We should remember that now there are more benders but all are still leagues weaker than past benders. Even though all fire benders know lightning, Mako was the only one this generation to redirect it. I still wanna see General Iroh(nman) and Bumi actually fight.
Twin girl, Eska - I like her. Her monotone speaking, and personality. Hoping to hear more dry humor from her.
Dunno How old Tenzinâs Sis is but she looks damn good for whatever how old she isâŚ
Two brothers, one exiled, one is rulingâŚand the ruling one looks leaner and is most likely evilâŚhmm where have I seen this before? A cliched trope but letâs see where is goes.
Bolin can be macking out with many ladies if he plays his cards right.
Asami needs more love. She seems like the only one with a brain in the showâŚand I would GLADLY invest in her any time!
Korra being a bitch is what weâre all going to have to deal with. I just wish she grew more out of it.
Finally, Waterbending seems OP because none of the other elements have shown what true potential they have and can use. Itâs just seen that way cause both in TLA and LoK, theyâre the prominent element focus due to the characters. Theoretically Earth has access to not just metal but all earthly minerals. Bolin (moreso Toph) could used Diamonds to rip through anything (Bolin and Mako could do bend together Diamond with enough time). If such isnât available, crushing rock to make sand can work as well. Look at Gaara from Naruto for example on what realistically earth bending can truly do. Firebending Should be able to build up such intense heat that it can burn off oxygen thus rendering an inability to breathe. Fire with such intensity could nullify air or water putting it out and melt earth. Remember itâs extention is lighting with is another faucet for power as well as speed such as electrocuting a personal to death.
In the show for the most part, itâs almost never shown with lethal force either fire or earth at the true potential.
This show might fail given that its main character kind of sucksâŚhonestly korra and her bf are just a pain to sit through and their the main characters.
I donât buy korra could steal himâŚnot as hot as asami and given her bitchy tone why would any man wanna give up on the hotness of asami for the PMS ride that is korra.
Korra seems like the kind of chick who would freeze a guys dick with water bending to keep him from cheating.
The only credit Asami gets is the fact that she didnât do the predictable thing and join her father when Mako was playing her.
Not to mention for all of Korraâs bitchassness, she shows a respectable amount of maturity when it comes to Asami.
But seriously, itâs the season opener. The only downside so far is the fact that they yet again seem to be going a bit fast in the narrative instead of slowing things down a tiny bit.
Iâm guessing this is one of those âyou canât learn to run without walkingâ deals. You learn water bending before learning any of the subclasses.
She certainly couldâve been more passive-aggressive about it. A shitty thing to do but considering she was a sheltered teenage girl with very little social integration it makes sense sheâs a bit moreâŚforward in situations she should really not do shit in.
I know it donât mean much to anyone since everyone hates Korra but she couldâve easily been malicious to Asami and vice versa. Most women in this situation would be trying to kill each other. Theyâre calm enough to not let Makoâs bum ass come between them. He ainât worth it.
I honestly like Korra this way. I feel like the writers can easily put Korra through situations where she has to learn patience and being humble, despite what her personality may be. We had a chance last season with the bending being stolen, but that doesnât mean it wonât change in the future.
The only reason Korra was being a bitch to them was because there was a clear problem that the avatar must handle, being the bridge between worlds. Her father was being unreasonable, and so was Tenzin. Knowing that her father was responsible for angering spirits in the first place, itâs easy to see why Korra thought to cast him away. For the most part when they were talking she did remain silent, so she did learn something. Its just the way she handled the situation which was the way of old Korra. That also makes sense. She has more of a sense of responsibility, which is good, but hasnât grown much in terms of patience, and humbleness.
Also unlike aang, who traveled the world, Korra has been shelterd her entire life. So as an avatar with the least experience in handling real world conflict, its easy to see why she is that way. She has not really been in situations where she needs to learn restraint Its not like thereâs internet anywhere so she could converse and make friends anyway. So the way she handled the whole Mako/Asami situation also makes sense. That was, in all likleyhood, the first boy she had ever dealt with on that level. This all ties right back into tenzin and her fatherâs decision, so that being brought up in the episode is probably what pushed her to do what she did.
Making the right derision once does not mean she will do it again, especially with as little real world experience as she has. Lets just stop calling her a bitch for a minute and watch the series to see where it goes.
I think the premier purposefully brought out all of Korraâs negative personality traits. It also did a good job of showing her always falling back on her Avatar powers for even little things like winning a race. Once she gets into the spirit world, sheâll be forced to become patient because she canât force her way through things with her bending. Her complete lack of power in that world will probably humble her as well. I bet when she comes out of this, sheâll be less of a bitch and better uphold the Avatarâs role of bringing people together with each other and the spirits.
If I learned anything from this its I hope I never have a daughter.[details=Spoiler] I enjoyed the episodes. I do like the new characters they introduced. Even though the Uncle seemed shady I do agree with him trying to help the southern tribe with the spirits because it can mess with the rest of the world. I donât think invading is the answer though. So far I do like the direction the series is going and I wonder how to rest of the world will respond to the invasion. [/details]
Well bottom line is that I think korra being written as a âbitchâ might be a move to make her more appealing towards the female fanbase which was exactly my fear of a female lead character. Asami or Lin are way better characters to focus the attention onâŚso as a result 50% of my investment to the show is now towards a character I hate.
Oh man, I was going to post that but I held off on it. Since this new SRK actually saves drafts, I still had my draft and I guess Iâll post it now since you already opened the flood gates:
Aang was certainly a more sympathetic character that people can identify with better. Korra will have to grow as a character to get anywhere near that. It just seems like theyâre trying too hard to appeal to a certain demo with Korra. Instead of being a character that exists on her own she seems to be a bunch of stereotypes and ideas, having to act a certain way in order to appeal to a certain type of female/feminist that they want to watch and they want to get praise from. Itâs like switching from Solid Snake to Raiden. Maybe not a bad character if he was an actual character, but when itâs just a pander attempt it detracts heavily from the story/experience.
I donât really know what Legend of Korra is right now. Is it an action cartoon? Is it for adults? Is it for children? Is it a soap opera? Is it a romance? Is it a comedy? Is it a coming of age series?
Well the thing is with the Last Airbender, they let everything come naturally. I think theyâre trying to force an epic a bit with Korra due to the huge expectations.
