Avatar: The Legend of Korra - Book 4

Imagine fighting a waterbender in a rainstorm…you SO lose.

in which episode does katara bend blood?

it’s in one of the leaked episodes called “puppet master.”

even though katara can do all that crazy stuff, vicious is right in that it’s only with the full moon. but i wonder how powerful she can be without the full moon. it’d be a good balance (in my opinion) to have her be at a certain level most of the time. say, at a level where she’s balanced by the other benders. but with full moons, she can do all the crazy stuff we’ve seen - blood bending, sucking out moisture from trees, etc etc.

maybe this isn’t a good idea, but it allows her to be on par with everybody else most of the time. so like without the full moon katara is like a 7 whereas the puppet master is an 8. but with a full moon, while the puppet master gets a boost to 9 or 9.5, katara gets bumped up to 10.

Uh…actually, Katara can suck the moisture from things at anytimes. It’s just blood bending supposedly only works during a full moon.

Otherwise, she’s a more powerful bender than Aang–unless she thought him that as well, but we usually see their training sessions–and maybe even Toph.

Still, I have to wonder what Air-bending’s sub-bending category is if all the other three have one.

I also have to wonder what color Ozai’s flames will be if he only used red flames against Roku. I’m hoping for at least blue if not white fire since you just know something is going to wrong in episodes 10 and 11.

Depends. If you’re don’t have some way to keep from getting wet, then, yeah, you’re fucked. Earth and Air Benders have decent ways of fighting in the way, but Fire Benders just have the rare electrical attacks and then they get fucked by lack of cover since they burn all the rain into steam. They can’t even making scalding steam since they aren’t immune to being burned and they have to contend with either getting frozen or slapped around or hail/icicles.

The story of Avatar Roku was just fantastic, I thought it was very well done. Obviously, the fire nation has something up it’s sleeve, and with half the season left, I’m sure something is going to happen to force Aang to learn firebending.

I though airbending’s subpower was that they can run really fast?

No, it has to be something broken.

Water technically has 3 things–

Normal, Healing, Bloodbending (kind stupid name, IMO)

Earh and Metal

Fire and Lighting

Air is just… air.

well wit h air I’d think it’s pretty easy to just bend air out of someone and thus make them unable to breathe… :wonder:

But that is still just air bending. Air is air.

Water is sorta the odd one out, but water has healing too. The internal bending is like concentrated water?

Metal is concentrated earth.

Lighting is concentrated fire.

But air is air.

wasn’t there something else that you get when air is concentrated into one spot? shrugs or am I imagining this?

yo, honestly, they just called it blood bending to make it sound cool, its just water bending, ur body is 70% water, i thought the concept was cool but when they introduced the term “bloodbender” i was like, ah man thats kinda extra.

any element can kill massive amounts of ppl at one time. katara’s overall strength and bending ability improved alot, she was brave too when she was like " ur not the only one whose powers increase during a full moon" she musta been training undercover leanring healing and offensive attacking.

if u think about it, anag could just create a vacume and sufficate ppl, or create a hole and burry someone alive, or drown someone with water, or burn ppl alive. the good thing about avatar is no one has uber powers even though we know that anag is supposed to be the hero so he will eventually be the strongest person. and that evil fire princess girl is tottally hot.

also, notice how when they show flash backs, they never show airbenders getting killed or stabbed or burnt, they just show the aftermath, im pretty sure, a small group of elite airbenders flew away in the clouds and have been living in hiding for 100 years and wont show up until the very end. i always thought that i hope im right

Yeah. I sort of think that it will remain that way, especially since Aang doesn’t really have anyone to learn from.

It would make sense that pacifists would spend a enough time training their powers only for defense and learning the really “broken” thing that would likely be abused by some people.

…Of course, it’s often the pacifists that have the deadliest weapons to.

Watch the subset of Air Bending just be straight out Space Bending. Heh. Advanced telekinesis would be so broken.

P.S. Earth is kind of an odd thing out too, at least since they made it seem like Sand Bending was a large sub-set of earth and named it unlike with the constant Ice Bending that Katara and other water benders do.

I wonder if Fire has something else. I’m sure degree of flames probably counts, though…

^
I saw Sand bending as similiar to the ‘Swamp’ bending that one hill billy tribe of water benders. They still bend the natural elements but the elements are in a different form. Swamp benders controlled the water in plant life for their advantage and sand benders controlled a ton of tiny rocks all at once.

water -> Ice
fire -> lightening
earth -> metal
air -> sound???

it’s not really an element, but it’s the only thing that really ties into the air I think…

sound bending… imagine all the tricks you could pull off with that… but more importantly…

SONIC BOOM!!!

the only thing i’ve seen where she’s straight up suck the moisture out of were the plants in puppet master. other than that, the closest thing is her sweat. maybe i’m mistaken?

i’m not saying what i suggested is true. i’m just saying it would be an acceptable balance to (what seems) an overpowered element right now. and so far, this “balance” can be valid.

and i agree with air bending - sound seems to be a perfectly logical subclass. telekinesis is a little iffy, but whatever. as of right now air bending needs a boost. i like the possibility of sucking out the air to make people suffocate, although that kinda seems against the pacifist ways of the air bending tribe. still, it’d be easy to make a ball of wind circulate around a guy’s head which will suffocate the dude.

maybe the balance air and water benders have is the quantity of benders. it seems that everybody from the air bending tribe was able to bend air whereas only a few people from the water bending nations can bend water.

edit: on second thought, that would really suck since aang is the only air bender now.

an interesting idea…since a lack of air means a lack of sound…hmmm…

if u grew up in the sand or the swap, sand or swap bending would seem like the default and earth or water bending would seem like the extension. i dont think its like “only the really strong can bend the swap or the sand”

You know…honestly, this one of the few New TV series of this day and age that I can watch and say…“Wow…this doesn’t fucken suck, infact, it’s really damn good!” cartoon shows.

I have to thank my sister, since she said I would probably like it, and eversince then, wow…I’ve been hooked. However, I never started watching it until…like…a month ago, so I’m really late.

This series looks really good too, Ang is just hilarious as the main protagonist, gotta love him, also, who’s that one dude who’s the brother with the half burnt face?

Forgot his name, but he’s my favorite character within the series, I really like his storyline. Good series, just simply sucks to having to wait every week to see a new episode :sad: .

Nah, the avatar is the strongest character in the world. Aang isn’t the clear-cut strongest right now because he is still learning all of his shit. Everyone else can compete, but no one can fuck with the avatar.

And the bending classes are mostly balanced, except still for fire, I think.

Goddammit! Those lucky Brits getting to see so much new Avatar in such a short amount of time! This is just like when Teen Titans and Justice League Unlimited used to go on hiatus for half a season, only to have the UK get to see the remaining episodes before we did!

However, it is convenient for any Avatar fans with a broadband net connection! Every episode of this season is kickass! Even ‘The Painted Lady,’ which was pretty much filler! Oh, and yes, like many other viewers, I was creeped out by ‘The Puppetmaster’ for real! I really can’t wait for the Day of Black Sun, but I’m assuming that the plan won’t go over as Sokka imagined. Hell, it’s only halfway through the season and I doubt the Fire Nation army will get owned that easily!

Sucks that this will be the final season (supposedly).

Does the UK still get new episodes this friday?
