Hey Art, nice etching man! What etching machine and software are you using if you don’t mind me asking? I work with an old Vision engrave router and a few plotters. My boss just bought a laser engraver so thats going to be quite exciting to learn how to use.

Got my artwork and pexi from Art. Looks FANTASTIC. Will post pics once the final mods are done

Website will be down from 5/27/09 Evening to 6/2/09 for major changes:

Sorry for the short notice, but I'll need to take the site down later this evening until probably next Monday or Tuesday.

There's a lot of new development to what I'm offering and many options to choose from. I need to create a new product and cart system to better handle your order. So here's pretty much what to expect by the time the site is back up:

** Availability of VSHG Cover
** Availability of TE Extended Cover
** Availability of TE Full Panel Cover
** Availability of various etching options
** More accurate Art Template PSD for each cover to download
** Better way to select order options (ie: No start/select, add etching to lower ** right, etc.)
** Showcase to show off your stick mod! Tentitive
** And whatever else I can fit in that time frame

This needs to be done in order to bring you a better order experience, and a smoother way for me to apply all your options. And while the site is down, I can concentrate on fulfilling the rest of my pending orders then set aside time to make the changes. I can’t take time away from people while they wait for their order to ship.

There is one slight additional cost to note. Initially when people ask for no turbo button or no start/select, or no mid screw cuts, I happily oblige without extra charge. But throughout those requests I’ve found a slight problem that I can’t ignore. For one, it does take a little extra time to setup. But the main thing is when something goes wrong (beyond my control) and it becomes a flawed piece, I can’t resell it as a pattern because it’s relatively unique. So that piece usually ends up trashed. And it takes time to set everything up to make another one with those specifications because I don’t make extras of those. This has happened a bit more often than I would like. But all I’m asking is like 75 cents for those requests, so hope that’s ok with you guys.

So hopefully you guys will bear with me =). Thanks again everyone for your support. I could not do all this without you =D!

Thats possible, for those who want to do that. Perhaps if there’s enough people interested in that I’ll prepare a batch.

Thanks sir!

Thanks again buddy, glad you like everything, and I appreciate the packaging testimonial =)

Will be included in my big site update. Thanks!

Replied in other thread. Basically great stuff!

Basically I’m running an Epilog Laser Cutter, and the standard Software used is CorelDraw. You can use other programs like Illustrator, CAD, etc. But the industry standard is CorelDraw so most references will use that. What I do is make modifications and such in another program, like Photoshop or illustrator, then import it into Corel and make some fine tuning there. It’ll be quite a bit of exploring and testing to find the right settings for your project. I’m still playing with settings myself =)

Looking forward to it!

Got my plexi and artwork yesterday, looks fantastic, thanks Art.

Note to others that haven’t installed there’s yet, make sure the buttons are in straight before really trying to snap them in, I was installing a button yesterday and didn’t notice it was a bit crooked and put a small crack in the plexi. Not knocking Arts product by any means, as this was caused by me not being careful enough. I installed it on 2 TE’s and this only happened with one button so this stuff is nice and durable, and I believe what I did had been stated before so I should of known better, haha.

Art, we talked a few weeks ago. My artwork is finally done, so when you get back up I’d like to submit it to you. My guy took a TON of time fine tuning it to how I wanted, so I’d like to submit it to you to make sure you can fit the whole thing as a print before I order, if that’s at all possible. I’ll probably be doing a full cut to cover the whole panel. The art really looks beautiful, so I want to make sure none of it gets cut off.

Also, the button label etching is a great idea. I’ll definitely add that if it’s an option. I’ll be ordering when you get back up.

Finally got all my equipment together to do my mod! Just wanted to give a big thanks to Art for the fanatstic work. I defintely couldnt have done this without you man. Heres the finished work!

nice artwork magnus!! and looks like ill be ordering some plexi next week…

Hey quick question, what exactly is an extended cover and the full panel cover for the TE? I just picked up a plexi from art and waiting for some art before I get started so I was curious on what those 2 are.

The plexi cover the full top of the TE for the Full Panel. For the Extended Cover it gets rid of the red bezel / trim thing and adds about a quarter inch of plexi to make up for the space.

More detail here: http://forums.shoryuken.com/showpost.php?p=6770563&postcount=510

I got the shipping confirmation from paypal Arthur, but does that mean the art is included as well? That was sooner than expected.

I have no experience with Epilog but I’ve been working with CorelDraw since v. 3.0. I usually design on Corel and then export to another sign software like Casmate, Inspire, Gerber Omega, etc. since I usually have to plot or engrave my designs. The sign industry tends to favor FlexiSign (and other sign soft) since you can run most hardware with it but I just like the ease of designing and creating on Corel. Sounds like you and I do things very similarly with software. Many thanks for your reply, I know you’re a busy guy! Keep up the great work!

It should be. I ordered something similar and got both my art and pexi. Packed great btw

Aye. your submission was a relatively common one a while back so I still had it in my USB archive folder. So while I was Kinkos for a short time I just printed it out. And a ton of just plexi orders are going out today. Still some backup on some people with art, which will be taken care of shortly.

Agreed, Corel is pretty simple to use, which is why the laser cutting industry tends to favor it. Most things can be done relatively quickly which is where it shines. So since you’re so familiar with it already, just do your design and print directly to the cutter and it should be all good! Well, unless you happen to have a cutter that’s out of the norm and does things entirely different… but all the laser cutter research I’ve done (and it was a lot) has used Corel as their app for examples, so that’s what I’m basing it on. =)

I’m hoping I can get some time operating the laser cutter but it looks like my boss wants to bring in someone who already knows how to operate it. I’m already quite busy with engraving and vinyl jobs so to add laser cut jobs would just put more on my plate. Besides, if I try to do it, it won’t come out nearly as good as your work so I’ll leave that to you for now, lol. I’ll be ordering my plexi and artwork from you very soon…I’m working on my own design that I’ll be sending you.

Hi Art! I was wondering if you still have access to mdsfx art? I was going to order this art along with the plexi on 6/2 when your site goes live again. I had already pm’d mdsfx a couple of days ago but haven’t got a response back yet. Please let me know if you have that Vewlix art, and if I need to tell you anything special when I order, I greatly appreciate it!!

where did the art from this come from? Looks great!

Update to personal laser printing

I don’t know how many people caught that I had procured a laser printer for the print jobs, but here’s an update to that.

Scratch the personal Laser printer idea. I was able to discover a flaw with it. When printing images with a lot of solid colors (ie: background is like 80% black), there are issues with the rollers that cause an inconsistency of that particular color. So I may get an area that’s not fully evened out. Kinda defeats the purpose. So with a lot of testing and chatting with the sales reps for Xerox (I got a Xerox Phaser 8260), they eventually came to telling me that handling a large solid color area may come out uneven due to the rollers. Now, on regular thin paper it’s not that noticeable. But I’m printing on some pretty good 110lb cardstock… it makes it a lot more noticeable.

Even for a $800 laser printer, this problem exists which boggles my mind. When printing out artwork that has a good mix of colors, it comes out perfect. It’s just the abundant solid color issue. Now if I bought one of those Xerox Docuprint printers that kinkos use, oh say for $15k - $25k, then we won’t have that problem =P.

Riiiight…

The other alternative is to print full color myself, but for artwork that has an abundance of one particular color I’d go to kinkos… but still, considering a lot of print submissions have a lot of black, that’s still a lot of allocated time going back n forth. And I don’t think a lot of people like the Ink Jet printing idea so at this point I think I’ll be sticking with just Kinko’s printing and not much choice but to increase the pricing a bit. I’m thinking prob $12 instead of $15, so I’ll refund the $3 for those who paid $15.

It kinda pisses me off. Finally found a printer than can print really damn well… but has this issue. @#&*!

Cool, looking forward to see what you design =)

I’ve gotten a few viewlix submissions but I don’t recall if I printed MDSFX’s. I may have and need to search my archives. But I’m not sure who the author of this artwork is. If it’s MDSFX, I’d much prefer you get permission from him first. If it was common art that is already passed around for people to print then I usually help print it.

But if it’s pretty unique and I haven’t seen it around, and you’re not the one submitting it to me, I’d prefer that you get permission first before I pull it out of my archives.

I’m sure if you were the author you’d prefer that too =). Thanks for understanding.
