Asura's Wrath: Japanese God of War

I think part of the problem is people just misunderstanding this game like this quote right here. Who says they “fucked it up” anyway? Their goal from the beginning was to be a game like the way it is, not to be a standard kind of beatemup.

They didn’t fuck up, they just made a game that wasn’t intended for you.

I played the demo. At first play, I was taken back by the QTEs presence and the more scripted flow of theaction. I told my brother to not waste his space DLing it on his PS3. He still wanted to see how “meh” it was so I gave it a second spin. I actually liked it better this go around (not saying its a day 1 purchase). The QTEs make sense and like another poster mentionened they are very consistent with its uses. I want to see what the standard level design/ enemy combat is like as we honestly got two boss battles. I don’t harbor much hate as the look and action sequences make me think of what Goku would be like if he was pissed 1000% of the time. I will keep watching for information on this title to be released, but I think (hope, in all honesty) we got only half of the games core functionality.

Looks like a great story.

Great character design, Hindu gods, which are the best

It has everything to be as good as Ninja Gaiden or God of War, or Devil May Cry. Epic games require epic moveset/interaction. Not some, push button to do this.

Id buy this if Capcom eliminates all the cannon fodder and turns into a movie, a 6 hour or however long the fuck it is. Shit do me Metal Gear Solid, and give me 45 minuet boss battle cut scenes instead. If you are making these bosses less interactive, just do it like they do in Metal Gear Solid. 45 minuet cut scenes with dynamic game play in between. From what I can gather from this demo is that this game as it is should be a movie not a game.

NO

wait is capcom developing this now? I’m confused.

CyberConnect 2 IIRC. Capcom is just publishing it.

but we aren’t getting any more interactive boss fights. Are you completly satisfied with the end product? Maybe im expecting to much, after playing God of War 3 and dealing with the Titans, especially Kratos, the excuse of he is to big simply doesn’t fly. Sure it had QTE, but there was plenty of interaction in that fight.

ok thanks, that’s what I thought

Again, these are the arguments that are without merit. Nothing against you PERSONALLY, its just this thought process isnt registering.

Devil May Cry has ONE attack button and ONE “gun” button. That means Devil May Cry and Asura’s Wrath have the same number of attack buttons. Why would AW suddenly be in danger of not having enough “depth” based on that alone?

With that said Asura’s movelist changes depending on the number of arms he has. We have already seen he can attack with no arms, 2 arms and 6 arms. He also has kick attacks, arieal attacks, powered up attacks and a “fireball” which is nothing more than a gunshot.

Lets talk about Streets of Rage 2 and its limited moveset and how it’s still one of the best side scrollers ever made.

Set it up? man, I held the door open. I have to get the DMC collection when it drops. I never finished anything other than 2. Gotta get down with the rest.

That is not 100% accurate. There are Asuras in Hinduism but these Asuras are based on the Buddhist Asuras taken from buddist texts, and have their own stories unique to Buddhism. In Buddhist context they are comparable to titans.

See, to me, the demo WAS epic, COMPLETELY epic, especially during the QTEs for me. As I said before, this game just isn’t made with your kind of gamer in mind. That’s really all there is to it.

I’d love to see how ANY developer could pull off Episode 11 WITHOUT it being a cutscene or QTE element.

EDIT: Let me not even get someone going. It’s not possible.

I dunno, there are games were you have to fight massive enemies, take out their legs until they’re weakened then QTE their face off so I guess you could go off of that. Obviously it would be near impossible to not have a QTE scene against Wyzen(?) when he’s bigger than (I assume) Earth.

There’s a reason why SF2 is still king, the SNES and PSX are remembered fondly and why the old arcade classics are still classic. People felt epic in Godhand because the game let you do epic things; that game was nothing but gameplay. Same wth Symphony of the Night; if they turned it 3D and added a bunch of shitty combos and QTE, the game wouldn’t be as epic. I need to have my familiars, broken sword and get my beatdown on motherfuckers (Aria of Sorrow was just as godlike in this sense too, maybe more because you had so many ways of bringing the pain).

But…SOTN is boring…

More because it’s retardedly easy (Which is a CV crime imo) then because of gameplay style tho.

Christ you’re annoying.

The fuck did I do?

GodHand sucked :coffee:

Fixed for you guys.
