Art's Hobbies - DIY Acrylic Cases

As long as you don’t have a Bruce Banner psychotic episode and Hulk smash the case it will be fine.

Placed my order for a tek case 11 days ago. Eagerly awaiting my e-mail… I can’t stand the wait!!!

The button artwork is such a nice touch.

Sorry guys to ask this question, but my time is short on here at the moment and I can’t find what I’m looking for through the search. Has anyone taken the guts of the MadCatz TE 360 stick (with or without buttons/joystick) and put it into one of these cases?

Closest thing I’ve seen was Ragnorok using HRAP PCB. But I think arthong used a TE PCB zip-tied to the PCB holder, but I don’t remember where I saw that picture. Or maybe it was fightpad. I know I saw some picture iwht a TEK-Case and the madcatz barrier strip… somewhere >_>.

In either case, it is completely possible to put TE PCB, wire harnesses, barrier strip, and then connect to to buttons and joystick in TEK-CASE and it’ll work just fine. You just won’t have a spot for Turbo panel.

Damn, I forgot about that lol. I don’t care about the turbo part, but I do care about the guide button and DP, LS, RS functionality…bleh lol

Got my Tek-Case in today! All clear type B. Also got fluorescent red side decors (hearts), a fluorescent red JLF mounting plate, a clear arrowed dust washer and some clear weight slots. I wish the fluorescent red would have gone with the pink better but it works. Hopefully one of these days Art starts offering some parts in pink acrylic and I can reorder a bunch of the parts I would rather have matching my buttons/ball.

Everything has gone together pretty well except for a few issues. The back panel was missing in the package (the reason it’s not on the stick in the pictures). I emailed Art about it so hopefully I get can that panel ASAP so I can finish my stick. The other problem is that the screws I have for the bottom of the stick go right through the diamond joints, so I can’t hold the bottom plate or the feet on the stick (the reason there is no bottom plate in the pictures).

As far as the rest. I stripped 1 of the 4 screws on my JLF mounting plate and haven’t been able to take it off yet (the reason the new plate is not on the stick yet in the pictures). And if you get the weight slot side panels you can’t put side decors on it (at least the hearts). I plan on putting them on the back panel when I get it. It’s not wired up yet because I have a ChImp PCB but I am thinking about waiting to get a PS360 PCB to make everything look cleaner and selling my ChImp. I also still need to buy some screws for the PCB and for the Neutrik adapter. When it’s all done I want to add LEDs too. Hopefully the Arc-Eye 2 will be out soon!

I want an all black acrylic top what would be the recommendation. An extended cover or a full plexi replacement?

The full plexi replacement is only if you want to change button layouts/move the location of the stick, or if you want to get rid of the metal panel so you can see the insides of the stick and such.

If you’re planning on keeping the default button layout then the extended cover should be just fine. There’s also less chance of cracking the plexi.

If you get a cutout for a Neutrik, does the package include the right screws to secure it to the panel? If not, what kind of screws are needed?

If you are using RJ-45, the screws come with the Neutrik. If using NAUSB, you have to get your own. I don’t remember the screw size. You could probably have it sized up at any hardware store.

Small update. I went and bought the correct screws for the bottom panel and put that on. Then I managed to get the stripped screw off of the JLF mounting plate and mounted the JLF with the new plexi mount. I also bought the hardware to put the Neutrik in (also the hardware to mount the PCB to the PCB plate when it comes in). I am hoping to use the JLF mounting spacers that came with the case (and were replaced with the plexi mount spacers) for the PCB. I screwed the hearts on the back just to get an idea what it will look like since I haven’t heard from Art (it’s only been a couple of days) about my missing back panel. And it’s still not wired since I decided to go with the PS360 instead of the ChImp to make the stick look cleaner and it won’t be in for a few more days.

So my case is coming in the mail any day now, which I am so stoked for, but I have a question or two.

  1. I have the Neutrik NAUSB, but no screws, I’m assuming the case does not come with the scres for it, so what size screws should I pick up at the hardware store?
  2. While on the subject of screws, the case will come with all the necessary screws to put it together, right?
  3. Does it come with rubber feet? I’m ordering some aluminum feet from Shadaloo.eu but they will be ariving a week or so after my case. Will the case come with the right screws for the feet?

Sorry for all the screwy questions… AHEM anyways. Thanks in advance!

  1. The screws I got for the Neutrik are #4-40 x 3/4" but you can also do 1/2" or probably even shorter.

  2. It comes with all the screws you need except for the screws to mount the Neutrik adapter and the screws to mount the PCB to the PCB plate.

  3. The case comes with rubber feet and screws for the feet (they are the same screws as the top panel, except 3/4" instead of 1/2" to account for the rubber feet). My case came with the wrong screws for the bottom, but I would imagine that is a rarity and they are easy to find at a home depot anyways.

Art where are you! lol. I am sure you are busy filling the holiday orders still but it’s been 5 days since I emailed you about the missing panel from my case. I sent a reminder email like your site said to do. I would just order another one, but I would really rather not pay 3.50+10.00 for a piece I already paid for xP.

Well my debt is all clear, the holidays over…and my kid isnt here yet to absorb any joystick money i have. Time to order a tek case! Its honestly been a while since i stuck my head in here…are the cases tracking pretty much two weeks out still? Have there been any reported issues? Are the weighted bb shots panning out pretty well? Anyone used thepurple plezi yet?

Well i can vouch that the Shipping time is still 1-2 Weeks ( mine shipped on the 13th Day)
But once its shipped it gets there fairly fast mine shipped Friday got here today (mon)
This is my 3rd Order from Art and i have 0 Complaints Everything was shipped accordingly wasn’t missing a single piece however seeing as to how i have gotten it today i cant give much of a review for my stick isn’t all wired up yet lol but i definitely love it cosmetically.

Your best bet for further question is to contact his email he maybe have some purple plexi laying around to give you a sample.
but there is a waiting time on emails he usually gets back to you in about 2-5 days from my exp.

Grr… I can’t find the template for etching for the tek-case. Anyone know where I cn find it? I’ll keep searching.

  • :bluu:

Use TEK-CASE top template, just like for artwork, use button configuration of your TEK-CASE:
Welcome to Art’s Hobbies

However, it must be a greyscale, and if it has details, you need to invert it. You should read this about etchings to understand: Welcome to Art’s Hobbies

ah there’s the link, thanks =)

What I’m planning is two tone anyways so I’m gold, just couldn’t find the link for the etching templates.
