Asura's Wrath: Japanese God of War

I knew I made one last year…

The thing that I need people to understand is this game was never intended to fill your Action RPG leveling up combat system void that was left by other games in the past. And while the dev did a bad job of emphasizing the game wasnt just QTE, a good portion of the action is, but that doesnt bother some people.

It is what it is and if you dont like that its fine. Just dont shit on the game if you are against QTE because thats what the game is.

Some people like them. Some people have 55 bucks to blow. shrug

I wouldnt rant about how much I’m not going to play it.

It’s just that if it were explained to us more clearly what this game is we’d probably ‘rant’ less. It wasn’t made clear from the start (and still isn’t honestly) what the majority of the gameplay is. I think that some of us are responding is because we WANT to like the game but we just need more of an experience besides a string of QTEs. I mean I’m not shitting on it when I talk about it. I think it’s cool and I want to support it but I need to be sure that there is more to it.

Just noticed that a lot of the QTEs against Wyzern are pointless. Whether you do them or not Asura will still continue with no damage or anything, it just makes Asura do the actions faster.

I was unimpressed.

This sounds very underwhelming :frowning: what a damn shame.

That’s pretty much how I feel. The presentation and visuals are great, characters designs are nice and I thought the english voice acting was decent in the demo. It’s definitely nice to see a new IP from Capcom so here’s hoping more is revealed before the launch and the game does well.

I remember reading in one of the impressions from a gaming site that the demos there were easier than what the game will be.

I think this is the same demo.

Well if you want to like the game but just cant then dont. Lets not be ridiculous and make this into a life or death thing. Heres two whole clips of gameplay but this is SRK, so I expect you to change the complaint to “why doesnt he have more moves?” or something equally as ridiculous.

The majority of this topic is just ignorance. Half of you heard of the game two years ago and pretty much forgot about it until the demo hit the other day and now you’re bitching about how there are too many quicktime events when the demo was two boss fights, and boss fights/gigantic enemies are a majority of where the QTE come from. The demo was to pull you into the action. Dont like, dont play! Simple as that.

I dont know why people feel a need to be justified in their feelings so much. Capcom isnt going to change the game to what you like. If you dont like dont play.

People have the right to bitch about whatever they feel like bitching about. This isnt just for complimenting the game and saying its awesome. People can say w/e the hell they want to about the game here.

And I am saying the bitching is without merit. So on that note you can have a penny for your thoughts.

In other words, We’re doomed. I knew it. I shoulda grabbed that chick’s ass and made her buttcheeks clap while I was in the store.

I’m currently trying out the new Choplifter HD remake. So far, I’m lovin it. Everything’s been updated and so far, no bad side. If you liked the old one, get ready to go choplifting again…And watch out for the reporters.

The irony in a quicktime event not being interactive.

I think the word people are looking for is “immersing.” Again, without warrant, or mastery of the Websters Dictionary.

QTEs aren’t immersive either. They barely qualify as game play. You can buy Simon Says at TRU for much cheaper then the asking price of this game and get the exact same game play experience.

I don’t agree. I think the QTEs in this game are really well done and feel really related to the action on screen, enough so that I got really excited during the fight with his former master. I just hope that in the final game failing really makes Asura fail that segment, not fail as in instant death, but I don’t think they’ll do that in this game

I think it just boils down to if a game can be several hours of QTE. Thanks to those videos that Grah Graaah posted it certainly doesn’t look that way.

arkham asylum had a shitty demo too IIRC. just sayin

Heavy Rain’s only real problem was the story falling a part in the end, aside from that it WAS a several hour QTE game, and it was immersive and exciting for the most part.

If the story is as intense and awesome as the demo lets it on to be, it will be an awesome experience for some people, though again I’m sure 95% of SRK won’t give a shit about it and really, the game just wasn’t for them in the first place I’d bet

Man I loved that demo. It was so cool : D

I’m going to get soul calibur with the little money i will have at the end of the month, but i will keep an eye on this one.

If the gameplay is well received in general (because i get nothing from the demo, it was awesome, but it gives me little idea how the rest of the game will be, should have just done wyzen and a section with regular mooks, augus was cool, but he kind of seems to come late in the game, and i find demos should take place early on, and one regular/one boss section would have given people ideas of what to expect)

If it’s gameplay is good i might get it, but if not and it’s all QTE than i will respect it as the next dragon’s lair, and watch it on youtube. That would suck because months ago it was on my definite buy list, but after playing the demo i realized im not enjoying the qte much(more than usual but still), I just want to watch the stuff, and there is no challenge, you fail you still win(then again with the sheer amount of parts it might get annoying dying so much). So I hope the gameplay stacks up.
