I’ve been playing it a bit since it came out, but I’m having a hard time finding people that don’t suck. I’m 750ish on the leaderboards (Steam name is Immak`) but getting kinda bored. So much so that I’ve specced my Voltar strictly into damage (except for inverted healing ray, because I’m not retarded) - explosions on his drones with the cooldown reduction on warp-gate is hilarious, so many kills.
Anyway, I definitely still prefer this on console, so I’m hoping they don’t actually ditch support =(
Looking forward to seeing more of Gnaw. The more characters, the better. I would love to see another map thrown in to the mix, too.
^Why do you prefer it on console? I was actually going to get the PC version because I see it having a longer shelf life there and more free crap (screw you Microsoft).
I figured I’d advertise this Kickstarter here since you guys obviously like multiplayer 2D action games.
MERCENARY KINGS
The team behind Scott Pilgrim and Wizorb are making a new 2D action game in the style of Metal Slug but with lots of modern sensibilities like weapon crafting. This kickstarter will get you a digital copy for $15 along with a copy of Wizorb. Also, I really do feel for the programmer being surrounded by artists and I know how much easier things are when you have more programmers on your staff. Anyway, I’d really like to see this take off as we probably all like Paul Robertson’s art and these guys know 2D games.
Well, the main reason is that I find it to be harder on consoles- possibly a combination of the controls being too good (aiming one way and running the other way, for example), and it really genuinely seems like there are a lot more bad players on PC. I finish games faster, they’re a lot less back-and-forth and pretty much just a steamroll. Average game lengths seem to be about 8 minutes, and I’m not playing with a premade crew or anything. I also notice lag a lot more on PC. Oh, and cheaters seemingly floating outside of the maps with CoCo and throwing lightning balls into the base.
So anywayyyy… I’ve been playing on PC because Ronimo has basically said, “Fuck you, console players (who basically funded our PC version in the first place).” Shitty deal, IMO, but hey, the game is still fun.
The strangest thing happened this weekend. I got accused of hacking (which I guess is not that abnormal - I’m in the top 200 of some 60000+ players, and a very effective Voltar), but… well, just look:
This is how it started:
Simple enough. He said I was hacking, and said he was gonna report me and send logs from the game - - common procedure. I challenged him to do it, and added him to my friends list so he could track the progress of his reporting . Then this is where it gets weird…:
Someone admitted they were wrong. On the internet. And they apologized.
What in the flying fuck?
It was so rare that I felt obligated to respond, and messaged them back and told them they were really big to come back and admit it like that. I thought that was pretty cool, and kinda renewed my faith a little in current gamers, lol.
So now that I’ve necro’d this thread with my own “cool story, bro”, anyone else in here still play?
edit: also, in hindsight, I realize how cheesy it is that we were playing Awesomenauts and I told them that they were awesome. That was not planned, but I deserve to be flogged for it all the same.
edit: also, that fucker killed me while I was typing and made me rage. Fuuuu.
That is pretty cool of that dude to admit his mistake. Did you have drones blow up on him after you teleported?
I only really play when I see at least of my friends on, both of them are at like 200 - 400 range while I am back at 800. But both of them are playing Borderlands 2 recently so no Awesomenauts for me.
I haven’t played this game in a while…never have anyone to play with. A buddy of mine just got a PS3 so I’ll tell him to get this shit so I have someone to play it with.
Rampage - At least dude was cool enough to admit he was wrong and apologize for it.
They’ve done a whole bunch more updates on PC. They’ve introduced matchmaking by leagues (essentially, badges that are relative to your placement on the leaderboards), so the games are a lot more fun now that it is working properly. The network stability seems better now. It’s a lot more enjoyable overall.
I still wish they’d patch the console version. It’s been suggested that they do a Kickstarter campaign since people thought that publishing costs on X360 were the main concern, but that doesn’t seem to be the case anymore. The latest I’ve heard is that DTP won’t publish it or some shit. Very annoying, because I want to go back to playing couch co-op with my friends on the weekends without moving my PC into the living room again.
Still love the game. Just wish there was a better situation for console gamers. I almost feel like I’m part of the problem, since I’ve supported the PC version. =(
Yeap, last time that will happen to me. Third time in total this has happened? I blame both Microsoft and the Developer though and hope that future consoles ease it out.
Maybe Nintendo’s Wii U will be more supportive to smaller developers when it takes off.
How does yuri’s fly work these days, just picked up the PC version and ti seems like yuri can’t possibly die anymore since he can just fly up into the sky and you can’t stop him.
edit: also any gnaw tips/builds. I’ve been running early turret then prioritize bite DoT/Heals. Set up turret to either push, or defend, or if neither are particularly necessary I set 'me up to farm neutral camps for me for free. Super funny getting healed mid fight when a bunch of neutrals spawn, on top of my heals from bite.
That is very likely the worst way to play Yuri, you lose the vast majority of what makes him good doing any if that and are basically just a mine machine with fair damage that’s easy to avoid.
