How do you counter throws. All this game seems to be is who can get the most throws off. When I’m cornered, there’s no way I can avoid being thrown.
Any help on this? Keep in mind I’m new to this game ;)

For the record, you are gonna have a much harder time avoiding them online compared to online.
hmm, so you can’t technically avoid them, just make them do less damage?
You can soften the throws (:r: :hp: within 13 frames of the throw) and in some cases use a reversal attack (dragon punch, upkick etc…)
You avoid throws by not getting thrown.
You don’t get thrown by learning the fundamentals: zoning/spacing and footsies.
pfft scrub talk!!!
unless they changed it in hd remix, you have one frame coming out of block stun where you can throw them, and can’t throw you. and if you do it a little late, you’ll at least tech their throw. I guess basically if they stop poking just for a second (two crouching lks for example), within throw range of course, try to throw them. I remember having a hard time (vanilla ST) adjusting to how you could throw people while they look like they’re still in blockstun. Have yet to play remix though.
dont jump
you cant get airthrown if your not jumping
Wait dude my head hurts
nono, its a zen thing… when you are online, it will always seem harder than…
eh nah he fucked up
Once you learn to transcend your consciousness, you will begin to realize that your consciousness is your consciousness.
Thus, both to throw and to be thrown are but facets of your imagined self; only then will you truly understand what is “throw.”
(calming mindwaves)
You are wise young frog:china:
If you play your cards right, you won’t have to avoid throws. Throws will avoid you!
Ayo you inexpensive dairy product mule I better get my free round or else…
In soviet russia, gief zones YOU!
The more you play the game the more you get used to small things like throws. You start to see when throws are coming, or at least have a sense as to when your opponent might throw. You also get a sense of when you should throw your opponent. Once you get to this point, you’ll tech throws more often, and sometimes throw your opponent before he or she throws you. Zoning was previously mentioned. That’s the best strategy. Your opponent obviously can’t throw you if you’re out of range. So when I’m playing DJ against some Gief, I try to keep him at 3/4 to full screen away so that no matter what he does, I can keep him out of throw range.
If you’re in a corner and you know someone wants to throw you, DON’T BLOCK THE FIREBALL. Seriously, it’ll just put you in block stun and bam! Tick throw. Jump and kick or something on the way down to force them to block/get a hit while they’re trying to walk up and throw.
Course, if the person you’re playing with is actually good, he/she will DP/air throw you if you jump. Then you could try throwing them in that one frame you have between blocking a fireball/hit and them throwing you, but if you can’t see throws coming to begin with, you’re not good enough to do that (Hell, most of us can’t do a throw in that one frame so don’t fell bad).
If you’re playing someone that good, either level up quick or get the KY jelly out so it’s not a total rape.
ROFL im meant online vs offline :bgrin:
