Sounds like I cut a little aggressively…
How durable is the color on these things? I’m wondering if a coat of clear would be needed to protect the finish.
Thx again for throwing one in w/the red aluminum bat top I bought from you! I couldn’t find any red one’s in the 7-11’s around my area.
Awesome thread!!!
For those of you wanting to buy pre-cut ones send me PM’s.
PM’ed Looking for full set.
Anyone figured out if there’s any way to get these to fit an LS-32 yet?
There’s this from another thread.
Hopefully Image quotes aren’t a big deal in this particular case since it’s quoting from a completely different thread.
I’m currently on vacation and I found a 7-11 near my hotel that sells the straws. I try to buy them tonight, but they would not scan. Unfortunately, the incompetent employee could not manually input them as a dummy item at 99 cents, but for some reason he was able to do it at $1.99 (WTF?).
I’m gonna go back tomorrow and see if a different employee can ring me up properly.
Ragnorok64 - thanks for the quoting the picture in another thread. I wonder if fireatwill had to dremel the inside of the straw to be able to put over the LS-32.
That is actually not LS-32-01.
It is JLF with Dust Disc of LS-32-01.
Yes, confirmed by Post below.
the joystick in my picture is a JLF, i just used a ls-32 shaft cover. fitting these straws on a ls-32 shaft will take some work since you’d only be leaving about .5mm metal on the straw if you’re able to do it.
straws are a little smaller than 11 mm in diameter with about 9mm inside diameter, leaves 1mm material thickness. The ls-32 shaft is about 10mm in diameter.
If anyone wants any red whole straws, I’ve got 5. Also, I pre-cut a few of them already if anybody wants those also…5 green, 7 blue, and 9 each of red, pink, gold, purple. All made to JLF size. PM me for these.
I decided not to make too many since most of you got the hang of it.
Also, If you use a pipe cutter, after you measure for you pieces, wrap the sections with masking tape. That way you avoid the rollers on the cutter from scratching the surface.
One last thing. LS-32 is gonna be a no go. I was able to grind out a whole straw to size, but then it’s too weak to cut. I crushed the straw several times with very little pressure on the cutter. Grinding out each piece takes way too long and I just don’t have the time to do it .
GAHHHHHHH LS-32 users always get hosed on shaft covers.
I wanted three of those otherwise, because those would’ve looked hot on my sticks.
Thanks JDM, that does look hot!
What did you use to grind down the inside of the straw? Even though it would still be weak, you could grind down the straw after it is cut down to size.
thanks for the heads up on the tubing cutters. think I’ma go snag one of those soon.
Another note on using a tube cutter (based on my experience): The rollers left a mark on the anodizing. Its likely that this part gets covered by the joystick case. I still wanted to avoid this mark so I wrapped the cut location in 1-2 layers of electrical tape before cutting. This basically trades off the scratch for some tape goo on the shaft.
If anyone wants to see me both a blue and red one PM me.
any one with a maverick instead of a 7 11, they are selling the same straws for their chiller drinks 99 cents. my wife picked me up 2 of them and they fit great on the jlf
Still looking for these and no one has responded to my PMs…
