Arrested Development Thread

also the greatest group of writers - there are times while watching i get goosebumps it’s so well thought out and executed…

edit - i forgot about lint, he was also one of the major contributers to the original ad thread…

GOB - I’m buying a company boat.
Michael - sorry?
GOB - The Seaward
Michael - You’re not getting a boat
rock, paper, scissors
GOB - Paper covers rock
Michael - But rock sinks boat
Lucille walks in
Lucille - Michael I…
Michael - not now mom I’m right in the middle of something…get rid of the Seaward
Lucille - I’ll leave when I’m good and ready.

LMFAOOOO tear how I miss that fuckin show. Pure genius.

I’ve watched it 4 times, I am on my 5th run thru, shit is still so damn funny, amazing that people couldnt ‘‘get’’ the show

Tobias --“Even if it means taking a chubby for the team, I’ll suck it up”

oh man, just caught this thread. too many memories, makes me sad. especially season 3 with all the fox jokes.

They are cutting our funding on the houses from 24 to 13.
What about the home builders orgranization? Can they help?
Nah, HBO doesn’t want us.
well then i guess its showtime…

George Micheal, why dont you ask maebe to come camping with us? Maybe she can help you pitch a tent?
No, she hates camping.
Oh well, maybe its time you rub off on her.

I need an avatar or GM facial reactions.

George Sr.: I don’t have time for your magic trick.
Gob: Illusions, Dad! You don’t have time for my illusions!

hahahaha

or the kid in the park who found the severed hand

Michael and women!! Achoochoocha!! Achoochoocha! Quequa Quequa!

Have any of you ever even seen a chicken?

I agree. My favorite George-Michael expression was why Maebe said she want to experience “secular flesh” and he was like…:confused:

I was hella pissed when it got cancelled it’s a true testament to the fact that america hates subtle comedy that god forbid makes u think back to previous episodes…meanwhile post mtv vma/vicious circle dane cook’s popularity soars:confused:

Definitely 1 of the most well thought out n funniest shows ever not to mention how many countless memorable moments/quotes there are and the dvds have an almost unrivaled rewatchability factor never gets old.

IMO david cross stole the show he performed his role perfectly and made me laugh 10x more then anyone else LAWL at the blueman group episode that was a personal favorite.

tobias in cut offs: DON’T LOOK AT ME!!!1111 gets into shower with them on:rofl:

EDIT: desi i’m glad u brought back that av if not the very best then at least 1 of the best avatars EVAR:lovin:

Most of my favourite Arrested Development moments are with George Michael.

I think he was Season 1’s MVP, before GOB swept the next two.

Probably my favourite is a bit during Season 2, when he gets dumped by Ann, and he makes this gurgling half-scream-half-cry sound before he crumples down to the ground…such a ridiculously subtle bit, but it was like the funniest damn thing ever.

That’s the whole show right there - maybe the subtlety made it hard for the average television viewer to really get into it. And although the show’s well written enough to be awesome as standalone episodes, I admit it’s hard to jump into it cold knowing that as good as it is, you’re still missing out on some stuff if you didn’t start at the beginning. Like Seinfeld was straight episodic, no link or continuity between episodes - maybe some major plot events (Susan, Kramer’s first name, the NBC pilot, etc.) - but for the most part every episode was entirely self-contained. The continuity and running gags of Arrested Development probably hurt it a bit in the ratings…but it’s a big part of what makes it so good in the first place. Swings both ways.

That episode was insane though - the Charlie Brown one, where everyone gets bummed out and they play the Christmas music? Awesome. Even complete with a Snoopy cameo and everything - truly one of the best writing teams of all time.

And you can’t forget the prison/TBA benefit episode for some quality George Michael. “Because anything can happen when two people share a cell, cuz.” <- That was the happiest moment George Michael would ever experience in his life.

Tobias was also ON FIRE that episode with implied gayness.
“Oh come on, don’t leave your Uncle Teabag hanging.”
“I’m going to star in the video GOB’s making for the gay-la.”
“I’m with Michael - The guy runs a prison, he can have any piece of ass he wants.”

Writing for Tobias must have been awesome - you just try and cram as much homosexual puns as you can into the conversations. And that’s a skill you’ve been honing since grade school.

I gotta watch this show again, it was fucking KILLER.

i think david did alot of his lines himself. he wasn’t even supposed to be a regular character, but he tested so well that they wrote the part for him…

“now THAT’S an act break.” omg, i almost died when he said that…

I just started watching too and I love it. It’s sad that it doesn’t pay to be funny anymore. Same thing happened to Futurama.

No Touuuuuuuuuching!!!

^^^^^

Amazingness. I’m starting my second full run of AD on DVD. On disc 2 of season 1. The Marta Complex is a fucking classic episode:

Narrator: Michael arrives home from following Marta around.
Michael: "I lost her."
and then Marta is right there at the front door looking for Michael. lol

and the episode on season 3 where everyone is trying to teach each other a lesson: some of the best writing and running joke execution I’ve ever seen.

The show is so amazing. I was honestly sad when I finished the DVDs because I knew that it was the end and there was no other season to look forward to. Watching the special features too, watching Will Arnett (GOB) say goodbye when making the last episode made me choke up.
I bought some merch from the official website to give them my support. I got a Bluth Company T-shirt and a Bluth Company glass.

Ohhh, angryliberal you blowhard!

I can’t remember the exact wording but…

Lucille: Michael, you’re going to have to say yes, or you’re going to drive him right to her!!!
George Michael: Hey dad, can you drive me to Maebe’s??
Michael: Yes!
George Michael: Great!
Michael: Hmm…that didn’t work out too great.

“Your cousin Maeby is going to be working with you buddy, and don’t be afraid to ride her… HARD.”

“Away! She blew you AWAY, boy one word can sure make a huge difference.”

George Michael’s facial expressions when Buster tried to open a can of soup with the hook hand… priceless.

One of my favorite moments were when Buster was trying to get GM to buy weed from Gob and when Gob was talking to Michael about it while smoking the weed. It’s pretty hard to put in words but it was fucking hilarious.

I watched this whole damn series back when it first aired and I muched have watched the dvd’s like 8 times each. Ok not that many, but a lot. Burger King is a fantastic restaurant. “It sure is!”.

^_-;

"hey wouldn’t it be weird if we kissed? i bet it would freak out our parents n teach’em a lesson!:lol:

GM hugs her: gm u can let go now:rofl::lol:

The running gag of Michael not being able to remember Anns name or that she is/was George Michaels girlfriend always brought a tear to my eye.

OH MY GOD IT’S THE COPS!!!

…and a construction…worker…

buster teaching everyone a lesson was fucking classic. the whole mrf arc is so fucking brilliant on subsequent viewings. the wee br__ain bus stop takes it as one of the best foreshadows of the whole show…

omg - i got neg repped for my sarcasm on pg 1. i have almost no neg rep in my years here, and i get negged for bashing a show i find to be the greatest sitcom ever put on the air…i mean, the irony is rich. in case you guys don’t know I LOVE AD. i watch my dvd’s over and over again.
