At the Eye of The Ragin Storm Part II-Out with VCRs, in with DVD recorders!

I never liked 2k2 because I only played the PS2 port…now you’re telling that it’s just a shitty port and the actual arcade game is better?
I guess I should re-judge 2k2 when I have the chance to play the real version. =/

Yeah the real version is A LOT easier to do moves…think 2003 for PS2 how easy it is to do specials etc…yeah!

Same here…except I might never ever get to try the arcade version. DG hit home with the controls. Some SDMs had me going for 30 minutes at a time in training mode before finally pulling them off. K’ and Ryo’s hidden SDMs get worthy mentions here.

Ryo’s SDM is near impossible to do even in arcade mode, because the motion is bugged (it overlaps with other moves he has, so he can’t really execute it unless under very specific conditions)…don’t know about how easy K’s is in the PS2 version but it’s not that difficult in the arcade.

Ryo’s SDM can only be done in the following situations:

  • just as you wake
  • just as you land from a jump
  • just as you recover from a roll
  • recovering from a move that is not cancellable into qcf+C
  • supercancelling from his Kohou dp+C(1 hit), the easiest to do
  • cancelling a CD attack(not sure why this works but it does)
  • immediately after activating maxmode

There might be some other situations, like after a f/df+B parry (but I’ve never gotten it to work). The trick to doing all these is that you have to enter the qcf+C part of the SDM, about a frame before any of the conditions above…so that when you hit the final part (the A), it will register the super and it will be on the first frame that your character can make an action

For instance, if you try to do it from say, landing from a jump, and you enter qcf+C, then A when you land, he’s just going to do his qcf+C move…instead, enter qcf+C the frame before he lands, then the A will have to be hit just when you land.

Yes IMO the arcade looks nice and crisp in comparison to the PS2 version AND the DC versions.

Funny thing is as bad as the controls are in general The Magical Saturn pad takes care of that…I have no problem playing 2002 on Ps2 with the Saturn pad…I can do whatever I want to do when I want to do it.

Matter of fact I’m gonna archive the “Why PS2 2k2 is UTTER SHIT”.

**EVO West SNK 2007 Update- **Mr Wizard corrected the error on the schedule page in regards to the BYOC room.

The BYOC room will be open BOTH FRIDAY AND SATURDAY!

Friday it will be open from 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM so that means I will fly in Friday and will need someone to pick me up from the airport Friday…

Who can do this??

i have neowave, 2k2 and 2k3 on xbox. are those close to arcade? i hope they are.

Question about NGBC, what’s the point of Double Assault aside from it being easy to combo into and not being ground-techable? The damage on it is really really low.

Watch the opponent’s red meter and your partner’s life bar when you hit someone with it.

Ahhh gotcha, thanks~

Most SNK console ports are complete ass. Neowave also falls in line somewhat with bad controls. But not nearly as bad as 2k2.

NeoWave is in the middle ground as far as bad controls are concerned…at least its playable…2k2 is not on the other hand. Same thing…with the Saturn pad it don’t matter…controls are perfect for me!

Yes about Deadly Assault in NGBC the purpose is to reduce the amount of health you can gain back.

XBOX version of 2k2/2k3 is about the same as the PS2 version…slightly better…but not really.

Hence they really do need to do a 2k2 Rebout…make it arcade perfect…give it the Super Turbo treatment…

No one guessed the trivia question? Its KISARAH!! :lovin:

C’mon Triad you slackin!

Kisarah’s qcb+D~C or Qcb+C~D Cancels build meter everytime she does it and I cant think of a faster way to build meter!!

Also for you that are playing it “Arcade perfect” on DA BOX…I got a converter from Play Asia that has NO LAG for like $10 thanks to Neo Alec that lets you use your PS2 controller on XBOX…

**Flame on! **

Neowave aint that bad on console the main problem is the slowdown that’s not found in the arcade version. And young geese lol. But yeah :stuck_out_tongue:

ugh…been trying to get some more NGBC action here but no one wants to play the damn game. Need to get me a PS2 and a flip top and swap magic.

young geese is playable in the arcade version as far as I know… I don’t think any of the console only characters are particularly broken… Angel has her infinite and a different variant I think, I wish I could play her well : |

Yeah I know he’s playable in the arcade version. We had a NW cabinet here for a while. I don’t know anything about the console characters because I haven’t really messed around with the console version aside from evo east tho. I remember when ps2 NW first hit there were some combo vids from the japs showing some glitches with the console characters…dunno if any of it can be applied to gameplay tho.

About the NeoWave glitches- a Couple of them are applicable and a couple others really aint to tournaments…like one for example is-

Ryos Slowdown glitch- (archived)
-In the corner do qcf+C then juggle with jump forward b…yes it comboes…and it SHOULDNT.

Most of the slowdown issues in general even like Angels slowdown isnt practical to tournament situations…its more of an exhibition they are showing but Ryo’s is.

Angel still has her infinite combo. The most broken console character is Guard Break Mode Omega Rugal. Any other is legal just NOT GB Mode because of his silly Kaiser Wave OuroBorous glitch which is practical and sure death blocking or not if mastered…not only that but it freezes the game. So if someone picked GB Mode Rugal in a NeoWave tournament I would ban his Ourobourous glitch to make him legal.

Whats wrong with Young Geese Arturo? Yes Young Geese is playable on the Arcade…if not he wouldnt be legal because he was at SBO2004 which is on the arcade of course!

**Weecho- **Also just come by Denton and you’ll get all the NGBC action you can stomach. And/or just go to the SNK-Capcom Classic this weekend in Arlington that Sanji Himura is running, I’m down for throwing an honorary NGBC tournament should we have time!

The only problem I have with young geese really is his safe spammable deadly rave which hits from behind him as well…other than that I’m ok with the character, its not like he’s as bad as the 97 hidden characters. He is not too bad except for that. If they made the suppr require some actual thinking involved in doing it I wouldn’t mind. For the most part you can just throw it out there with zero risk and high reward. But didn’t you mention that you could throw it or something?

why doesn’t SNK have an E3 booth?

really i can’t understand why you allow console characters that are not balanced at all with the game engine and with the other charas

Well I may allow them depending on where I am…right now I am just trying to get people involved playing the games thats my overall thing with allowing them in NeoWave only…

I want people that play 2k2 to play NeoWave…because…NeoWave is at least accessible in the home versions AND IS PLAYABLE TO A DEGREE.

Arturo- Yes if you perfect it, you can normal or Command Grab Geese out of Deadly Rave…matter of fact Stuff like Orochi Yashiro’s jumping Command Grab Otome Yosuke caught me with that a couple of times in the middle of Deadly Rave…even regular Chris’s same thing…caught me off guard surely.

But I know to look for it now. :badboy:
