Jeo, I don’t think that’s a good analogy for your argument. The matador made a conscious choice to put himself in the ring and piss off the bull, and you don’t see the matador complaining that “the bull should have been more welcoming” after he gets his ass gored.

I’m grateful for the work that was done on the guide and was relatively detached from the drama (By the way, this totally follows my flowchart!) and so I don’t have a problem with Bryan either, but I don’t like the broad strokes with asterisks being applied to the Capcom scene. The fact is, the Dev people have beef, the Tucson guys have beef, the older guys have beef. We could sit around arguing back and forth on why 8wayrun or whatever should like us and support us, but that doesn’t get anywhere.

The rest of the scene, which largely consists of the newer players, shouldn’t have to inherit this bullshit. So when you guys come in here and stir up drama over past personal disagreements because a tournament wanted to include some extra games, that’s all kinds of fucked up. What the hell does the SSFIV guide have to do with a tournament in Laveen?

At the end of the day, the issue is that some folks in the SC and MK scenes are rubbed the wrong way by certain players in our scene and vice versa. To the large majority, however, this shouldn’t fucking matter and we should all enjoy the opportunity to have a giant tournament together this Saturday. You wanna talk about being welcoming and accommodating, you have Munchi over on 8wayrun playing SRK ambassador:

That’s the kind of shit that should be happening here, not listening to some old problems from 3 years ago.

I’m not sure that I see what the fuss is about, Scott. Now granted I didn’t read any of what was going on, but it sounds like the same song and dance of 2008-11. Bryan’s post likely was how he perceives the communities behavior and the difference in the 3D communities. It’s his opinion/perception, and he is most entitled and allowed to voice it. If nothing else, at least he does so in well formed sentences. I don’t think he’s trolling at all by doing that. It’s very clear that his perception is nowhere near yours, and that’s ok–or should be rather, but for some reason its not. Which kinda circles back to the issue most of us have been speaking about over the years about the FGC here. It’s generally not ok to have an alternative opinion. You’re cool until you decide to think or feel for yourself then the guns get drawn.

Now I’m expressing my opinion and for those who read this who don’t know me, just know that I’m not terribly invested with the musings of FGC here anymore. With that being said I’ve always felt that the community here isn’t very inviting. Most of you have either heard me say that or had to sit through a long dinner discussion about it. Remember when SF4 came out and Groton was doing ranbats and there was like a trillion people? Where did they all go? Did they just decide, “oh I don’t like this game?” maybe? but I’m sure its probably also from lack of feeling welcome, and that has very little to do with Arnul or me shit talking. It’s not really that fun being a part of a community that’s pretty one dimensional… and that dimension is skill. Almost everything here is based on skill. Like, I know wholeheartedly if I didn’t kinda know how to play 3s when I moved here and was able to prove to it you (Scott) at castles n coasters it would have been an uphill battle to even get to be cool with you. And heaven forbid you don’t like someone, y’all shit on them at every opportunity (yes I’m talking about Juicebox)… there’s plenty of other examples but honestly, they’re not necessary because thats how things are here, and they aren’t going to change, but to be defensive everytime someone points it out is like pretending your retarded dog… isn’t retarded.

Scott, I have the utmost respect for you (yes, homo) and I know you know how to take what I’m saying but like I think in your case you’ve seen this shit happen so much that you’re just numb to it. It seems to me that just don’t really care that much, but its weird like, you want to care because this is like your baby and you’ve invested A LOT, but then when you start to get into how much more work you gotta put in to care now its just like “fuck it its not worth it” so I think you turn a blind eye to some of the shit. Honestly, bro. I don’t blame you for it either, but if thats the case just be honest about it and let Bryan just have his rant moment and 2-3pages later no one will even remember people will not care in half the time…

Heya Jon, to clarify… there is no DEV beef. DEV is an event and cannot hate on anyone :wink:

That is not to say that someone(s) does not have beef with the event or person(s) involved with it. There is a list of people who are justifiably upset with the event that we are still working on correcting but that is not what we are talking about here.

This infighting (pun) is just a waste of time… except for Arnold and Raff who live for this.

Play video games. Hang out. Have a good time.

I am a fan of as many people doing things for the community as possible… they can all coexist and there is no reason to bash on one group or another.

My point scott, was to defend bryan, because all people seem to do is bash on him like hes some red headed step-child, and act like he doesn’t know what the hell he’s talking about. yes, he can be a bit nit-picky and difficult, but i’ll be damned if he doesn’t make good points sometimes, like it or not.

the fact that some people in here messed with his JOB, again, his JOB, im not at all surprised hes a bit jaded to the capcom scene. and to say only a select few had the opportunity is utter BS, i recall us bringing 4 SSF4 xbox consoles to dorions for EVERYBODY who showed up to play, as well as bryan leaving a unit there so others had a chance to play. while yes, only a select few got to have input on the guide itself, the whole community benefited from it. and we all know how he was re-payed for that.

I feel like, hes not allowed to have an opinion without being attacked. granted, sometimes his approach may be a tad off kilter, that doesn’t make it wrong, or warrant an immediate attack.

there are plenty of people in our community, who on different levels do alot for the scene, and as was said, there is room for everybody. at the end of the day, were just playing video games, and all that should matter is that we have fun. period. when video games stops being about having fun, you need to find a new hobby. the point of my post has nothing to do with the SCV or KOF times and or dates, Ive learned over the years, you cant please everybody, sometimes you just set a time and date and those who can come will, and those who don’t can catch another one
I don’t expect everybody that doesn’t know the man to like him, and i know he’s not losing sleep over it, but whether he plays “capcom” games or not, hes done plenty to warrant having a voice in this community, and certainly knows what he’s talking about, and is entitled to his own opinion.

as far as the scene goes, i think its welcoming myself. i have never felt unwelcome anywhere, over the years, and i have yet to hear somebody ask for advice, and be ignored or told to go piss off. that said, i think our ONLINE community is a whole different ballgame, they are night and day, but its the internet, so people should see past that.

and my point scott, of me talking about how he says the same thing in person, is i know some people seem to think this is just his online persona, and i was merely stating that’s how bryan is…always. he’s almost always arguing with somebody, but that’s who he is, and i think if you understand how bryan is, that maybe people wouldn’t get so surprised and or offended by his posts.

the sad fact is, it should be about the FGC as a whole, not the capcom FGC, and the KOF FGC or the SCV FGC…we are all in the same boat, as many players including myself cross over to many other fighting games, there should be ONE FGC that all work together, not segregate the communities into peoples preferences. we are all one in the same, were fighting gamers and we need to stick together.

I’m new to this scene, and reading these SRK threads makes me think exactly, “Holy shit, what did I get myself into?” I’ve made a few friends here, and now they’re fighting and flinging shit at each other from across the city. One time I went to Haz’s for some fun casuals and some nigga got scratched.
I reiterate:

Regardless. There are cool people. Muji, Haz, Arnul (in his special way[all of the homo]), Jeo, etc., who have helped me feel welcome here.
But seriously, holy fucking shit guys, I’m so glad I never read through these threads before my first trip to Haz’s. Shit scares me.

Anyways. Sfxt is now officially unplayable online except with people you know. 1/6th stock autoblock gem is the most broken thing I have ever seen. Full meter = 18 autoblocks. Unwinnable against that. Lost 5 games in a row to it. All time outs too.

Off topic, gave Skullgirls the benefit of the doubt but the game is just not for me. In fact I’ve determined that if a game has assists in it, it is an immediate no-play for me. I wish I could transfer the license to another gamertag so someone who would enjoy the game could have it, but then again I’m assuming everyone who wanted SG already has it. Luckily it was “free” for me.

Off off topic, I better see some of you guys on May 15 for some Diablo III action! I just can’t decide on Monk or DH…

Completely calling this out. I was refraining from joining in on this stuff simply because it didn’t really concern me (all of the drama back and forth that is) but this is complete bullshit, and I will call it out right now. Never in my entire time at any house or venue have I intentionally kicked somebody off while they were getting advice, asking questions or legitimately trying to learn something. This is utterly false.

I have always strived to help the scene as best as I can, via hosting sessions, lending my stick/equipment, picking up people from hella far away, or teaching things that I know that could help someone out game-related or otherwise. I will continue to help as many people as I can as long as I can and refuse to further acknowledge such a rumor. If the person in question truly feels that I wronged him in some way to this extent then I will gladly talk to them in a calm and appropriate manner but as far as I am concerned this definitely did NOT happen.

I clearly have some personality conflicts with a rare few people but I have always put my best foot forward to be as friendly and helpful to as many people as I can.

I didn’t come into the AZ SRK scene with a chip on my shoulder. I was friends with a bunch of the old timers when I first came onto the scene. I used to beat up Scott, Dan and even CigarBob on Killer Instinct (XBand) 20 years ago. I remember my first “major” at Raff’s place with Tekken Tag Tournament and seeing the wooden version of those sticks, meeting QDogg from Cali for the first time. Although I also remember everyone giving Scott shit because he almost lost to my scrubby Ganryu/Baek team.

Fast-forward to SF4 and I come back here talking about SC4. I basically was told to STFU and leave. It’s just been more of the same since that point, and now I post anything, no matter how right/correct I am, and people still want to act like I don’t know what I’m talking about. This isn’t something that just happened. Some of you have been ignorant for years now.

This is what I was told by someone who does not post on SRK and can rarely be found at AZ Capcom events. I have no reason to lie about it.

Maybe you didn’t understand what was going on, but the person who told this to me has no reason to lie about it. You people are quick to forget when you wrong someone, so it doesn’t surprise me that you claim it’s false.

I’ve stated many, many times that it’s only a few select, vocal people.

I was asked a question. I simply responded to it.

And what have I said that isn’t true? You’re the one who keeps contradicting yourself.

TL;DR - I don’t lie… and many of you guys have been assholes for awhile now, but you used to be cool… back in the 90s.
