i am gone for a couple of days and the shit talkn begins. i would like to see the 5on5 houston vs austin(cire squad). i have my money on houston.
wishes he could make that list
till then, i must practice hard and train well! and eat occasional dog with sungjin…
Same here. As much as I’d like to get revenge on Austin (minus Larry, he’s coo), it’s a well-known fact I lose to Cable scrubs…
austin has never heard of the great GUS, or the indian Navarro, haha or even the great Cro… these are the best players that wont make that list and we’ll whoop up on yalls… but wat do i kno … i play rogue… and cable and his son… and all i hear is bla bla blah wats going on… this is bullshit … right Brad?? hahaha
Good god, please quit posting, I swear. I don’t even think you understand what the hell you post. Fucking Cable is Cyclops’s son ya dumbass.
Someone post a double rp combo with sent please. Is there one with out an assist not in the corner? I am taking advantage of all the traffic on this thread.
Was I the brad you were speakin to? I have know idea who you are but I’ll roll your rogue next time I am in houston…
Carnevil-How are we cable scrubs and you aren’t? He is on your team everytime in tourneys.
shhhhuuuuu
shhhuuuuuu
Well… you might be a Cable scrub if:
a). Your primary game plan is to jump back all day with Cable.
b). 75%+ of the TOTAL DAMAGE YOUR TEAM DOES comes from AHVB + assists. <-- Clarified
c). Your team is primarily built around Cable (ex. Cable/Doom/AAA).
d). Your win ratio drops SEVERELY when Cable is dropped from your team (ex. You were depending on Cable to do all the work because you lack the skill to play any other character as well).
It comes down to: If Cable’s basically all you’ve got, you’re a Cable scrub.
So now let’s put myself through the list to see if I’M a Cable scrub. Do I qualify by meeting condition ‘a’? Nope, my goal is to kill a couple characters with Sent and then turn it over to Cable before Sent dies. ‘b’? No, most of my damage comes from Sentinel. ‘c’? No, my team is built around Sentinel, with Cable as a good backup. The team is also built to beat Storm/Sent. ‘d’? I don’t know, I OCV a lot of people with Sentinel alone, and I’m starting to pick up Spiral, Storm, Cyclops, and Mag, so…
Even though a lot of people in Houston use Cable as their primary character, and probably their best character, I don’t know that I’d really consider them scrubs. Why? They both use Cable skillfully and know how to use other characters skillfully (ie. don’t run away and throw photons all day because they’re incapable of doing anything else). I don’t really consider John P a Cable scrub cause he has a good Rogue and Cyclops. Stiggz has a really good Doom and Commando. Genius has a really good Cammy, BH, Doom… think some others too. Martin is starting to get good with Storm and Sent. Yeah, H-town has some hardcore Cable scrubs… but, I’m not gonna name any names.
Austin tho… I don’t know. I see an awful lot of Cable on point, followed by Doom, BH, Commando, etc… and whenever they’re on point, all they do is the same thing they’re Cables do… run away and throw shit at you. How can you call that anything BUT scrubby? Larry and Sungjin are the only two people there who I can clearly say are NOT scrubs. I mean, they’re pretty fucking good/cool. The rest of you are borderline scrubs to full-blown scrubs. If you want me to change my opinion, damn, learn some new characters or something. Learn Storm/Sent. Beat me in tournament without using Cable (so far Larry is the only one in Austin to do this). Learn how to psimitar AHVB. Learn how to tiger knee bomb. Learn MSP (man, if any of you gets good with MSP, you’ll rape everyone in Austin 'cept Larry cause MSP owns all those scrubby teams). Get good with Sentinel. Learn how to fast fly.
If you guys want respect, fucking do something to earn it. Whining and complaining is not going to get you anywhere.
thanks brad…u explained it all very well…i just say we all chill, smoke fat blunts and wait till TS3 to settle the score…
lol, sounds like a good plan
Hey I gotta agree with you Brad a lot of people in Austin use cable. But not everyone, I’ve been trying to not use him and I haven’t actually used him in awhile. But I would definetly agree that there are more players to compete with in Houston. I mean playing against good comp will always make one better. Also does anyone want to get some games in tomorrow? Hey Brad (Carnevil) you gonna be at this weekly cause we need all the good comp we can get?
Brad (Carnevil), I have to disagree with you on your theory, I think it’s fundamentally flawed.
a). Your primary game plan is to jump back all day with Cable.
That’s the safest plan, because you don’t have to rush them down cause you have much better tools to work with when you’re at a distance from your opponent, that’s like asking a Sent to not fly and stomp, if it’s your most comfortable strategy, I don’t see the point in calling it a scrubby way.
b). 75%+ of your damage comes from AHVB + assists.
That’s the same thing as calling Storm DHC into Sent, and eating random CapCom’s scrubby, its’ not like AHVB is unblockable, you got hit by something solid before you got AHVBed.
c). Your team is primarily built around Cable (ex. Cable/Doom/AAA).
Most of our Cable players have BH, when Cable is out, they’re perfectly fine stalling the match with him and Cyclops and it gives me fits because they’re so damn patient. If Cable gave them a lead, all their second characters have to do is to keep that lead, you don’t have to do training mode combos to win a match.
d). Your win ratio drops SEVERELY when Cable is dropped from your team (ex. You were depending on Cable to do all the work because you lack the skill to play any other character as well).
You’ve been to LL, tell me if you’re comfortable playing MSP there or anything that requires consistent joystick not messing up on you. Blame it on the sticks, not on the players.
I think you’re being too general about this and calling people who has a good Cable Cable whores, that’s like calling me and you Sent whores because I have relied on Sent too much lately and it’s insulting, so why do it?
yeah lets replace this…
#O-----------|\ ~o ~o ~o~o ~o ~o~o :o <—Cire
#O-----------|7 <—Genius

fuck all the drama…time to put on a show. got my money on H-town.
Top tiers are top tiers. The more you use them and the better you are at them, the more you’ll win. Storm/Sentinel/Cable would own everyone if the player was smart with all 3 (yes, that IS my new team.)
yeah brad’s theory are kinda wrong since a better player does the smartest thing to win with any character.
75% AHVB does not make you cable scrub. what the fuck else does he have? All i know about is AHVB and grenade, are there any others? Cable doesnt even need ANY other move then
- fierce gun blast
- short
- short
- roundhouse
- AHVB
- grenade
Narrator on Cable For Dummies: To win with Cable, land 2,3,4 then insert any other move with assist to either trap, drain, kill, own, or lockdown opponent(s). Dont hesitate to call out an assist (any assist) and use 1, 5, 6 or SJ into 1, 4, 6 to cover your ass. Please refer back to list if you get confused.
I see what you mean Larry, but I think I was a little misunderstood. Let me clarify.
Right, I’m not implying that Cable should be played as a rushdown character. That’s why I don’t think Magneto players generally do good with Cable (Rodolfo of course being the exception). I’m saying when their PRIMARY GOAL is to get Cable in on point and run away and throw things at you… that qualifies as scrubby. It’s different when Cable is your backup character, and has come in after Magneto or Storm or Sent. doing that when Cable just plain happens to be your second
Okay:
a). I mean TOTAL damage… not just Cable on point. If Cable does all the work for your team, you might be a scrub.
b). Storm/Sent IS pretty scrubby, but it’s not as scrubby because with Storm you actually have to know how and when to attack, which takes skill. Let’s not forget that part of what defines something as “scrubby” is DIFFICULTY. Isn’t landing that first hit with Storm and then DHC’ing into Sent, launching, doing your air combo… etc., harder than AHVBx3? Doesn’t that make it LESS scrubby? No one calls Yun scrubby in 3s cause Genei Jin is hard to do, even though that single super does tons of damage… however Chun-Li’s low forward xx super IS because it’s HELLA EASY to do, even though it does a little less damage. Who is better? Yun. Who’s scrubbier? Chun.
c). Yes, Commando is one of the best and scrubbiest assists in the game. I admit that. You can beat a lof of people by holding back and calling Commando. You won’t beat anyone GOOD… you won’t get FAR, but you can do it.
**Yes, I agree that zoning, turtling, and running are all good tactics. I use them all in the appropriate situation. But if that’s all you’re capable of and do regardless of who has the lead, that’s different. But, my main point is that building a team around scrubby tactics = (you guessed it), scrubby.
**You use Storm/Sent. That’s pretty similar. Storm and Sent need good sticks to work well. I don’t exactly see them rendered useless. Maybe not quite as well as Mag, but he can still do it. If Venie goes, we’ll see how it works. I personally am not playing MSP there because MY MSP SUCKS  I don’t have nearly enough experience with that team. Plus, you guys have played on them for how long now? I’m sure you’re used to them by now. Plus, I think you guys DO have an MSP player who’s pretty good… David Vo, right? I mean damn, if you, David, Sungjin, etc. can do it, no reason the others can’t.
Again, what defines something as scrubby is it being EASY (ex. takes very little skill) yet can be effective. Truly good Cables generally aren’t Cable scrubs because they generally a). Play their Cables in a skilled manner (tiger knee bombs, psimitar AHVB, knowing when to s. fp, etc), and b). can play other more skilled characters very well. Duc and Row might have incredible Cables, but they’re not Cable scrubs. I mean, first, they’re Cables are very smart, and do skilled things. Second… Duc has an amazingly good Sent, Spiral… etc, and Row has an incredibly good Sent, Mag, Storm, etc.
I mean, why do you think you’ve never heard the term “Magneto scrub”? Mag ain’t easy to play. Magneto can’t exactly be “whored”. There’s nothing easy about him to “whore”. Sent can sometimes be scrubby… people doing random rocket punches and just jumping back all day with FP, or c. fp xx lk drones all day. But, using Sent in a non-scrubby way (which is MORE EFFECTIVE) is nothing insulting at all. Has anyone every insulted Row’s Sent? Called it scrubby? I doubt it. Called his Cable scrubby? Doubt that too. But you know what? I bet they both will kick almost anyone’s ass.
Disagree?
Right, there’s nothing wrong with running away/zoning/turtling with Cable (hell, that’s what I do with him), but if that’s all you can do with any character and do it at non-opportune times… yeah that qualifies you as a scrub.
**I mean if the overall damage your team does comes from AHVB’s and assists… not just when Cable is on point. I went back and clarified that.
I might be up there in another week or two… not this weekend though (unless Venie ends up going and wants to car pool). I’m a little “Austined out” right now That’s a long drive, heh. Oh yeah, good for you for using Storm/Sent or whatever team you’re using You’ll get farther ahead in the long run that way. If you know like MSP and Storm/Sent, you’ll be very hard to counter team. That’s what Valle plays and it works. (Of course I’m trying to be Duc and play Storm/Sent and Sent/Cable :D)
BTW, does Einstein’s have good sticks? Anyone ever tried to get MvC2 in there?
ok…have i ever said i was better than anybody??? ok…i most certaintly sure that there are roughly 5-6 guys better than me in htown…top 3 humm dunno but i’ll try my best to get top 10 hows that??? wtf do u care if i talk??? if don’t want to read then it’s ok…i guess u on htown side
