Well she was tomboy and she kept it real.
Nah toph was the tomboy who wanted to be girly but couldnât due to her condition. Any frustration or irritation she might have expressed was justified and understandable since sheâs unable to be what she wants to be.
Katara on the other hand was just emotionally chaotic with borderline evil tendencies on a seconds notice. If the writers wanted her to transition to the lead villain in the course of 1 episode it would feel perfectly organic and like a natural progression of her character. Personally it would have been amazing if she was the lead villain this time aroundâŚtalk about a end boss you legitimately want to see beaten down lol.
Iâm gonna go with bitch. I think a lot of people try to justify or find meaning for the behaviors for their favorite characters and then tend to not try to do the same for characters they donât like. Itâs natural though. Sometimes you just like who you like and there doesnât always have to be a rational reason for it. It is what it is. But Toph was definitely a bitch. At least she owned it I suppose, except other than a few occasions.
The pilot episode was pretty good. I still got chills when watching the opening even though I had already seen it. I liked the ending credits too. The leak might be the only time weâll get to see them until the DVD release cause Iâm sure Nick is gonna shove it off to the side and play some ad for one of their shows during it.
Yeah, no. It is not a case of people defending their favorite characters it is just that Toph is simply not a bitch. If you were to classify her character with an insult then it would be ââToph is a dickââ.
Ehh, I guess weâre just arguing semantics I suppose. Dick, bitch, theyâre all the same to me.
im not justifying though cause i honestly didnt care for any females on the show. i liked sokka and zuko and hella side characters that werent around long lol. toph really wasnt a bitch she was just tough/asshole. it can be easily mistaken for the twoâŚshe wasnt a dick for no reasonâŚunlike katara. She just kept up a barrier til she got to know people. katara was a bitch even to people she was friends with.
No we are not arguing the same thing.
You call someone a bitch it implies feminine characteristics- bitchy, irrational, whimpy, etc.
You call someone a dick it implies masculine characteristics- insensitive, bully, crude etc.
well Katara had her place but her actions in several places throughout the story were questionable. Toph I say was a hardass and her sense of humor kinda reinforced that but never really made any actions in the show that were really questionable (besides the thievery con in season 3 and even then Katara went along with it too)
I suppose because of how you see each girlâs life was beforehand explains it all.
I guess it would have been better for me to say that theyâre both unpleasant, which is what anyone, whether theyâre acting bitchy or dickish, usually is. I definitely wouldnât want to be around people like Katara or Toph. They tend to be way too abrasive. There comes a point where too much is just too much.
Toph is a tomboy though, and being a dick is way better then being a bitch anyways. Toph never came across as evil while katara did multiple timesâŚalso anyone else notice that all the female leads were emotionally unstable and only sakâs gf was normal.
\ just finished the first episode. its good i liked it. Excited for more.
Was that Steve Blum i heard? If so dope.
you are correct sir
The first episode was on tv already? Or are you guys using the internets to steal it?
I am pretty sure itâs the latter. Imma just wait til itâs on television. Katara was baller in the third season. Painted Lady getting it done in that last battle against crazy haircut.
Steve Blum does no wrong and now just ups the quality of this new show more.

Well that was a fun episode, the writing was good, animation amazing and story really cool. Korra didnât come off as too bratty or anything(I was worried they might take the ârebelliousâ teenager thing a lil too far), and I felt genuine sadness when I realized save a few, all the characters from the old show are dead. And every time they showed the statue of aang, I held back a manly tear lol. All the new characters were very like-able, tenzin is cool(if a lil more serious that what Im accustomed to from airbenders lol), tophs daughter seems like she will butt heads with the Korra all season, which should be fun, and Im hoping mako and his brother bring something cool and interesting in episode 2, plus I loled when Katara got cut off from telling what happened with zukos mom. Honestly though, no real complaints here, the episode wasnât perfect by any stretch of imagination, but I can literally find nothing to complain about. While Im certain were gonna be seeing more of the anti-benders, I hope we see more of the triads cause I think there is some potential there as well.
Plus I think Im seeing where the seeds of the anti-bender revolution came from what with the triads running parts of republic city and all. I hope they make the anti-benders come off as relatable and not just mustache twirling bad guys. Overall a very nice beginning, hopefully canada gets the itunes season pass.
All of this. They really did nail Korra. Sheâs like that super cute and fun athletic tomboy from high school. She could be rough and tumble with ya but was about having a good time and being awesome. Not about being an elitist jerk.
Finally watched the first episode. Even though I miss the old characters, I liked it a lot. It sucks to have Tophâs daughter be so uptight. Hopefully we get to know more about that. Maybe Toph had more siblings and the daughter had a chip on her shoulder or something.
Thereâs more flying bison!?
Apparently aang found a small colony of bisons after the war, would make sense since if appa really was the last bison, their species was gonna go extinct.
Can someone provide a link?
Sounds like Korra is a teenage toph which IMO is the best way to write a female lead.
