I had a lot of fun at Gameworks with all the great matches! I was that one Asian kid with the glasses that played Akuma. I rarely get to play much, so this was actually one of the few times I played different people outside of my friends, so it was a good experience.
I live way out in the West Valley, all the way out in Buckeye, so I won’t be to attend to a lot of meetups due to the distance. But I’ll try to make it to Gameworks every week or two to gauge my skill and be able to get to know everyone. Hopefully I’ll be able to make it to the Microsoft tournament today if transportation is viable.
But for most part, I really do want to improve both as a player and as a member of the AZ community as the year progresses.
Scott, even though we make less money, everyone has really been enjoying our 25 cent wednesday night. I just cut some holes in tupperware bins and people put in a quarter before they start. We have a 5 win streak max as well. We might go this route on every night we are open, but for now it works great on our wednesday nights. You guys might try something like that and use it for an overall pot of some kind.

Seriously though Scott is like the nicest person ever and he’s being completely honest about the improvement thing. The first time I ever played him and met him ever he gave me a ton of advice that I still use. I believe it was mostly “spam knee shot against Sakura and i’ll hate you.”

I’m on a break so I’m typing up a quick overall analysis of the matches last night.
Overall everyones overall problems was not having defense. I was just able to keep on you guys with no issues. It seemed like everytime I knock you guys down, I get another free combo almost everytime, without the need to jump. The Dan and guile player, I couldn’t do this on cuz they would always flash kick/dp everytime. Which is another bad habit. I’m going to punish those 90% of the time.
Just block, unless you get a good read.
The other problem, which is understandable, is not knowing when you can attack me. Everyone tries to attack when I have advantage, it fails, yet everyone keeps trying anyway…
This was another big problem for me. I was constantly getting caught in frame traps, and was maybe a bit too eager to get the hell out of that pressure. I definitely need more patience, but at the same time, I can’t just sit blocking in the corner and eating tick throws all day. I think I just need to learn to reckognize the holes in Sakura’s (and other characters’) pressure strings.
hahaha nice dude! Taunt 1 is pretty funny, if I ever taunt (which I don’t), I use taunt 7: “I…await you…” or taunt 5: “NINJA FLEX.” But yeah man, I’m always down to help people out, Guy is the only character I know really well; it took me two years to learn him, and I’m still learning more every day, he has setups for days lol, and it really angered me when I was learning him that there really weren’t many tutorial vids or proof of concept vids (Sabre), almost made me stop playing the ninja. I really don’t want people to run into the same struggles I had when approaching Guy, so please please PLEASE (extra hype on the PLEASE), ask me if you have any questions, that applies to all of you. If I can’t answer you’re question, I can supply with a resource that can. I by no means consider myself a good Guy player, but I would like to be the best Nike Ninja in the world some day. (OMGZ Nox2 & Kiryu Tsukimiya).
And yes people, listen to Scott, he notices very subtle, dynamic aspects of the game, and will always help you out should you ask for it (but as he said, you MUST ASK). Hell, he analyzed big weaknesses in my game at EVO within the first 5 minutes of meeting me haha, and he wasn’t my opponent, he saw me play for 1 round. And of course, he will always be there to tell you that there’s more to life than just being reallly really really really good looking
Like I said, in person, just ask and I will answer to the best of my ability. Same with rickdawg, he’s very observant with really small things. I might be a stronger player, but he’s Hella better at analysing matches and picking up things that I don’t even notice. He’s probably the best person here at observing flaws and patterns, imo
Yeah he is, rickdawg gave me a few pointers on my frame traps, and already I can notice a huge difference in my rushdown =D speaking of which, hey Scotty are you and Rick gonna be at Dormmando’s this wed? If not, I will be able to attend GW next thurs for matches. Hopefully by the end of next week I have my ASUS monitor, gotta get used to the timing on those monitors; I will also bring it with me so I can add another PS3 setup to the gatherings, just gotta get my PS3 fixed, as right now the second USB port is fried…anyone know a local place I can get it fixed?
