Ask the Random God of Mvc2 anything

I know it’s been said you can, but I’d just like to point this out, the PS2 version has all infinites, it has sent unblockable, and just about any other useful strat you can use in tourny MVC2.

Those guardbreak seem okay , it’s mostly on sent that I have a problem , seems like he can just mash and stuff my lk\hk.

I need a good guardbreak for sent cause he is too much for me , to ad on that what can I do when sent\cap is stomping me ?? I play mss and i just try to sj out but cap will stop me. Il also try and push block but to no avail I try sj lk to rom him but he is just far enough so I miss or he FP my face and in the end il just sit there then hel come down with c.sk fly unfly crazyness. I dont know what to do, this applys to all three characters.

Your timing is bad.

what doesn’t work? these guardbreaks? im not saying anything bad here, but i’ve used these guardbreaks since then and it works fine for me. maybe you’re doing something wrong regarding the timing.

ok man… Tnx

when would you do the starting sj.lk?

is it after falling from your sj or you hit the lk as soon as you sj?

I’m talking about the one I put in my post, but removed because it was ridiculously hard to do.

If anyone hasnt seen this match http://youtube.com/watch?v=tdWdlJ_W2w8

I have a question regarding the cable duel when a cable ( i think potter) AHVB high up in the air and the other cable throws a grenade, How did he do it cause I tried the other day and it didnt work , i suppose you must hold down the k but is there a specific way of doing it? like either lk or hk or how high you are and if you hold down or not . thank you

great match btw

Damn I forgot to add that when threw the nade it got the other cable then he AHVB him.

oh i see. im sorry.

@ Ryo: what do you mean? you do the ad/f after the opponent blocks the sj.lk by then both lk and mk after the ad/f would hit since it’s a guardbreak already (obviously). just delay the ad/f a little bit

just a matter of positioning. Both grenades have specific arcs, and if you are above cable you have to just know where you are and take into account the path the grenade is going to take to make it hit. Generally you need to hold short grenade.

um this is nothing serious… it just came to me about wondering what spped do ppl like Jwong and professionals use at like evo and stuff like that?

Turbo

and they play that speed on dreamcast too? i couldve sworn they always used turbo 2…cuz a couple of years ago on the old evo2k page…the tournament rules for marvel tournament said that the speed would be on turbo 2?
here :http://www.evo2k.com/2005/rules.php#mvc2

Hm. At the arcade where I’m at, you can only select Turbo or Normal speeds. I practice on the Dreamcast on Turbo, and that feels like the arcade speed.

I checked the link and it doesn’t say that the speed is Turbo 2.

when i checked the mvc2 section on the link…which is like below the regular rules and stuff it said speed 2…and im wondering what they meant by that…and anyway dont all mvc2 arcades start out on turbo unless configured or something?

umm i’m not sure if the machine itself has a turbo setting on that user screen but when you select your characters, one of the people get to choose normal or turbo for the speed. I used to nerf magnetos down to normal back in the day so it would make him less fast. You can really tell theres a difference, even though it made the game slower, magneto lost his god like speed to an extent and it made some of his shit easier to block. I wonder if thats allowed for tourney play?

sneak em ftw.

Hey Jesse, I just want to know something.

If I want to play Cable/Sent/Gambit (This is for fun I would never enter a MvC2 tourney, as I would be wasted quickly in a matter of seconds) What assists should I give my guys?

Wait so you’ve got two god tiers, and just because your 3rd character is gambit, the whole team would get wasted with little effort?

I can’t play this game for shit. But my friends at school love to play this game, so I’d might as well learn the very minimal basics of this game to play it.
