not publicizing my opinion to the 30-40 people who watch the stream. It was funny as all get out to me, and I really do hope that no one was surprised by what I did or said. I would like to state that the reason why I over discussed my own terribleness at the game is so that no one would dare think that I was putting other people down because I thought I was better than them. I don’t think I’m better than anyone at Marvel, even if/when I do win I wouldn’t use this game to rank skill its too random.

tristen you need to watch your mouth. This is the last time I want to hear you mention anything about me on the forums. You bring that subject up too much for not knowing the whole truth. I can take good nature ribbing but you always tend to go overboard. Most of the times your cool and are interesting to have a conversation with (even when you are loud annoying and egocentric and that is most of the time you speak) but lately it has been too much. I hope you listen to the criticism your receiving and take a good strong look at your self and change your shit talking (even if YOU and you alone think its the “truth”) before you say something you cannot take back and regret the consequences of your words…

ON A MORE PLEASANT NOTE: Haz and Ty good shit with the website…!!! http://teamhazmataz.com/

I vote that angelic name should be change to DORMANDOOO…!!! with the 3 exclamation points and Os…

also RICK: i like the changes as well…

ps: Arnol(d) = Scrub
