I love when gamers proclaim how they refuse to buy something. Nobody cares. Just like you arent buying the new Resident Evils, the new Devil May Crys, the new Street Fighters, the new Blazblues. I’ve heard this song many a times. You wont buy a 60 dollar quicktime event, you rather buy a 60 dollar movie. Dat logic.
If the game isn’t worth 60 bucks then it isn’t worth it. Hence why i’m renting it. I’d rather pay the 2 bucks and at least then i’m not feeling bad for buying it.
$60 interactive OVA. It’s all in how you spin it. And spreading it out over several months in episodic bites takes the sting out (I came up with the $3-5 price based on what tv show/movie rentals cost on XBL). Btw, publishers care a WHOLE lot about what we will or will not buy because I guarantee you that Madden and Call of Duty fans are not talking about Asura’s Wrath this week. Capcom would love to know that one of it’s biggest fight game fan bases was interested in purchasing copies of AW.
I personally want more depth out of my game if I’m going to spend $60 up front. Like I hate that I can only go back to Vanquish as an example but here is a game that can be beaten in six hours like AW. However, Vanquish has deeper combat that AW and you can really improve your abilities over time. When the bulk of a game is pressing or swirling at the right time to progress the story it takes away the desire to want to replay it. I want to replay Vanquish because I want to get better at it. How much better at AW can a person get?
However what AW is is pretty freaking awesome so that’s why I question the way it was marketed. Could it have been done differently so it stands out even more from the games it was being compared to in the first place (DMC, NG, God of War)? It’s clear that CC2 had no intention of going after the high octane action game throne so why would their publisher waste time marketing it at trade shows and online as that? It’s like imagine if El Shaddai was marketed as the heavenly answer to Bayonetta. Game would have been laughed out of existence upon release but because we knew what kind of game it wanted it to be we as a gaming community did not judge it against games like Bayonetta.
I hope you are getting what I’m saying here Grahhh. SRK members are NOT cheap. We rock $100 plus sticks and pump money into what’s left of the arcade scene. I think that ultimately the price isn’t the issue; the lasting depth of the product is. And you know that we as a community know a thing or two about depth.
Awwww Capcom yanked that walkthrough down as I was watching it…I had just got to Episode 12. That’s still not going to change my decision though I want this IP to live so I understand they gotta make as much money as they need too. This game could have been sooooo much better. The combat just needed to be fixed up and it would have lived up to it’s potential.
Hmmm. Nothing but the last 20 pages have been the bickering and complaining about how everybody’s not going to buy the game because they dont want to purchase a 60 dollar “interactive movie” and its basically pushed out any real discussion of the game for peope LIKE ME and a few others who actually like and want to buy/bought the game. I cant fucking talk to myself about the game when every other reply is “I rather see this at the IMAX!!! whos with me?!! amirite?!!!”
And yet I’m trolling.
When did I call you stupid? When did I just hurl around stupid insults calling you a piece of shit? Even if you disagree with me I can give you the decency to respect your opinion you’ve got some nerve.
If you dont like the game fuck off (thats what I said) you got your point across 500 replies ago. You dont want the game. Now get out. Dont accuse me of trolling I dont post in topics that dont interest me over and over and over and a few of you should do the same. Its out. Its finished, this discussion should be over at this point whether you want it or not. I mean really.
Look at what you just typed. All that hostility for what? You wanted to DISCUSS the game? You want me to quote the last couple posts you made in here which is nothing you bashing other people and how none of it is you actually trying to discuss the game with anyone? All you do is this:
-Call people here trolls
-Call people here cheap
-Rage some more
-Spew more insults
-Repeat the above
You’re not trying to discuss the game at all. Hell the people who are putting off the game until a price drop are discussing it more than you. And hey, guess what? People voicing their lack of satisfaction with the game? That’s actually discussing the game right there. A couple page back people were discussing the game. But you just brushed all of it off by saying SRK is just stupid/obnoxious/whatever because they weren’t happy with the game.
You might not be trolling but you aren’t being particularly constructive either. Instead of going after people who call you names you should be addressing the topic more intelligently than “SRK is Cheap” and telling us to fuck off. That’s rude and disrespectful. Instead of attacking members who aren’t interested in this game you could try countering the negatives of AW with positives from your first hand experience. If you support the $60 price why not tell us why without waving your angry finger at everyone in this thread. We aren’t children.
Btw, you can’t tell people to leave a thread. You aren’t a mod so can it. Be a man and just ignore the posts you disagree with. As simple as that.
IMO…They could’ve released the game as 3 ‘parts’ each part containing a portion of the game for 10-15 dollars.
Now I understand FurryCurry mentioned a lower price, but in what I posted above, each ‘part’ would be at most 2-3 hours long to beat.
In the end, the total price paid for the game would be 30 or 45 dollars, which I think might’ve been more accepted than how it is now. Oh and each Part would be released in one month.
A good chunk of the more well known people gave the game a solid review…WTF at G4. It’s been selling pretty well at my store so I think it’s probably gonna be a success.
