ATTN Ken Players

Ill have some matches up I think from this tournament this weekend. I did so bad it was unreal though, so dont laugh too hard. I was having some serious problems executing. :stuck_out_tongue:

Wake up CMD grab in corner, SA2, uppercut, uppercut… 100% stun = dead

I’m a newb but from what I know: Isn’t ken a character with good rushdown options? As in is able to rush the shit out of any char? And isn’t the shoryuken an anti air meassure which shouldn’t be used except for rushdown AA? I saw daigo vs a makoto player(seems to be in japan) and what daigo did was basicly c.mp poking to keep her out of minimal range (c.mk seems to cancel a lot of makoto’s rushing actions) and c.mk sa3 to beat her down.

Ken is an all around solid character. He can turtle, rushdown, do whatever the fuck he pleases. however, when you have makoto cornered, or on her side of the screen, it’s VERY DANGEROUS to try and attack her on wake up, one lucky guess = stun = death. Against makoto, if Ken turtles and pokes with low strong/low forward alot, he has the match won pretty easily.

How can makoto tempt ken to stop his poking?

Ken is a char with a very solid game plan. Makoto is just random as hell and has really nothing to go on besides luck. The fact remains it’s really all about trying to get that 100% off on Ken, which Ken can easily do by being XCOPY Justin Wong style.
Practically looked at, ok big deal I’m makoto, I have a 100% stun combo, say I’m playing against Edma with Ken…what if he runs like a pussy and I never land the combo? then what? easy, I lose :clap: ! so in that realistic scenario, I have to basically play 20 guessing games, which Ken can win against b/c shoryu combos and SA3 guaranteed stuff does more than [low short xx dash punch] with makoto…
btw I never really realized before how scary it can be in a corner situation…
like Edma was saying, just stay on your side of the screen (it’s really only 1/2, not 1/3 but that’s a little secret hehe) and you’ll be fine
every Ken I play against runs away and it’s pretty damn effective…

Hmm Ken V Makoto intresting match. I Play Ken as My main and Makoto for any Chuns I run into.

Makoto -Can- win this but she has to play by Ken’s rules. and Kens rules suck for makoto. Unless you make him play by your rules. After all you’re Makoto make where ever you are your house(I claim this subway station in the name of Makoto!)

Take(read steal) a page from the past. The Low strong forever Rose from Alpha or the 17 low Jab Chun from alpha 18th is is strong xx shoryu Anyways history lesson and old gimmicks aside I started SF seriously in those days So I’ve always seen Super Spamable moves as an option. And I use them. . . .Alot its probably my favourite thing to open matches with why? Because it not only can win(and it does) it also lets you size up your opponent when all they have to go off is retarded spam junkie play. Suddenly match 2 getting rushed the hell down or Zoned out of their minds only ups the frustration. I have a friend who could probably beat Daigo(exageration for effect) If he stayed cool headed. When he gets even minorly upset about his playing I doubt he could take a 5 year old that hits buttons on occasion(again exagerated for effect)

Makoto Enter the c.MK Vanilla it should stuff enough of Ken’s footsie game to the point where you can easily see anything that beats it(All that beats it for free is f+HK timed well and Maybe a heinously well placed kara DP) His easiest out is to jump which is a no-no to begin with. HE knows this in fact he knows you WANT him to jump so I’d bet money hes jumo Parry the AA. But the AA wont come its kara kara make use of meter you built up with c.MK(if you have a bar full yet) Or Kara Kara knock down. then feel free to get right where c.MK will whiff and stick it out a few times before he gets up. then block because its generally obvious he’d go for the SRK wake up with Makoto sticking her foot all over his corpse(Were I play we reffer to baiting wakes and asking to get waked and punished ‘Corpse crowding’) Oh was that SRK just whiffed / Blocked? Punish.

Its a classic game plan Frustrate people into doing exactly what you know they’ll do. Sure its just a gimmick it shouldn’t be that good. But if Alpha3 taught me anything its that ridiculous amounts of high priority moves spammed is a good thing.(Akin to my Remy c.MP spam flash kick for the win)Now to aviod writing a thesis on the joys of Spamming moves Its a tough match for Makoto(Hell its the reason shes not tierd higher which she would be seeing as Yun/Chun are favorable for her) But its doable. If Ken gets really bad pick up Chun and Meta Counter Caracter I play Ken/Makoto because Makoto covers my Ken’s ass quite well. I Suggest you do the same.
