Back story is great. Watching Slade and Deathstroke is awesome. I like the fact that they show what went down on the island. But the pace of his actual training is slow, which is understandable in real life, but doesn’t really draw my attention. Do we want to see flashbacks of him doing push ups, missing all his targets at an archery range, and learning how to do some acrobatic move? No. But that’s the kind of pace the flashbacks are right now,
They’ve shown both Slade and Yao Fei teach Ollie a thing or two. In real life, he’s about where he’s expected to be - he still can’t beat up 1 guard. But it’s slow, boring, and kind of hard to connect the incompetent Ollie that they’re showing to the badass Ollie we see now. He went from a party animal who can’t throw a punch to badass (great fighter, acrobatic, deductive skills, and even knowing how to make high tech trick arrows) in less than 5 years. He should be making pretty good strides even in year one.
I just realized they have half the voice cast of Sleeping Dogs on this show lol

Merlyn wouldn’t ave gotten training in Nanda Pharbat much less even gained admittance. It’s run by a lord of order no one gets in who isn’t supposed to be there and even then Merlyn is scum, pretty sure it was just a name drop.
Should have just said league and tied it to gotham again that would have been a far more interesting name drop kinda like Bertinnelli referencing going back to Italy as her year one type story arc.
Ok the Pacey thing was funny James Van DerBeek climbing into the wrong window in scary movie too. Michelle Williams was where it was at I was all over her more than dead Joker ever was but alas it wasn’t to be. You can’t beat a dead man. I wonder how they’ll do Vertigo now that he has had so much exposure to his drug. Probably just Joker /Harley Quinn type stuff seeing as this show is pretty much emulating Nolanverse Batman with no supernatural slant, Maybe Nightwing will be referenced though, that would be cool what with the Bludhaven reference.

First off, Lyla is a former friend of Diggle’s, seems to have “history” with him.
The Black Dude from Angel (J. August Richards. Charles Gunn in the show of Angel) tends to be good at fight choreography. Had to do it a lot in Angel so it makes sense.
As for Diggle being in the right being pissed…only somewhat. As we saw, the Queen Mansion isn’t exactly as safe as was thought. Had Ollie not done what he did, Mr. Blank (Gunn’s name in this show) would’ve shown up ANYWAY, only this time when he failed hitmen would still be coming after the kid. It was a no-win scenario really, but at the very least there will be more chances at Deadshot AND the fact that Ollie figured that either ARGUS could arrest him and take him off the streets anyway, or Diggle would be capable enough to take him down on his own.
Oh, and J. August Richards is going to be in SHIELD too if I’m not mistaken.
Good old Joss Whedon hooking his actors up. Hope it does well. I liked Firefly and Dollhouse.
Joss is always looking out for his boys and girls. Wouldn’t be surprised to see more Angel alums show up in SHIELD (except for Alexis Denisof…he’s already in the MCU).
