Yeah lightweight tanks are apparently somewhat common and sometimes there are 2-leg heavies, but apprently super heavyweight types just don’t last.
This is all just hearsay though, I haven’t played against a human opponent yet.

What are stabilizers for/what do they do? This is rather new to me since the last AC I played was AC2.
They mainly affect your center of gravity and have no drain or weight which is cool.
Also, they influence your turning ability, speed, and stability. It doesn’t really tell you though–you have to switch back and forth from the stabalizer screen to the assembly screen to see the difference.
Or you could ignore all that I’ve said above and try to get your mech to look like Guyver as much as possible.
Been play’n AC off n on since Ps1. I got AC4 with a hard on for online play, but after a month or so, i stoped playing… Reason being, id spend 2 hours in the shop change’n things on mu ac, 30 minutes try’n to find a match then maybe get a game to play in… The Online match make’n was buggy and annoying as hell… Did they fix it??? If so, i’ll be on this game by Wednesday… But if its still buggy like AC4… not worth the hassle, i’ll just end up being turned off by the matchmaking system again…
ahhh isnt that what the side boosters are for??
The site posted in this thread is closed, anyone know any good sites that teach basics an such? Wanna get into this but I’ve only ever played a little bit of ac 2, didn’t know anything about building.
I was reading on a board that the netcode is still generally bad, but it can still be good, just depends on if you get a good connection or whatever with the right person. Same person said that 2-player co-op is nearly flawless though.
So i ended up buy’n this game lastnight… I gotta say, its better… The controls are smooth and faster But play’n through through story mode seemed damn easy. I beat the first 15 next challenges before i even finished chapter 1 just by use’n arm and back grenade launchers…:wtf: But im sure itll get harder…
I dunno if you guys know about this so i’ll just say it for the ppl who didnt play AC4… There way to quickturn, you’ll turn 180 degrees instantly… So u can keep up with ppl when the try and attack you from behind…
All you do is tap the left analog stick the direction that you wanna turn (left or right) and then let it go back to neutral. Then double tap quickboost. its pretty easy once u get the hang of it, and it come in handy.
you don’t need to tap/double tap anything, you just hold left or right on the right stick and press the quick boost button. Just make sure you’re not holding any direction on the left stick.
Word
How are the controls? I was very disappointed with the controls in AC4, and stopped playing after day 1, and I’ve been a big fan of AC since AC1.
Ok so i got this game last night, badass game indeed. I stopped at the spirit of mother will last night. Already S ranked the missions before where I stopped. I’m trying to tune my AC but I don’t know how to get those FRC points or whatever you call them. Does anybody know how to get those points? Do I have to keep S ranking missions?
What exactly disappointed you? You know you can completely customize the controls right? Personally I think control option B with invert Y-axis is the best control the game has ever offered.
Exactly. Also reaching certain points in arena as well. Once you S rank everything you should have 400 points.
^^Thx alot, I’ll keep on S ranking then. I love the Mech Im using now. Has a blade, spread bazooka, back rail gun and some back missles. As you can see It’s mainly for close range but its real good practice for me before I start going online. Forces me to quickboost and dodge alot more. Just played the game yesterday and I can already dodge missles like crazy fuck flairs. Ahh im loving this game.
IIRC parallel processing has no effect if you are firing two of the same weapon, or two weapons with the same firing range. If you have two weapons with different ranges, your FCS will tend towards the average between the ranges; better parallel processing will make it tend towards the longer range.
You shouldn’t be mixing drastically different ranges anyhow, though, but better parallel processing helps if you’re using longer-ranged back weapons than your arm weapons (usually missiles of some sort on a rifle/MG build, or railcannons/sniper cannons on a sniper build).
Heavy tank builds can work out okay if you’re pretty good at QB dodging stuff. Missiles will likely be a pain until you get that down, since you aren’t going to be outrunning them like some other builds. You pretty much need to have good timing to catch people with railcannons/sniper cannons with a tank build, since there’s not much reason to use another weapon type on those legs.
There are no extra ammo units in this game that I am aware of. Low ammo weapons are trash anyhow, they’re pretty much only useful for specific story missions (ex. Kojima arms in Attack on Arteria Carpals); otherwise good luck hitting any human being (or even CPU NEXT) with some weapons. This game mostly favors high velocity weapons (railguns/snipers, some missiles), accurate midrange weapons (063ANAR, pretty much… also some missiles), or high ammo count spray weapons (MG arms, dual Motorcobras, back 4-shot chaingun or gatling gun). There are specific weapons that are more viable than not, though.
I love grenades but they unfortunately combine low ammo count with low projectile velocity.
For anybody having trouble with the story campaign, the machine gun arms + back chain/gatling combo pretty much owns everything except a few Arms Forts (but you generally use blades on Arms Forts for fast kills), and it’s more efficient to use different weapons on a few NEXT battles (aforementioned Attack on Arteria Carpals; railguns/snipers/Assault Armor in Defend/Attack on Arteria Cranium).
Or if you’re having a lot of trouble, go to regulation 1.00 and use the Saline spread missiles and watch enemy NEXTs melt.
But yeah. Mixing and matching ranges with your arms or your back is just going to make things harder on you. Having different ranges on your arms AND your back works out, but having like blade + gun just makes things harder on you when everything is moving at 2000 km/h and your FCS is telling you you have a lock with something for a split second but it wasn’t the weapon you were trying to hit with.
Then again if people are moving at 2000 km/h online, they’re teleporting anyways so it’s not like you’re going to hit them anyhow. lol netcode
But yeah, fast light/mid dual rifle/MG + missiles is a popular build, as are quad/tank sniper models (with snipers/rails). Bladers are pretty brutal with the new auto-homing and massive speed boost during blade attacks, especially online when you’re a teleporting ninja, but they have issues getting in and actually getting the initial white lock to get the auto-track, then actually hitting someone before they QB away. Definitely not a good idea to mix a gun with a blade if you intend to ever hit someone with a blade.
I realized this fighting cube and stasis. Makes me sad, I always liked the grenades
lol Cube and Stasis fight can either be incredibly easy (if you manage to only shoot Cube) or incredibly difficult (if you hit Stasis early on)… or braindead easy- I kept losing then randomly S ranked it because Stasis randomly just died in the first 5 seconds somehow, and Cube might boost like a madman but the CPU can only avoid machine gun arms for so long.
Also I wish radars were more useful but they are pretty much a waste of space since you can’t hit any NEXT beyond your normal lock-on range anyhow, except with maybe a railgun but you’d have a better FCS for that anyhow. Radar helps for a few missions (destroy the 8th fleet) I guess.
I just saw the vids on the first page, holy shit that I so fast. I want to pick this up.
Cube fight was lol at first. Had to use a rail cannon to hit him… but it was four minutes before I actually killed him by hitting him four times. @_@
Anyways, how do you use those relation missiles shoulder weapons? I press the shoulder weapon button and they open up… but then what? I’m confused.
Cube takes about 2-3 minutes to kill with constant machine gun hits lolz, rail gun sounds like work since he boosts so much D:
Relation missiles only fire when you shoot other missiles.
lolz That rail gun is the only thing I had at the moment. Four shots was enough though.
Thanks for the reply about the missiles.
After playing for a few days, I’d have to say my only gripe about the game is how ineffective radar is, mostly due to the fact that the icons are so fucking small you can barely even seen them. @_@
