Avatar: The Legend of Korra - Book 4

9+10 aired just tonight as a double episode. It’ll reair tomorrow night at 8pm, and I’ll upload the torrent to the website (here) as soon as I spot it.

episode 9 was ‘Bitter Work’. (Toph training Aang earth bending)

Waiting till September seems like too much to do, but so long as they make the next episodes as good as these ones then I’ll be happy.

I have some comments and observations about the newest eps…

-Apparently, Toph has another weakness: She needs to work on bending sand. It was cool to see her keep that entire library from sinking, though.

-Sokka and Momo tripping off of cactus juice was classic! Definitely one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen in my life!

“Who lit Toph on fire?”

-Just like the other otherworldly spirits shown in Avatar, there was more Miyazaki vibe coming from that owl!

-We see some character development from Aang. We know that he’s the last Airbender, which makes him feel lonely sometimes. Now we know what happens when somebody messes with Momo and/or Appa! His actions were understandable, because they’re the only things he has left of the Southern Air Temple.

-Anybody notice when Aang used Airbending to decapitate one of those hornet/vulture things?

-Lastly, Katara shows that she can take charge in extreme situations (as well as calming Aang down when his Avatar State takes over).

-Zuko and Iroh didn’t get much screentime, but there’s obviously something big being planned for them so I didn’t worry much.

-One thing I didn’t get is why Nick decided to promote it as a movie when it was just back-to-back new eps!

Because children are stupid and think things that are an hour long automatically qualify as movies.

And the cactus thing wasn’t the funniest. The funniest was
"Look! Theres the library!"
"?!?!?"
“Thats what one of you guys will say when you see it.” waves hand infront of eyes

cool man, thanks!

well they just wanted to remind us how blind toph is. first she gets nerfed by the shifting sands THEN she can’t see the buzzard things because they’re flying

and sokka was awesome in both parts. “Its a . . . GIANT MUSHROOM! MAYBE ITS FRIENDLY!!!”

now everyone’s headed for Ba Sing Se for what will be an epic meeting

The movie was cool. I freaking laughed so loud when Toph was like… OMG The library is there! Everyone then looks at where she points then she was like… duh bitches! Can’t see! -waves hand infront of her face-. Stoned Sokka and Momo were funny as hell.

But also Toph doing rock angels was great too.

I can’t believe the other “movie” is in september. It’s taking too long. But it was a good episode. It’s better than releasing fillers…I guess. The sand benders were cool but I couldn’t help but feel a slight…Naruto-ish rip.

With the inclusion of sandbenders, there better damn well be icebenders…

I’m guessing sand bending is really not it’s own style but a subset of simply earth bending that requires different practices. It would be lame to have all the other bender types suddenly unless it was explained like that.

the official site at nick.com EXPLICITLY say that sandbenders are just earth users.

Ah, ok then that’s understandable

season 2 episodes 10 and 11 (aka the 1 hour ‘movie’)

Avatar: The Last Airbender for Nintendo Wii (no sound)

It seems more like the water benders in the swamp. As it is just a different variation of basic bending.

Rhio2K: Why would they need Icebenders? The water tribe can freeze water in mid air anyway.

Man, Uncle Iroh and Sokka brings in some nice laugh.

Azula’s hands are hot (no pun). >.>

With Mako having died I will be curious to see if they continue with a different voice actor or remove Iroh from the show.

Voice work up to season 3 was done, and it isn’t like they wouldn’t have known that he had cancer.

They were either waiting for him to tick out, or Iroh was going to die anyway.

The next episodes look great, especially for Waterbending fans. Surf Ninja+Moses Katara is elite.
