right now it’s all about DHC glitch teams. NY and CA have incorporated it into their metagame with great results on WNF this week. Marn was doing some sick TOD Magneto/Zero stuff and then there was Tatsu who was doing some crazy X-23/Deadpool stuff. Apparently Diante told me Marn was using AE to get back to Magnus after Zero’s Sougenmu combo (I haven’t finished the stream yet so I’m not sure) so it looks like AE is going to be explored soon.
I came up with some solid teams using the DHC glitch. There is Wolverine/Spencer/Taskmaster who can actually blow all 5 meters in one combo (it’s overkill but it looks cool lol) but anyways Spence/Wolvie or Spence/Task can setup 1mil+ combo (1.4 for task). The THC for this team deals like 800,000 and it’s so easy to combo into it’s insane. I also used team Justin to see what I could do with that and came up w/ a semi loop dealing 1.26 million off of the first touch.

Seriously,one person speaking for everyone else lol. IMO its Sean/Scott/Dan everyone else is still random and gets beat by random shit. No one else really has a solid gameplay when playing, its all im gonna mash this>then combo>if it doesnt work then Xfactor that shit! It is very entertaining when noobs talk stupid shit lol.

Oh, are you the guy that I played on XBL last night? Sentinel, Doom, Phoenix?
Don’t worry about it, man. Like Arnul’s been saying, we’re all just doing random shit and hoping it hits, that’s the way the game’s been going lately. If you’re playing keepaway, which IMO relies more on reading your opponent than rushdown in this game, it’s gonna be naturally harder. Especially with all the teleports and shit. Our top 3 players have found teams with an impressive synergy and have been honing their offense and the rest of us haven’t gotten there yet or are still looking for their team of choice.
Glide’s right about the community being a good source of knowledge. The other night I asked about how to deal with runaway, and then they answered Hidden missiles and that shit worked! At the moment the game’s so young that alot of folks (myself included) don’t know the exact reasons why we win and thus don’t have a good answer for how to beat something. But sometimes it just takes that group think, you know?
Edit: Oh, and show up to tournaments anyway! It’ll be worse if you put all the practice into getting good at the game and then when you get there you can’t apply it due to tourney nerves.
It is a proven fact that people are motivated more by LOSS than REWARD. This is the motivation, psychologically, that “forces” people to avoid paying for/into things that they are reasonable certain they cannot win.
Example
If I told you to to 100 jumping jacks for $100 you might do it… if you had to do 100 jumping jacks or pay me $100 you would do it.
There are other factors at play that prohibit people from inclusion in free activities, where loss (financial) is not truly part of the equation, such as personal fears (ridicule, pride/ego, phobias, etc.).
So, that said, anytime peeps want to make a tournament more motivating for themselves, throw fifty or a hundred bucks into the pot… you will play exponentially harder to not lose that money and, at the same time, not un-motivate other players and scare them off from attending by their fear of loss.
Psychology lesson over…

Yeah the teleport mixups kill me. It’s something I didn’t have to worry about nearly as much in MVC2 and I’m having a hard time adapting to it. Doom’s Missiles help protect against it, but it’s a double-edged sword because if they hit Doom before the missiles come out, then they have a free combo. The only way it works is if Doom starts the missiles right as/before they teleport, so it’s really risky, especially against players such as yourself who basically never drop a combo. My Phoenix team was useless against you because you just kept snapping Phoenix in (which is what most players 3rd Lord and above tend to do), and I don’t have any answer to that. All they have to do is get in one mixup (not exactly hard to do in this game) before Phoenix can tag back out and she’s done. The Sentinel health nerf has really affected my team because now I don’t have as much time to build meter and there is less chance of Sentinel being alive when I tag in Phoenix. Dark Phoenix with the assistance of Sentinel Force and/or Hidden Missiles is exponentially better than just Dark Phoenix alone. If I have either of those assists still alive, I can do a Strider/Doom type lockdown (as Chalupakabra saw in some of our matches).

GG stick, crapped out on me today… I just got home and opened it up. The main cable is practically severed with wire(s) hanging out. The top 3 buttons aren’t working anymore… fml. Figures it held up all the way until I started to play winners and losers finals. I really should of swapped sticks. Really upset about that. Also thanks corey on tips on how to fix it… i’m gonna try that when I get the chance to go to home depot.

Yeah I kept trying to teleport with phoenix but it wouldn’t come out.
That’s why I kept just super jumping back and doing random normals in the air.

I was totally out of it today. Played the worse I’ve ever played so far. When I got the loop off at least I wasn’t dropping it but ran into some new matchups and kept running into the same stupid shit. The stuff that I did know about, I kept running into because I was trying to be aggressive and sometimes I just need to wait it out (yeah I’m really impatient lol)
I don’t think quickly enough either which is what I think makes me a horrible tourney player. I know I need to look at the team matchup and formulate a strategy but when the match starts all that goes out the window. Bleh I see why I quit playing fg’s in the first place.
