Armored U1 seems to work well in the Akuma match-up where Akuma’s cr.hk OS U1 would usually beat Abel’s EX CoD.
anyway

armor cancel ex roll = 2 meters lol
it’s a nerf, they nerf the armor cancel, now you will lose meter when using armor cancel.
weird that normal rolls won’t work… but ex do…
How do I win the guile match
no they didnt nerf armor cancellin
you wont lose meter if you cancel into a non ex move
and you will only lose one (two if you fucked up) if you cancel into ex move
I don’t know if anyone’s mentioned this but you can also Armor Cancel into Focus Attack for no bars. If you do it wrong, 3 bars! Practical applications?? Armor Cancel TT seems better in every situation.
Edit: Oh wait, I was wrong. I think I was just missing the EX Cod input and just Focusing on wake up instead. Either that or I lost the timing altogether. Oh well, it was useless anyway.
You are tight I messed up the inputs, I take back what I said.
What’s your opinion on the Abel v. Sakura match-up? I struggle hardcore once she’s in with her jab and lk tatsu BS.
:clown::party: Merrrrrrrry Christmas Everyone! :china: :lovin:
Strider,
I have a tough time going against Guy players or maybe that character in general. I don’t know why, but everything comes out from Guy just feels so safe (his strings, Honzanto hit/guard stun, slide). What should I do?
block all of his stuff.
and when he’s frustrated that youre blocking, he might try to jump, AA him and start your offense… guy has a hard time dealing with abel’s offense too.
on top of that, know his range where he will do slide etc… and show him that youre willing to focus punish the slide so that he will consider using hozanto instead, and you can just jump and punish hozanto if timed properly or just beat it with st.lk etc… the point is so he wont want to slide so much in fear of gettin crumpled… also ex CoD is good too at slide range (by slide i mean d.hk not the special move)
/notstriderthough
Pretty much what HFX said… Guy isn’t that scary when you learn to stop pressing buttons. He doesn’t have anything serious that makes you want to press buttons. He just has a couple of good pokes with a OK walk speed…whoop-dee-doo. Just block against him and find the right time to blow through his shit with EX.TT, or just keep blocking, he isn’t going to kill you with chip damage.
BTW, Guy gets blown up by st.hp even when crouching, which is a HUGE bonus in any match-up for Abel.
Thanks HFX and strider. I guess one of my downfalls in playing this game is being patient. Thats probably one of the reasons. =/
except on counter hit- Weird I know
Do you have some good tips on Ultra 2? I couldn’t find any info on it since it was redone for 2012 as the only info i did find was about how it sucked in AE.
Is it useful to use again since 2012? The few times i’ve tried to use it on non fireball characters i always seem to just use it as a punish for when people really mess up (Missed cannon drills, moves with long recovery, ect.) and I’d like to try to get this more into my mix ups during those matches.
HFX, i love your videos, keep them coming, I learn a ton from them, new tricks, match up tips, ect
It’s still good. meaty cr.lp OS U2 is still good to beat wake-up dashes, and U2 still punishes things like a blocked Honda headbutt.
quick question, anyone can really answer it~~~
During abel’s fadc bnb, why do most ppl do the sky grab by canceling the cr fierce instead of doing a short roll then sky grab?
I mean it is small meter gain, but it is at least a hit jab’s worth. Is it really only because its easier to consistently do fierce skygrab if you cancel it??
people do that for max damage(well technically, since cr.hp xx ex wheel kick does slightly more damage but not a hard knockdown) since against a majority of the cast, you cant do(or harder to land) cr.hp xx lk roll into hp falling sky and have to resort to using mp falling instead for less damage
cr.hp xx hp falling sky works against everyone
cr.hp xx lk roll hp falling sky works against a few chars, i dont remember them all but dan, boxer, sagat too i think, and maybe a few more…
I haven’t used U2 at all since SSF4, so I probably can’t answer this. I can tell you that U1 is the better ultra in every match-up so far… There are no bad uses to it, and it becomes a huge comback tool once you have 2 meters.
Also, Abel’s worst matchups in 2012 are Akuma and Adon…Discuss
