Lol @ “ditto” matches. It always catches me by surprise when I see so many Smash players moving on to Marvel. And with the exception of Kyne and Sean, the playstyles of Smash players in Marvel are very similar.
You started Vergil against me a couple of times. Ordinarily this is a good strategy since he is the only character on your team (and one of the few in the game, really) who can hang with Zero. It’s an all-in strat though because the rest of your team composition was not suited to dealing with a strong anchor, barring mistakes made by me (which definitely happened against XF Hulk). When it works you’re golden but yeah, best to keep Vergil in the wings as a contingency plan. It’s really just setting your team up to deal with the different types of teams in our scene: Point-Point-Assist (Spiteful, Jeo, maybe you), Point-Assist-Anchor (Myself, Angelic, Brainpipe), and Point-Point-Anchor (Reece, Haz, Cory). There is definitely some blending across the archetypes but everyone will fall into a category eventually.
Also, this long post is in hopes the people get over their game arguments and their arguments about their game arguments. Ugh.
Uh, I enjoyed watching kof and sc5. I clearly stated that. I made my 3 hour comment based of angelics statement, as a defense, based off all the silly sfxt hate. While it sucked that we ran 3 hours behind, i enjoyed watching both games. I don’t care for sc5, and I like kof13, I’ve always liked it, and skull girls, and other games. I am not a Capcom only player, its just my bread and butter. Don’t get it twisted
And kof finals were just as long as sfxt. No biggie imo. I don’t care about that
Lol, I thought dittos was just a common term for mirror matches, but yeah I had to switch to vergil since Frank can’t do SHIT to zero unless at level 4 and Hulk is just one giant hit box waiting to get instant over headed by Zero. In the long run it kind of worked better because Frank has that nice shopping car assist to add pressure and hulk’s gamma wave assist has a nice OTG that combos into round harvest. I really need to learn extended combos with Vergil though, I only do one loop and then go into maximum Vergil.
And I clearly made that post BEFORE you said that(unless you said in another page of the thread, in which case I am an idiot), but my point still stands that from what I’ve seen you post on the forums while lurking, you don’t seem to like any other games, at all and are always up for shitting on other games and complaining when your games get shit on. You can keep doing your thing man, but you’re not helping yourself at all when you say one thing then do another.
I had to put up with that after streaking for four hours at Armando’s when the game first came out. People are gonna go out of their way to shit on your game but it doesn’t mean you need to go out of your way to defend it. It really is just you getting trolled in the end, haha.
I really enjoy the good parts about the game and I don’t have a huge problem with most of it, minus the late implementation of the Pandora gems. It’s fun but as a whole the AZ scene has not taken to it. It didn’t bring any new people in and it just made everyone else super bitchy. That + the tournament logistics standpoint of it makes me doubt the game’s lasting appeal. It’s sad but not worth starting shit over. The people hating on the game the loudest should be the last people you try to pitch the game to.
For some reason I assumed rick told you about his tournament victory and his long fight. Without knowing I can see how it could be misinterpreted so let’s just move on folks.
Sent from my ARX-7 ARBALEST using a motherfucking spacestation.
I think Scott (and I share this sentiment as well) are just jaded at the pure vitriol that this game receives for simply existing. Not since Smash have I seen so much hate for a game and have not seen so many people go out of their way to voice their displeasure of the game when unprovoked. I respect all games and don’t post garbage when guys talk about Marvel and I don’t join the stream chat during KOF or SCV just to talk crap (and I was watching some of the finals for both games; not a lot, but neither game is for me but once again I respect them.) If you guys want SFxT to die, then stop talking about it, don’t enter it, don’t watch it and don’t support it and it will go away naturally. For now I will keep playing a game that I personally enjoy playing. I’m done defending the game to people who have no intention of playing it.
Armando, nah man. I didn’t even know he was there, til after it was over and he had already. Like I said, my bad dude.
When do I shit on other games? And when do I go out of my way to shit on them? There’s a difference between not liking a game and stating why you don’t like it(which is fine, i respect that), vs just going out of your way to let someone know how much they hate the game you enjoy, how its stupid, etc etc etc throwing it at you nonstop. You know? I don’t see where I hate on non Capcom stuff. Vf4 is my favorite fighting game, next to alpha3, and no one plays that shit. And TTT ranks up there as one of my favorites, as well as ggxx. Hell, I even love umk3, KI and sc1. I played all these competitively.
I enjoy games I like. I’m not limited to Capcom. If I’ve somehow come off as me shitting on every non Capcom game recently, then my bad. But I don’t remember the last time I said I don’t like whatever game. Sc5 is the only game that’s come out in recent memory that im not a fan of. I spoke my personal impression on it when it was new, and I moved on.
Hell I even came to haz’s 3 hours early to watch kof13 and sc5. Why? Cuz I am a fan of fighting games, and I like to watch and digest what I see.
Jon. You are wise and correct. I know I get trolled, but at the same time, I don’t like to sit idle. Especially in person.
Guys, I would totally enjoy it if somebody would bring a Smash setup for casuals, just saying. I used to play that shit with my friends ALL the time and when I entered the Devastation tournament I did fairly decent (though my playstyle compared to the metagame was wonky as fuck).
@Scott:
I don’t mind watching SFxT from time to time, but for the most part, it is just not for me. So I’ll leave it at that. I certainly am not one to begrudge anyone for liking any games. That goes for Smash, SCV, KOF, or Skullgirls. People like what they like. I can agree on having a hard time relating to people who can’t just move on once they realize they don’t like something.
Plus, I really am not able to play multiple games competitively at the same time. And Marvel’s engine is so variable and interesting to me that it just takes up all the time I have for fighting games nowadays. Granted, I’ve played so much AE I could probably play Dudley in my sleep, so I still play it from time to time, I just don’t practice it constantly anymore.
Dana. Hey dude. That’s absolutely cool. I don’t mind that people don’t like it. I understand its not everyone’s cup of tea. The difference is tho is that I don’t have you constantly badger us sfxt players about how it sucks.
Like I said, Saturday, it was just ridiculous, so many people had to come over to the casual stations to spout off over and over. It made me almost wanna punch someone. Like the way you went off at Jose that one uat tourney haha. He just kept badgering you over and over well after you loss. Pretty much the same thing here.
When I’m in the SFxT forum, or read a SFxT front page post and read mindless sheep posts “SFxT sucks; play XXXXXXXX”, I want to reach out through my monitor/tiny smartphone screen and strangulate the poster. I mean YOU’RE IN THE FORUM FOR SAID GAME THAT YOU HATE. Really, you have to go out of your way to show how much you hate something? Really?
Wanted to swing by and say thank you to Haz for hosing SC5, it was a great tournament and surprising turnout, looking forward to doing it all over again in a couple of weeks…holy geez my face was not meant for streams xD
You were hella in defensive attack mode. Haha. Rick asked me if I was entering xT and I said no. Then got attacked. Hhaha. Which started some Jeo debate. Haaha.
