I just look at the nonsense like being able to go to a gun show and pretty much walk out with a gun.
And why can’t they start keeping tabs on people who are fucking stockpiling weapons or ammo? Like every time they find these fuckers, they always go back to their apartment and find like 30,000 rounds of ammo. Surely once you buy like 1000+ rounds of ammo, some sort of alarms should be going off.
buying several weapons, or having several weapons under you name puts you on a federal watch list already. IN California they run your ID and scan it to be collected for data when you buy
-any hand gun ammo
-any caliber of ammo commonly used by the military, 5.56, 7.39, .308, etc.
Even if we had that information available, you don’t know who is going to go postal or not. Unless you have regular government inspections to inspect your stockpile (which would be challenged rightfully so under discrimination and intrusion of privacy, unless you had a week’s notice of said inspection, which would invalidate the point of it) you can’t do much.
If the government wants to do something about mass shootings, it really needs to give a list of what it’s going to do. People like my dad abhor the idea of regulation, but supports mental aptitude. What he’s worried about is how it will be adminstered. Will being in anger management class bar you from ever being to own a weapon? In California, if an officer wants to, he can order you to go to anger management based on your response.
Still in full force here in California. Still illegal to own any of those weapons in the United States. I’d figure it’d be still be in place since when I went to Texas and went to a “gun show” they didn’t have any automatic M4’s.
(Hey, @odin. Did you want to add the name of the 14 victims to the front post? Just a thought. I’d do it, since I can edit everyone else’s posts, but I don’t want to assume that you want it there if you do. It’s your thread after all.)
I’m beginning to think we just have a “Gun Debate” thread even with as horribly as that would inevitably turn out instead of having it hi-jack literally every mass shooting thread that’s happened on SRK in at least the past three years. At the very least, it would keep the inevitable “pro-gun argument that takes the position of all pro-control people supposedly wanting to ban all guns because pro-control people supposedly think guns being gone will cure crime overnight even though pretty much no one in any SRK thread ever has ever said that” posts in one fucking place. Mars Christ.
That’s kind of the problem with most of America’s ills at the governmental level, unfortunately, not just with gun-related stuff.
Unfortunately the easiest way to do this would just be to kill all the people involved, but good luck with that even if you weren’t bothered by the “morality” of it. Otherwise, people in this country constantly vote against their interests one way or the other, even before fear-mongering and other BS sets in. Among other things, this country really needs more than two parties again that can actually take a good amount of seats, but good luck with that as well due to vicious cycles and such.
If you think that is bullshit then you need to research. I can’t pull any number of charitable atheist groups because there are barely any. And yes, Atheists have killed just as many people as religion research on the Soviet Union, Jim Jones, North Korea, Society of the Godless, Union of the Godless, Mao Zedong… fuck, an Atheist known as Pol Pot was the one responsible for the massive murders and downfall that still hurts Cambodia today. LOL at you saying “you don’t know shit”, if you actually think Atheism doesn’t have a high dramatic count then you probably never heard or learned about the men and groups i’ve mentioned. The fact that you think none of that ever existed shows you are uneducated on the subject.
And as with everything else, it’s hard to discern whether these killings by state were fueled by atheism at all. Sure, they could have been antitheistic but that doesn’t mean they killed people BECAUSE they were atheists. You can, however, say many wars throughout time were fought due to belief because they’ve been explicitly mentioned.
But I can’t own one in California (and the term assault weapon is some stupid made up bullshit word by the left), and California has stupid legislation that creates generalizations to ban any weapon they can. That means, anything with automatic receiver, is an assault weapon. I can’t buy one in California and go use it because then my shit will be pushed into oblivion, because they are illegal in California
I can’t own a basic AR-15 rifle unless I put a button on it. If I don’t want one, I need to remove the pistol grip on the rifle, but then you can’t even use the damn thing. And even with all of that, you still can’t own one, because the state passes legislation that bans rifles that weren’t illegal the year before it.
Yeah, in your** local church** because there are barely any local atheist charity groups known for you to join. Just because you are an atheist doing charity work that is runned/made by theists doesn’t give you points against what i said. There are no known charity orgs/groups held by atheists and even if there were some unknown ones, the amount of them is no where even close to the amount of theistic made charities we had in history. Until you fuckers have any known groups that have done humanitarian movements then you really are just point fingers like a bitch.
With your second comment, they were 100% fueled by atheism. Again research on the Soviet union, The Society of Godlessness, and the rest i posted… those were atheist movements. Why the fuck do you think Stalin outlawed religion, went around schools forcing atheism, and massacred every single church in his area? Jim Jones even said “i will use religion to bring people to atheism” when he built his fake ass cult and made one of the worst mass murders in recent time.
For anybody to think that Atheism is such a better thing to have over religion, as if it is all clean, doesn’t know jack about it. Like I said, go fly to North Korea and tell me if things are better with theism non-existent.
I’m not a theist either but it’s a pain in the ass when atheists go on this moral high ground and make it look like their view points is the best for humanity when history shows it’s just as bad and probably even worse due to any positive groups/works known.
what’s the point of any watchlist in a free country? The moment you act against people on a watchlist in a free society, you infringe on privacy laws, and laws against unjust incarceration. Which makes the current laws retarded to begin with.
Any firearm legislation that wants to be passed today needs to be done better than the current laws which do absolutely nothing to curb actual violence. For the raging hard on that the left has agaisnt “assault weapons”, they sure as fuck wouldn’t dare fuck with the actual weapnos responsible for about 95% of all firearm realated deaths in the United States
One of the biggest morons that pushes gun restriction, but wouldn’t dare restrict handguns. Which hilariously, are the primary weapons still used in mass shootings.
Well God forbid cops fire on a group of people that just shot-up a community center. Tell me more about how horrible the cops are for doing their job.
JFC you are racist.
“That’s racist.”
It took you one second to make an assumption. And why? What right-wing group was responsible for any of the recent mass-shootings? Oh that’s right: None.
The Sandy Hook shooter, wasn’t a terrorist. He didn’t do it in the name of an ideology. He didn’t do it to scare people. He just snapped. He killed his mother, drove to her workplace, and killed as many people as he could. There was no note. Nobody knows the exact reason. Since there was none, it cannot be assumed to be an act of terror. Simply an act of madness. Also, several of his guns were owned illegally. (So much for gun control!)
The KKK is a joke. They haven’t been relevant since the 1970s. When’s the last time the KKK committed a mass shooting? When’s the last time the KKK blew-up a building? They are hardly terrorists. And you… You want people that could be seen as being sympathetic to them, to be labeled terrorists? That’s crazy. Fearing the KKK is like being afraid Hitler will return and Nazis will break down your door at any moment.
Timothy McVeigh is/was widely considered to be a domestic terrorist.
This is clearly the fault of white racists and not Muslim extremism. You’ve convinced me.
Because putting people on a watchlist would be the easiest way ever for a government to oppress its people. There are 72 members of homeland security on the terrorist watchlist.
Facts aren’t even required most of the time to get on the watchlist.
(Wow, the lack of effort in this trolling is astounding. At the same time, we’ve made it past Missing Person and Rick Ross’s doomsday prediction already. Yay?)
Still, good to know I’m a racist apparently. I’ll be expecting my membership card in the mail since I’ve yet to receive it and I totally want to be card-carrying racist. People won’t believe me otherwise since I’m a minority and supposedly minorities can’t be racist, which is totally stupid.
