Well, if anything, I will be making a point to be practicing at gameworks on Thursdays when they have the time card deals going. So I hope to see the people who still have interest in the game showing up.

Gears 3 is pretty badass; nice to see my skill is right where I left it…in the gutter haha. I think the best KDR I had all night was like a 0.9. I started having way too much fun when I switched from TDM to KotH tho. Double-barrel is stupid powerful, but only if you’re dumb enough to let someone get too close to you. Right now I feel like the pistols (one of my favs from G1) are completely useless, which is sad.

Reece why do you hate on Gameworks? If its becuase its a dollar play I think thats a weak reason, those machines cost a shit load of money to acquire and then of course maintenance. If you go over seas every single game is at LEAST 1 dollar, including ST. It isnt the 90’s anymore the cost has gone up for everything. the reason Golfland can do 50 cents a game is that they dont rely on their arcade to generate the revenue, they focus on the water park/golf/events. If its another reason please let me know.
Side note, where the MK at? I want to start playing it more.
No offense to you SSF4 players but I think the ship has sailed with that game. Most people playing SSF4 casually has left to mvc3, mk9 or whatever other games has came out. IMO for the casual player, mvc3 mk9 are more fun to play than SSF4. Only people left would be the people who play that game really competitively or really like that game. There’s what maybe 15-20 people left, I think that’s high. I don’t think AE will change that. The game is old by todays standards. There isn’t enough changes for the casual player to come back. That just IMO.
Its a weak excuse cuz this would be a tourney, not casual. Shit would be on freeplay all day. On top of that, there would be more than ae, we would have mvc3/mk9. They allow us to use their equipment for tourney ,they fix their shit when needed, we can drink alcohol. I dont see what the issue is.
i would be down for the gameworks ranbats, but since its on sundays i cant attend. i have to work til 6 PM. i plan on hitting up gameworks on thursdays once im done with this semester for school. ill have some more free time on my hands
I don’t know where people are playing MK, but I’d like to get in on it. Some of the characters in this game are just broken, while others are absolutely terrible… lol
I know we’ll have at least one or two MK setups at both tournaments this weekend. So anyone coming out to those can expect some MK.
We discussed an MK tournament at the Sunday ranbat, but I don’t know if we decided on tournament or just casuals. If we do have a tournament it would probably be capped at 32 due to time constraints.
Then of course, we have two Bookmans MK tournaments coming up next month.
Ill try to make atleast one tourney, i really wanna play some mk
I discovered a 50% combo with ermac… no xray… and no jump in 
TBH I would much rather do MK this weekend than Marvel. I am really marveled out…
Also, I was thinking about reptile or kitana for my 2nd… and then I saw some potential combos.
Kitana for sure… bitch is good and hot!
Kitana has really high combo damage, but for most of them you need at least one bar (not a big deal). I came up with 49% in the corner with no meter, and I think 46% mid-screen with 1 bar, but depending on what you start the combo with, you can get up to 55% mid-screen with only 1 bar.
For the time being, Kitana is my main, but I don’t know how long that will hold. I’m currently using Kitana, Cage, Jax, Sonya and Liu Kang, with a side of Stryker, Raiden and Sub-Zero. I’m also planning to take a closer look at Sektor, Cyrax and Nightwolf. 
I guess I can only hope that won’t be the case. As someone that actually likes the game and likes taking it seriously on a competitive level, I do hope this game continues to thrive for a while. But I think you are right about MvC3 and MK9 being more casual friendly. I think the only thing that will really bring back some of the casual crowd would be some of the character buffs that AE will bring. A lot of people were turned off by how ineffective some of their pet characters were in Super, and now the entire cast is much more balanced on a whole.
But the fact that the game engine is still old to a lot of people will probably prevent a huge comeback when there are two new games to dive into.
I like ssf4, and ae. But my time is so limited. I been playing that engine since 2008, and i like mvc3. So my attention towards sf4 is almost non existent. Since my time is limited, i rather spend it on a new game and move forward. Plus mk got my interest. But with an unplayable online mode, it might not last long.
Contrary to popular belief. Ssf4/ae is still going very strong(maybe not here, as much). Its just mvc3 gets more attention on streams due to it being new and is also big
Oh, I totally believe it will go strong for a while around the world. But the attention it gets here really seems to have dropped right off and we are one of the few places in America with multiple AE cabs.
Yeah SF4 is still really popular in the states. It’s not as popular around the world as it is here. It’s never been. AE only brings 4 new character so the casual person that isn’t enough content changes to bring them back. Not like Super did. Plus there is more competition.
Like you said Scott people have been playing it since 2008 most of the casual are gone now. I’m interested in seeing which game is going to get more entries at Evo. I think mvc3 might but it’s hard to say.
