Art's Hobbies Big Update! 1/32" Acrylic, V.S., Pro, Qanba, HRAP V3/VX, Custom Art Dustwashers

i’m guessing he might not want to do that kind of experiment on his own SE as if it did pull too hard or the screws didn’t fit right, it might do some damage.

i’d love to see it though, because i would have no problem with visible screw tops on my SE if i could get a plexi shield/temp art cover…

i hear ya… but i think it would work out fine! i mean for the TE u have to screw it down as well… so it wouldnt look bad at all!

maybe some rivets instead of screws would look nicer and more flush with the plexi!

my friends dad has been working with plexi glass and other glass products since he was like 18… he said he could make one for me. so once he does ill post pics of it. hopefully it’ll turn out nice so art can get more ideas for y’all!

Very nice I like it!

got my art and plexi today, it looks great  will post pics sometime tommorow

PM sent Arthong

great job BTW.

That’s the same template I’m going to use on my TE. Your stick looks great and a lot more vibrant than looking at the .psd on my PC.

I haven’t decided which colour buttons/balltop to use with it, I was thinking of light blue or red.

before I got my buttons in, using the scrap plexi to custom cut some art

after I got my buttons, using the print art made for me

ordered again from arthong. my stuff looks great, he even went the extra mile and got the color on my artwork looking right. the pics are buried somewhere in the stick gallery thread.

great customer service thanks art!

^^^ whoa that old lady with the pearl neck less is not something you see everyday on these forums!

Potential solution: take the screen holes that hold the metal plate to the plastic shell to use for the SE screw hole suggestion?

I dunno.

Man, internet at home has been crapping out! This pisses me off as I can’t even program my site. My only hope is that it gets stabalized by later today so I can go full force on finishing the site on the weekend… such bad timing! And going through 3 tech ppl with AT&T who gave contradicting directions and results… man, I’m so freakin frustrated right now =P.

Alright, let me get some questions real quick before DSL craps on me again.

Thanks SeedyROM, DartSebious and Goukisan for sharing your mods =)

Let me get through my internet troubles and fix the site up first, then we move on to raffle =D. Also Want to do a couple more designs to raffle off so I’ll see what time I have to do everything… doh!

To Answer the SE questions. First off, there’s no problem with me drilling my SE to test things out. In fact, it’s many thanks to Eckz 3 for he helped hook me up with his SE remnants. I just need to add buttons and a new jlf to use it, but considering I’m more interested in using the SE to make the plexi it’ll probably remain dismantled until I get this whole process down.

Now in terms of adding holes to SE panel, here’s what is likely required for the corners of the plexi to stay in place (marked by the red circles):

Now here’s a big problem. The PCB is on that right side. This makes it very dangerous for people to drill. They would probably have to take a lot more effort to becareful, or even remove the PCB first. This will require a bit of extra work.
Aside from that, you’ll likely need hex nuts glued under the plastic for the screws to stay in place after you drill the hole through the plastic.

It’s a lot to consider. Unfortunately I won’t have a lot of time to truly experiment with this for a while. And I’m afraid to sell the plexi with those two holes in that area because of the PCB and the work involved for others. I mean, I could very well put a disclaimer up and say do it at your own risk… but I just don’t feel comfortable selling something and telling ppl “Sorry if you fuck up”.

What I can do is give out a couple of free SE plexi’s with those two extra holes and let selected, experienced, stick modders go at it and perhaps write a tutorial on a good method to do so. With a tutorial available at least it will provide people a better idea of what to expect and how to be successful, rather than hoping for the best.

So let me get my site back up, take care of my internet connection and start working with people on the new productions, then I’ll get back to the SE and look for experienced people who want to give it a go first.

Thanks everyone! Ok… net going crazy, I better post now.

Oh, I see the problem now. I forgot there wasn’t one on the bottom…

Hmm, to the drawing board again.

Holy shite! I just saw the new plexi’s with the laser-etchings! That stuff looks incredible!
I’m especially interested in the Ryu one and will definately buy one (or two) when it becomes available.

My brother loved his suprise gift and hes playing it right now as i post this haha.thanks for the quick shipment
i’ll be ordering again in the near future for my TE as well

May have been asked before but what is the thickness of the plexi glass? 1/8 or 1/16?

update on my stick, dark blue sanwa balltop, dark blue 24mm sanwa pushbuttons 3 red and blue seimitsu pushbuttons. that is dark blue, came out light somehow…sanwa needs to redo their colors man. and their blue looks like baby blue.

http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i37/marzbar03/011.jpg

couple questions for you art:

  1. i have clear top seimitsu buttons for my te stick. can you print my pic and cut out the holes for the buttons but keep the cutouts in tact so that i can put them in my buttons?

  2. one of my the screws for the top panel is stripped so i’m not using it right now. can you leave this one screw hole in the plexi when you cut it so that there are only 5 holes?

  3. also is it possible to send you my proposed pic now for you to see what you think of it and if you think anything needs to be altered?

thanks!

Thanks arthong for his beautiful plexiglass work and packaging!

Printed the artwork on 12 x 18 80# Cougar cover paper on our crappy laser printer at work. Hardest part was cutting the artwork’s button holes. Should have die cutted it. Thank god I also bought another damaged plexiglass for the cut (which was, btw, pretty much flawless, that proves right there that arthong has high standards for his product. I cried a little inside when I accidentally scratched it with my xacto). Next time I’m gonna use some epson photo paper instead, easier to cut and better quality, color contrast, etc.
