Well it helps that we actually know that Palmer is a good dude.
He just acts a bit creepy at times.
It works, especially with Routh behind the character. He was evil as fuck in Chuck (not only almost succeeding at killing Sarah, but being the first guy Chuck killed, AND executing Chuckâs dad in front of him), and he was a decent Supes. He can do most of the necessary ranges.
Though, I have to call the man out for failing the Arrow fitness test; they had to jump cut away from him performing the salmon ladder.
Yeah, Routh does have surprising range (though I was never a fan of how quickly he went to full blown evil in ChuckâŚbut he certainly killed it as an evil asshole). These types of shows are his calling. Surprised Whedon hasnât given him a call.
i never bout routh as a badguy. something about him sounds too much like a perpetual goodguy. its his voice i guess.
I got behind it. He doesnât have the perfect menace behind it but he doesnât have to.
Now if only his bad guy characters were actually better writtenâŚ
Yeah I always found his restrained performance more chilling than when he was yelling towards the end in Chuck. Itâs kind of why he just kept giving off creep vibes in Arrow. There is just something so off about his demeanor and I feel Routh pulls that off very well. Dudeâs a legit actor.
All this Chuck talk made me sad. I miss that show 
There are many things I miss about Chuck indeed.
Show wasnât given enough credit. Though that ending annoyed me, especially when you consider how feel good the other 4 or so endings for the show were.
Hm, I didnât realize there were alternate endings. Gotta find them. Off to youtube I go.
There werenât persay. Itâs just that Chuck for most of its lifetime did not know when it was going to end or be canceled so about half the midseason and season finales also doubled as series endings in case the show was not renewed.
Dammit, I just wasted 15 minutes of my life.
Yeah, you can see that in some of the season endings where they skip the title sequence, from the get-go theyâve been filmed as if theyâre series finales.
Season 3 is all you need to watch to be convinced about Routhâs capacity for evil.
Dude was Superman at one point, I mean itâs obvious why he was chosen for that role. He just has that goodguy charm to him, that trait makes it even more interesting when he plays a villain character instead.
