HI all,
I’ve recently got an ASCII Stick 3 for Playstation, but the LCD screen doesn’t seem to work at at all.
I found this thread here: The Programmable Stick/Pad Thread! which talks about the LCD not “completely lighting up”.
The OP talks about using a PSX to DC adapter with a power supply to get the display to work, but I really want to use this with my PS1.
Does anyone have experience with this arcade stick?
Thanks!
If you reread the OP of the thread you linked, you would see that, to get the stick working on the Dreamcast, that’s when you need the adapters and the external power source, because that’s the case where there LCD screen doesn’t show properly because the Dreamcast is very finicky in its controller port power levels. So that doesn’t apply to you at all if you’re looking to use it on your PS1/PS2.
That being said, if the rest of the stick works properly but the LCD/programmable part doesn’t, then it’s likely something on that board directly.
I personally have no experience with that stick, but if you want some additional help, you’d be best to post clear pictures of the internals and PCBs; others might be able to help troubleshoot.
Right, I didn’t know that about the Dreamcast. I had just assumed that this stick had a general issue with the LCD. I’m sure I some discussion on a Japanese site about it that mentioned some issue with the screen.
I’ll do some more research into the issue, then.
