AZ Thread. hAZbats start this saturday! 1/21. Check First posts

Have them pay the house fee still and waive tourny entry instead?

Right now I think maybe you’ll get an 8-man tourney out of 3SO…better than nothing (and I really wish this game will take off but I’m being optimistic). Unless more of the “new” guys pick it up and we get some unknowns, then a 16 man one?

Also, I’m considering taking my Xbox setup on Friday, but only have component cables OR VGA; is that okay or do you guys only use HDMI with the monitors?

nah, cuz then that affects the pot. you definitely dont want that to happen. we did that at mwc once with people that brought ps3 setups for sf4, and people went ape shit

My understanding was if you brought a set up last time, you didn’t pay the venue fee but you still paid the tournament fees for whichever one you participated in, which to be honest, sounds perfectly fair and clear.

Haz, count on my set up this time once again.

@3S online

I am not entirely sure if I am even going to buy this game (due to lack of funds this week(s)), but I can probably tell you I won’t be entering any tournaments… maybe play some random casuals with friends.

people will care about the pot as same as I care about the Electric. I think we keep it as it is for now. People used to bring them setups already so I don’t see any reason making them wouldn’t want to bring it now specially while we have tournies with good payout with the new system that we r running in here and the massive ammount of casuals all over the place too.

I will bring Asus Monitor + 360 + AE, MvC3 and BlazBlue.

I also do not mind at all paying the door fee to help with electricity and whatever else.

@Haz…True. If people care about the pot as much, they should be willing to help with setups so such an incentive wont be necessary to get a decent amount of setups to run somethin like that. Minus a very few people in the scene, EVERYONE has at least a system, but are to lazy to bring anything (obviously a few of us arent in this category). Even if you bring a system and it doesnt get used, its not like you were gonna be playin it while youre at the tourny anyways…

@Armando…Not that you were going to…but, looks like cuttin back those hours aint such a good idea?

@Kyle…Way to step up!

hazem: thats fine. i was merely point out waiving the fee or discounting it cuz it would probably motivate people more to bring setups, you know? either way, im bringing my xbox. I will bring my monitor if my gf is done with it, by then

@ Angelic Hey I was wondering if I could possibly get your address for Wednesday Fight nights because I just watched my match from the stream and boy was I put on BLAST! and I want too improve I want to do better and I think for me going reguaraly too these wednesday fights would be good for me too get better experience in match ups i lack and just too chill and improve my skills so again if you would kindly give me your address I will see if i can make it out there

why capcom days on friday -.-

fridays work best for me cuz saturdays can get taken up by the gf. she works friday nights, so its always open to me heh

With having Tucson people comin on Friday for 3s I Must squeeze a 3s tourny in the middle so I will start bb early around 6 and then mvc3 then 3s then AE and I will make sure it runs on time

Haz, is there any way we can run tournaments at the same time? I feel like we’d be able to run 3s in the latter half of the BB bracket.

Fridays work best for me as well, I run the sandwich game Saturday nights ($150 TONIGHT SON!! =D). As far as setups go, I would bring my PS3, but one of the USB ports is burned out…but within a month I will have a new 360, ASUS monitor, and 360 AE copy, all of which I will bring to gatherings…AS WELL AS ULTRA 2!!! hahaha

I would agree with this, but I think both these games can start at the same time; at the original time slot (7pm).
I’m sure it won’t conflict with players running around to play their pools since both game have their respected scene.

i think hazem’s true goal, is to get all games on the stream. as long as there are enough setups, running one at a time, can work. and just starting the next game tourney towards the tail end of the current game(if the scheduled time for the game to start, is approaching, that is)

If you read the fine print, the selections you make for your “pools” are only your preference. We can actually seed you anyway way we like. It’s our intention to allow you guys to do all of that so you can’t complain about the seeding, but we could have easily just decided who would be in each pool. We felt the community would enjoy seeding themselves.

How was the AZ MK scene invited? By a post on SRK? By a Facebook event that was sent out to SRK members? Nice way to connect with the MK scene. Most of the MK players don’t post here.

And yes, your statement was uneducated. You looked at the showing from ONE Capcom event and determined that MK players aren’t dedicated and have no scene. If that’s not uneducated, I don’t know what is. Why don’t you ask what the normal MK turnout is before you make such statements?

As I’ve stated on multiple occasions, the MK scene has weekly tournaments/gatherings where we get 10-20 players, excluding the east side people since most of them don’t travel to the west side.

The Capcom scene as a whole tries to cater to the MK scene, but not the Capcom scene in AZ. In ALL my time on SRK, I have NEVER felt the Capcom AZ scene cared about ANY 3D fighter or MK.

The excuses that came up afterward? None of the MK community planned on going. Hardly any of them were even informed of the event and the ones who were simply didn’t feel welcomed. Get off your high horse!

Was this statement really necessary?! How many MK tournaments have you been to? I’ve been to at least a dozen since the game released and not a single one had less than 12 people… that’s including the MvC3 ranbats where MK wasn’t even the main event. At every MK-focused event, we have at least a 16-man bracket almost every time.

This is the kind of elitist shit I was talking about before. The AZ Capcom community just shits on other games at every opportunity. It’s not the entire community, but it’s the vocal majority.

Haz has been trying to get in touch with me to bring the MK scene out to his place, but after seeing retarded comments like these, it’s not even worth the effort.

heres the thing. you read this thread bryan. you knew there was a tourney, you made your opinions on it too, you like to defend the mk scene, and thats fine. my problem is, why didnt you post up on tym or trmk and let them know, to help spread the word? Should hazem posted it up on those sites? sure. but howcome you didnt spread the word?

we are not being elitist. wtf. we shit on our own games too. just like you constantly shit on our games we like, in our face at our tourneys, on a constant basis. so dont act like your shit dont stink bro, you always have a smug elitist attitude towards a lot of the scenes that isnt tekken,sc and probably mk9 now. stop getting so overly emotional with the “waaah retarded online comments make me not want to go to events.” stop crying and man the fuck up and show other people that mk has a scene. pouting and not showing up cuz of a joke comment here and there doesnt prove anything to anyone

That doesn’t really explain how the BB players heard wind of this and still came out as opposed to MK9. Do you really think they cared if they felt out of place there when the event specifically said “SSFIVAE, MvC3, and MK9 tournament?” The event wasn’t just for Capcom games, it was for the unity of AZ players for all games. Capcom games just has a bigger showing because predominantly it’s always been like that. I think this is the start of something big and that you shouldn’t get discouraged or mad because of some trivial jokes. Sabre said it best, it’s time to man up and stop looking at these things as “Capcom events” cause they aren’t.

Theres two types of people in this world.
People who bitch and complain and never try to do anything about it, and then there’s people who man the fuck up and do something.
People from the MK Scene knew this shit was going down. Maybe not the entirety of the community but at least a few did, clearly you dr.dog.
Why didn’t you help spread the word? why not post up a link or tell them what kind of stuff is going down?

What the fuck did you expect to happen if you did nothing to help the word get out to your MK scene about a MASSIVE gathering? I hope it was nothing because that’s exactly what you got. It’s not your job to promote the tournament that happened at Hazem’s place, but you damn better not be bitching to us if you did nothing to help. You don’t get that right if you just sat there and complained about it without lifting a finger or writing a post.

I think it’s funny you shit on SRK and the “CAPCOM” scene for not catering to other games when we hosted a massive blazblue tournament that day. As Robawtninja stated, the blazblue scene MANNED UP AND DID SOMETHING about it and came to a tournament titled “AE, MVC3 and MK” and ran their shit without a hitch or any bitching. It was awesome.

I really hope more people form the MK scene read SRK because your a terrible face to their community. As for if my other comment was necessary, of course not, but that’s where my sparkling personality comes in  !
