Whoever watches it, can you confirm this season won’t be a complete bore that season 2 was? I love the show and the idea behind it but they really fucked up when they were too short-sighted in season 1.
If I have to guess, I would say it’s Satoru, some engineer that has the hots for Toph. He’s shown in the latest Avatar comic, The Rift. Also, I dislike how they show that Toph can rival King Bumi in Earthbending.

Toph is still alive?! I guess she’ll be old as dirt like Katara but maybe she can still be a badass in old age like Bumi. Can’t wait for this new season.

I bought “The Promise” when it came out and read it. I missed the other two. They have em on amazon and “other” means if you so desire.
Maybe, but understanding something should have its limits; shouldn’t make you on par with someone with more experience, and stronger physical body. Otherwise, the world would be filled with kids who are already masters. I just think they try too hard to make Toph stronger than she really should be at her age.
But Toph is a prodigy who has a deeper understanding of Earthbending due to her blindness. Kind of like how the other senses get stronger when one doesn’t work properly, her natural Earthbending skills developed into a kind of Neo-like understanding of Earthbending.
It also helps that her young mind is probably as crafty and creative as a crackpot like Bumi, so yeah, I could see her being on par with the greatest living Earthbender considering she invented Metalbending.
Remember she learned from the oldest earhtbending masters the badger moles so she should be a prodigy imo

Honestly, nowhere has it stated stronger physically means your bending is stronger. Otherwise, Toph would have lost to those wrestler looking fools when character was first introduced. Note: I said bending, not fighting ability. Toph wouldn’t be able to take a punch from Bumi, but being able to manipulate earth =/= physical strength (as far as I know).
Biggest point everybody is making is that Toph pioneered metal bending. As old, talented, and outside-the-box thinking as Bumi is, why didn’t he do it first?
