Art's Hobbies Big Update! 1/32" Acrylic, V.S., Pro, Qanba, HRAP V3/VX, Custom Art Dustwashers

Great work Art, I’m really liking that etching option… are you able to etch the Street Fighter IV logo?? I like how you etched the button labels but aren’t those a little close to the edge and will be covered up by the button rim?? Very proffesional, thanks for providing this service for us!!

I was wondering how the bend on the plexi would turn out for the SE and figured that would be a problem. I think the best option like sakeido said would be adding some screws atleast 4 or 6 to secure it down.

Hey Art,

Is it possible to countersink flathead screws into the top of the plexi?
The standard hex screws bulge up and irritates my left palm when I play.
Using a countersinking drillbit may crack the plexi. I’m really having problems finding a solution that is comfortable. The full panel plexi with countersunk screws might be the answer I’m looking for.

That is definitely a very possible solution. The only variable in this case is where you position your new holes so that I know where to cut mine. It’s something to consider… we’ll just have to work closely to get it right.

You’re absolutely right, those labels are too close to the holes. I realized this too after the etch, but I was trying to get the letters to show up in the Black area of the art, since I had no time to make my own to show. So this is just a sample, the official etchings will be fixed =). And Yes, I can etch the SF4 logo, and have done a couple of keychains of it. I’ll post later on how that looks. But of course, the problem is I can’t blatantly advertise etching the SF4 logo for monetary exchange without the risk of copyright violation. I may try to offer it as a “custom” service type thing where you’re the one providing me the art to etch, but I can’t offer it on my site directly. Will have to look into that.

Unfortunately the 1/16" plexi is too thin to countersink it enough to fit the existing TE screws. Even if I countersink it just a tad bit, or as much as it can handle, it’s not enough to prevent these screws from protruding. Your best bet, for your situation, is to look for countersunk screws. A countersunk screw head of the right size will actually fit pretty snug within these holes.

For example, with the SE’s countersunk screws, the screws fit in very well without needing to countersink my plexi holes. That may be an option.

All this new news is too coolness!
A lot of options make this Service banging.

Super good work arthong.

good stuff Art!!! looking at funds to make another other soon hopefully!..

Do the buttons fully snap in? I read somewhere in this thread that the buttons don’t full snap in? Are the buttons tight or loose when you install the plexi?

they fully snap in… i just put my obsf’s back in and they sit flush and just right… all you got to do is sand down the sides so they just slide right in and snap into place.

As far as the screw ins they work fine just have to be careful when tightening it.
As far as the snap ins, if you got sanwa and you look at the part you push or the part that snaps, it has three lines on it, on the plexi it doesn’t fully snap but it goes to the first or second line so it’s secure and doesn’t move around, if that makes any sense.

Hello Art,

This is David order #AH050609N683 and thank you once again for the great customer service. I only received the one email stating that you will look for the vielix file in your archives and that is it. I would like to order 1 art print for my HRAP3 and 2 for the TE’s. I will provide you with the link to the art becasue I am not able to email you the psd file for some odd reason. I am very interested in the viewlix so whenever you have time, please email at one100bill@yahoo.com Also I will email you some pictures of the “markings” I am talking about and I did wipe down the plexi with a microfiber cloth. FYI, the plexi is fine but creates these “markings” when it makes contact with my stock art .

Thanks,
David

wow man, etching looks sick.

kinda wish I woulda waited to place a couple of those now, but it’s all good.

now I’m wondering if someone was to send you, say, a clean black/white (no grey) image file, would your machine be able to etch something complex like that into the plexi?

reason being, people could start coming up with some really hot shit, like engraved character art on the plexi, then putting just a solid gradient or colors down for the printed background art to make the plexi stand out once applied to the top of it.

you may really want to look into that if it’s a possibility. I’m sure it would cost more to produce, but your talking about 100% customized plexi if that is a possibility. I’m sure people would be more then willing to pay for something like that, I know I would be.

i decided to take pictures of sanwa OBSFs and seimitsu ps-14-KNs with the plexi for anyone eles that has any questions about fitment and such…

OBSFs fit real nice and if you sand down the sides they slide right in and snap in place… and in addition to having the sides sanded down… they pop right out if you want to change em… they dont go anywhere if once you put em in too… and the ps14s you got to get tight enough so they dont get loose… other than that… theyre a great button option too… hope this helps!!

Hey art, I placed my order 2-3 days ago, would it be possible to delay my order until the front 6 button “TE Extended” panels are available? I hate the bezel and that’s the perfect solution. I pm’d you the order # and email as well.

I wanna know when TE bottom plexi and artwork are available.

I was going to place an order but the new developments are sweet as hell. I’m going to hold of until the TE extended and etching services are available.

nice work, I’ll be putting in an order for two, one for TE and one for HRAP3 soon!

Good info… thanks. I ordered some of those clear seimitsu’s and they look good, can’t wait to get em. Is there a type of paper that works best for putting the pictures in the buttons?? I read in the template thread that 90 lbs. card stock is good to use but not sure if that will be too thick in the buttons. Thanks for any tips

I would definately be interested in a custom plexi like what Cracka J mentioned

Thanks David, I’ll try to converse with you through Email, hoping my emails get through to you this time.

Oh absolutely, various etchings are very doable. I just haven’t offered it for a few reasons. 1) I haven’t had a chance to fully test out good settings for various etchings. 2) I’m not entirely sure on the best way to provide that option yet, because sometimes giving people too many options ends up being confusing and can take up a ton of time. This is why custom etchings can cost quite a bit. But I aim to keep costs down so I need to look for a simple, time/cost effective way of providing these options. 3) uh… lack of time for now, lol.

But here’s a couple of examples of what has been done for testing:

More to come. I need the time to set up a new products section to handle the new options and such.

That’s awesome dude. Thanks for doing this. Your pics clearly kills 3 birds in one stone and answers a very common question. Do you mind if I use your pics on my site in the FAQ? Full credit goes to you, of course.

I’ll see what I can do next weekend.

The buttons have a lot more clearing room than you may initially think. With a 1/16" plexi and 100lb cardstock art, I’ve been able to get a secure snap in with my Sanwa’s =).

i know you’ve kinda answered this allready, but how about u drill 3 holes in the top and 3 holes in the bottom, basically like u to for the TE plexi… then when we get it, we can drill our holes in our SE according to the holes you’ve drilled in the plexi…

like we basically put the plexi (with the holes you’ve drill) on top of our SE, then we drill the holes to screw it down!

i will be ordering a TE Full Panel Plexi when they are available…
amazing work Art!!!

dude those etching capabilities look amazing.
I can only imagine the possibilities that’s going to open up once you find the best method of doing it. good luck, shit looks fire.

also I missed my plexi delivery on saturday (at local tournament), but my wife went and picked it up for me today while I was at work. just took it out of the packaging, amazing stuff man. these are going to work so well with what I’m doing, they look great.

also, if anyone is concerned about the packing/packaging, don’t be. these things come in comic book style sleeves, backed to a peice of cardboard, wrapped in bubble wrap, and finally packaged inside the usps box with additional paper packing. my usps box was a bit banged up (even though it said fragile lol) but the contents were 100% perfect. if I ever need custom plexi cut again, I’m definitely using arthong.

I dunno what higher recommendation I can give, except pics of my finished products when I’m done. Currently re-working some of the paint application that didn’t turn out how I wanted and waiting on buttons/balltops, but I’ll be more then happy to contribute some pics once everything is in order.

thanks again for the great work.
