I liked the episode. That crazy plant-bending stuff was… crazy.
I laughed so hard when Katara ran up to her “mother”. She went through like 4 or 5 different mood-swings in a matter of seconds.
I think I know who that girl Aang saw, too. And the bit at the end with Zuko just came off as… pointless. Anyway, the more time they spend on Zuko, the less I have to see that bitchy Azula. I hate her, and I hate all the characters that associate with her. Fuck her and her lightning fire cunts.
Watching this episode, I was struck by just how strange the styles are. Aang’s airbending is extremely passive, while Katara’s waterbending is very offensive and straightforward-- even though it is tai chi, which seems more like re-directing and less actually painful.
VS,
Really late reply but yeah. I suggest using a torrent for season 1-- everything makes more sense if you follow it from the beginning.
Well, I was wrong about the double episodes. But apparently we’ll have new episodes next week, and the week after too.
You can find the torrent for the episode HERE, or just find it on youtube.
This week was “Avatar Day”, which I didn’t like all that much. I’d rate it about a 7/10. Next episode should be better, since it is a tournament for Earthbenders.
And I like how they are going back to the places they’ve already visited. I hope they visit the homeland of those two tribes from the canyon episode.
/\ I’m assuming you mean that kid from the issue where Katara left her necklace on that iron barge after they rescued those Earth benders? Hmm…I suppose he could be a candidate. I kinda of forgot about him.
As for who it is, it’s obviously going to be “the teacher”. As for that being Bumi…it’s seems like one of those damned “too obvious” things, despite how cool that would be.
Anyway, I quite liked yesterday’s episode…even if I missed the third and fourth episodes of the second season and can’t work these torrent things. Oh well, I’ve yet to finish the first season via youtube.
Earthy EDIT: Oh, and speaking of earth-bending and seeing Kyoshi create a whole fucking island yesterday, I maintain that Earthbenders are the most broken. That is all.
He should totally look like post-time skip Neji, that would own. Speaking of hair, Aang could use some…but now it’s kinda too late. But back when they were developing the characters, they could’ve did something different other than “stock Chinese bald guy” they use in almost everything (like Omi in Xiaolin Showdown).
EDIT: And I agree that Sokka needs to get bumped up a notch, instead of being a weak-ass comic relief.
What I love about this show is that they keep creating and threads and ACTUALLY using them. This sadly is a rare commodity in most animated shows now a days (excluding some anime, but even then…).
On Sokka, I am thinking they need to work on him as well. Even the detective angle they brought hear was played more for laughs than anything else.
Until they went back to that Kyoshi island, I damn near forgot about him training their. They need to have him develop so more fighting skills. Cause Azula’s two companions from before both don’t appear to be benders and they still managed to kick ass.
Anyone else surprised by Zuko’s reaction to Iroh’s speech?
I damn near spit up my drink when I saw it. But it at least gives him a direction.
Yeah but I am pretty sure she didn’t use just Earthbending to forge it.
How is Water Bending the most broken? Especially when you say that Air is the most useful? Do you mean “pragmatic” in terms of “useful”? I ask because I think that something that’s “broken” is more useful.
As for most “fun”, Aang sure looks like he’s having a lot of fun with Air Bending (except when he rams into things at high-speed, like in the intro). Or did you me something like “have the most fun with”?
You’ll have to clarify what you mean on everything but Fire Bending, since we’re both agreed on that point…for the moment.
Well, ‘The Swamp’ confirmed that you can bend the water inside of things. Against virtually any living oppoent, you can either rip them in half for free, or just gank all the water from inside their bodies a la Crocodile. Defensively, it sucks. I’d actually rank it lower than firebending.
Airbending isn’t the most versatile. Offensively it sucks, but defensively it is #2 behind earthbending. The main draw of it is the ‘telekenesis’ it grants-- Aang’s manipulated objects (mainly his staff) dozens of times with subtlety that nothing outside of waterbending could match. Not to mention the limited flying, and super-speed. Also, its base element, like firebending, is ubiquitous. You’ll never run out of air, except maybe in space.
Earthbending is good, but doesn’t seem like a practical art. You can’t use it for small things-- but the stuff you can do with it look really fun/cool. For example, Bumi’s teleport or making platforms and surfing on them. But you can. Offensively, I’d rate it as #2 behind broken-water bending, and defensively at #1 since an earthbender could literally throw a mountain up around themselves, or just play underground runaway and none of the other bending classes could do shit about it.
And firebending sucks. But the only impressive firebending we’ve seen so far was that Jiang Jiang guy, and he didn’t get much time. Hopefully we’ll see what else it can do, besides basic-level combat.
I agree with Stabby on waterbending being broken. Besides Katara’s insanely improved (she pretty much seems to be Aang’s equal is fighting with her bending powers) offensive skills she has shown this past season. Not to mention with the plant bending a la water and the fact that she supposedly could be a healer as well, water is diverse as hell.
Firebending has its uses but its mostly destructive unlike the other elements. It also seems to be the easiest of all the arts considering the number of people from the fire nation capable of using it. From what I heard, Azula and Iroh have diverted or created lightning so I don’t think we have seen the full extent of its uses just yet.
Outside of Bumi and Kyoshi’s recent island creation, I honestly haven’t see Earth bending do anything ALL that impressive. Seriously I would still rate it the lowest one especially since that one episode where all the earth benders were captured basically showed they have a HUGE weakness in the right surroundings.
I’m sorry, but that kid is hot. Its probably the blindness.
The Boulder should have been Macho Man. And most of those fights were kinda weak-- she never did anything impressive, just juggled into KO. I was hoping for more Bumi-level stuff.
On the plus side, the animation was awesome this episode. I guess they nabbed a budget increase-- there were tons of frames for the animation of the fights. And the style was pretty badass.
And it is weird that she is the first female earthbender they’ve shown.
Anyway, I watched Sokka very carefully this episode. The series does make him out to be a dumbass, but as least he isn’t made to be useless. He is pretty smart (the last episode with the trial proved that he is at least observant), but jesus christ he gets setup a lot.
And the next episode looks hot too. Zuko alone… I guess since their party is just a bunch of kids, it’ll make sense for Zuko to join up with them now.
i felt to me that The Boulder was the Macho Man’s voice reading The Rock’s lines. an awesome combo.
also sokka decking toph with the belt = awesome. her main weakness is that, while against OTHER earthbenders she wins for free, but as aang showed she’ll have trouble against the other bending styles.
can’t wait to see her trash some fire users though.
