The Augusta SUPER Tournament

Be there! October 3rd is the official date!

The Tournament Center
1824 Wylds Rd Suite A3
Augusta, GA 30909
Google Maps link:
(If coming from I-20 to Bobby Jones Expressway, be careful because much of those roads and loops are under construction currently so keep an eye out and be safe! Our location is basically behind the Augusta Mall which is located off of Wrightsboro road. If entering the mall from Wrightsboro, circle the entire complex, then go onto Wylds road to get to the TC (Tournament Center).)

Door Fee: $10 ($5 if you pre-register!)
Game Fee:
SF4: $10
BB: $5
KOF12: $5
Marvel: $5 (if enough interest)
(We really want to get an idea of how many people plan to attend this tournament so please pre-register!! In this case, it won’t hurt to not pre-reg, and if you do, you’re saving yourself a good five dollars!! So please pre-reg!)

Do like so:
Name: Drew Greiner "Druseph"
Home town: Augusta, GA
Games entering: SF4, BB, KOF12, Marvel

Pot will be split like so:
1st: 70%
2nd: 20%
3rd: 10%
“Framed Trophies” too
(I want to assure you that absolutely NO money will be going to the wrong hands!! Myself and the rest of the Augusta crew are doing this for the love of the South East fighting game community and would never steal or profit from you!! If anything John and I have spent a good sum of our own money to help promote and make this tournament better than the average tourney! We have sacrificed much for this, and we hope it will all pay off in the end!)

Time: October 3rd, 2009
-Registration and casual play begins at 12:00pm
-Tournament starts 1:30pm
(Please be on time!! Everyone has stories of how that one tournament there and here started extrememly late and blah blah blah, so lets avoid a late start please and thankyou!!)
-If problems arise and you are late, please call me:
Druseph: 706-220-7349

-(and dont take for granted casual play!: some say the best matches you play are casuals at a tournament! I want to encourage more casual play at events like these because it’ll be the only time you can truly play the best players (lag free) just like in the ol’ fashioned’ arcades! Feel free to come early or stay afterwards on the tournament to knock out some casuals with Augusta’s and our neighboring city’s best players!! I promise it’ll help you!!)

System Format: X-BOX 360
(I know many of you play PS3 and its become the more common console since its been used at EVO, FR, and other major tournaments, but about 90% of us players in Augusta play 360 and our venue is full of several 360 stations, so 360 is going to be the format this time.

-No need to bring tvs or consoles to this venue! The only thing you need to bring is your controller (BYOC!). But if you are a PS3 player, there will be plenty of 360 sticks at this tournament and we will be more than happy to let you borrow them for your matches. Our main SF4 setup will be on 4 wide screen flat panels (lag free) so our tournament should run very smoothly just like the last one!

Universal Rules:
-SF4, BB, Marvel, and KOF12 will all be best 2 out of 3 rounds.
-All tournaments will be Double Elimination best 2/3 matches, 3/5 semi-finals, 4/7 Finals
–No Button Mapping (Default is allowed for pad players, but mapping throw and focus is doo doo straight up and is not allowed)

Games/ Rules:
Street Fighter IV
-Winner keeps same character, loser can choose differently

-Winner keeps same character, loser can choose differently

The King of Fighters XII
-Winner keeps the same team members and continues the same member order, loser may switch team members and member order

Marvel vs Capcom 2
-Winner keeps the same team, while the loser can switch teams.
-You may not use any glitch that prevent the game from being played. This includes game freezing, game resetting, player freezing…
-Deadbody infinites are allowed to gain a positional advantage, but not to delay the game.
-Button switching during the loading screen is allowed (e.g. Holding ASSIST 1 to switch your first assist with the point).
-You may not use the same character twice on one team.
(If not enough interest, this will not be run.)

Hope to see you all there! Get Hype!

funny u would have a tournament right after i leave for school >:|

wont be able to make it, but best of luck for the turnout. Are u sure u wanna do grand finals 3/5? its usually 4/7. and winners/losers finals is 3/5.

Get hype!!!
Add me to SF4

Yeah, that sounds better after thought! Sux you can’t make it. Dare I say we’re gonna miss out on the South East’s best Abel???

  • It also just occured to me that the AWA anime convention in Atlanta is during this weekend and apparently there is a fighting game tournament involved in it, so I’m going to have to move the tournament date a week later to the 26th of September. Sorry for the confusion.

Hey guys Atlanta Revival September is going to be on the 26th BTW. Call me when you get a chance Duspeh at 770-329-8286. We already posted that it was going to be that date in the Waba thread along with the GA thread.

OHHHHOHH! I think I can make this! not sure yet, tho.
I feel like I should purchase a fightpad or arcade stick before entering this, because I’m pretty sure everyone knows how fail the 360/PS3 controllers are…lol.
does anyone use them?

It looks like I’m gonna have to move the date again. Hopefully this time it will stay!lol! I’m gonna shoot for the 3rd of October. Does anyone know of any tournaments on that day that could collide with this one before I make the changes?

Yeah, actually quite a few of the top players around our region use pads. JTO who just placed second at the last SEB tournament uses a PS3 pad and the Battle Walrus has won 3 past tournaments using a 360 and PS3 controller.

i would lightly use the term top players, but anyway Dru if i were you i would look at the other tourneys in the events section…if its not posted, then i believe u should have dibs…i wouldnt even have tournamnets within a week of eachother because people usually dont do tourney 1 week and another tourney right after…I think Atlanta Revival should probably take a break in all honesty cause of the reputation it has…

I appreciate your concern, but October 3rd is looking like the best date to hold this. I know the next Revival is a week before hand, but there is also a Columbia tournament on the weekend of the 11th of October which is a week afterhand, so having the tournament on the 3rd doesn’t interfere with any of Atlanta’s or Columbia’s tournaments, which are the two primary closest cities that this Augusta tournament may draw its players from. The last thing I want is to create problems and conflicts. Really its up to the players to decide if they want to go to multiple tournaments each week in a different city or to just pick one to go to based off which they think is best for them. I know you and Kiyo have great Augusta tournament experience and I appreciate all the support I can get from you guys!

NOOOO HO BOX 350?!?!??!

I’ll be there. GAY. lol.

don kim

Ay dru. Do you want to get a session going soon? Let me know.

I’d love to get a session going soon, but I work from about 5 to 11 just about every day and we need a place to do it at, so yeah, lets figure something out :chat:

add me too,
Steve Kim

Great! Bump!

Oh crap add mee son

Excite-Fest 2009!

Marques Brooks

Shit man I’m gonna be in Cola the week before this. I’ll see if I can talk some people into coming.

Gotcha Man! Yeah, Columbia is only like an hour away so they definitely shouldn’t miss this opportunity to get their game on!

Hopefully more people show up for this. The tournament center owner seems to nickel and dime everyone.

Man it seems everyone in AUG plays on dickbox250. Don’t want to go purchase one for SF4 though. lame. When are we going to hold a session AUG?? We need to represent in this tourney.

Heard about how all U.S. players lost in the first round of SBO. This made me more hungry to get better at this game and all future fighting games. T6BR at SBO was no different as Japan seems to be dominating in that as well. LETS PLAY! (for free of course b/c tourney center is not cheap)

Someone hit me up. Dru, Kiyo, Coos, etc.
