Batman AA had one of my favorite demos ever.
Edit: I agree, the demo shouldn’t have been 2 bosses. One boss and just regular mooks would’ve been better.
Finally played the demo, why are they calling this Asura’s Wrath?
This is clearly NUNS3 with Naruto becoming badass & Jiraya less perv.
Anyways kinda agree with both thought pool, I rather have good combat for regulars & QTE for boss fight or a mix of both for boss.Seriously no QTE for regular enemies, that would kill the game.
What?!? That demo was awesome! It perfectly demonstrated the awesome combat and stealth mechanics that the game was based around to the player, I played the everloving hell out of that demo.
That demo can also be used as a demonstration as to what the Asura’s Wrath demo did wrong, as while Batman demonstrated the mechanics that the gameplay is based around, Asura’s Wrath only demonstrated two boss battles, so we don’t get a clear picture as to what the rest of the game will play like. Then again I am hugely biased for Batman seeing as how AA and AC are my personal game of the years for both their respective years.
Anyway despite some of the hate it’s recieving I’m still hoping that this game turns out to be as awesome as it looks. I mean come on! In the game you play a incredibly pissed off betrayed god, where one point you have a one on one fistfight on the moon with another god which ends in you getting launched off the moon by his 380’000km sword and impaled into Earth, as the sword keeps on travelling until it eventually comes out the other side of the entire freaking planet, all while the 4th movement of Dorvak’s New World Synthony is being played in the background.
That. Is. Hype. As. Fuck!
really? everyone told me to just get the game and not play the demo to begin with because it sucked
That sounds familiar
Seriously though: I hope it does well too, and has the substance necessary to get it some attention.
Asura’s rage is fun XP.
I felt that they handled it excellently, everything feels like you are taking part of the story. instead of the dodgy transference of [cutscene]mindless action[cutscene] you are fully involved in the drama. what I didn’t like about it was the fact there wasn’t any alternatives. I enjoyed their gameplay choice to expand on their DMC1 final boss fight shoot em up part. it felt like it was a shoot em up I could of happily played. all I care for is the little gameplay they add to this game is top quality, the story itself is wayyyyyyyyyyyy more interesting than anything else out there at the moment. it’s like a classic manga film has been made from the ground up

This is your fault you know, you set it up for me and I just couldn’t resist.
Anyway if this game flops, which for the record, I hope it doesn’t, at least there’s the DMC HD Collection?
only complaint I have about the game so far is the knockback on enemies when you hit them. when I hit someone it doesnt have they impact feel until you do a qte button sequence. I feel like im hitting people on some kind of oily block stun where my attacks just slide off of the thing im hitting. the movement is somewhat fluid and I love the classic anime ninja duel where they do the side run and chuck things at each other.
Not really relevant but Bleach Soul Resurreccion had the same problem too where it felt like you’re just punching and cutting paper, no impact whatsoever, and on top of that, you can barely put officers and bosses in hitstun early, which made doing comboing them next to impossible and reduced the game to a projectile fest. Yes you CAN combo them, but you have to spend time grinding up Soul Points leveling up your attacks’ hitstun value. :shake:
Yeah theres a couple of games that has stun value just like that bleach game except you dont have to build up stun points in combos. if this game is going to be as successful as god of war there going to have to fix that problem. now the game gives us a badass character we are playing extra arms and all so I dont think stunning someone should be an issue here. I think this games fighting mechnics plays just like an late ps1 game and early ps2 game thats trying to get the hang of the combo mechanic.
I think the word you’re looking for is immersive.
I don’t think anyone has said that this game is not interactive, it’s just that from the demo that we’ve played (which I might add warrants us to give an opinion) it has left us with the impression that the game lacks interactivity i.e actual gameplay. While this is obviously just a bad first impression that we got from a demo it doesn’t make our points or fears any less valid, and you know it’s great that there are videos outlining more of the actual game outside of just boss fights but like I said it could end up being a very shallow and unfulfilling game which is what the majority of people in this thread are feeling from it but don’t want it to be.
played it for 5 minutes, turned it off. will try again later. the qte shit was way to overwhelming. i fucking got so annoyed and just turned it off. lol
Quick question, do the QTEs actually make sense or have some kind of consistency like in Shenmue (hit punch button for punches, kicks for kicks etc) or is it like most other games where it’s just ‘Hit random button to get random effect’?
It has alot of consistency actually. Right stick for right arm and right leg movements, Circle for mashing and barrage like attacks, X for jumping, recoveries, etc.
I liked the demo. It reminded me a little of Bayonetta. The mashing in the second fight was a little too much, though.
Nah man, fuck this quicktime shit. I’m not usually one to complain about QTEs, I thought they were fine in the GOW series, but now I finally understand why people hate them so much. It’s boring. I’ve been waiting to touch this game for a while, and it’s a shame that the demo had to be ass because I love the art style, characters, and epic battle manga shit.
In a way, I’m not completely suprised because I already had a little doubt when I heard CC2 was on board.
This guy gets it
Wow that demo was kinda whack. I’ll wait for the movie lol.
Well this was fucking lame. why not make this into a movie. Its not batman, where there is more than 1 approach to the game with different dynamics, and open world exploration and toons of puzzles. Its a straight foward beat them up, its really not that hard to fuck up. But o Capcom, way to fuck it up. this shit is going to be as lame Bayonetta.
