I hope DLC changes it, somehow…
Did they ever treat CvS2 like this?

I think time runs out if…
-you turtle
-don’t know what to do
-are scared (lol, its a game)

  • Opponent can’t combo
  • Run Away/doing it on purpose

hey, is there any meter building tricks like Mvc2/3s?

Then your most likely going to lose. People are going to have to take in to account teaming up with someone who plays well, or possible teaming up with someone who isnt as good of a player, but will make it to every ranbat. This format wont appeal to everyone. Some people enjoy the 2v2 aspect of the game, others dont. if you don’t enjoy it, then don’t play. simple as that

O…kay? I wasn’t saying that I liked or disliked it (I’ve never played 2v2 so I honestly have no idea what my opinion is on it), I was just bringing up a potential complication for discussion and thoughts from the group, and whether anybody thinks it’s worth worrying about or not. No need to jump to “STFU and don’t play it if you hate it so much,” I wasn’t complaining in the slightest.

I think my ironic post kinda flew over your head. I was taking a jab at teams only format at evo, and probably other events now

i wasn’t attacking you. I was making a general statement. The ranbats aren’t going to change because the format for evo is 2v2. So if ppl want to complain they certainly are entitled to that. But from the way it looks theres no changing it. So people who don’t like the 2v2 format, the only thing they can do to really make a change is not play the format.

OK, no worries, hard to tell over the internet sometimes.

I know, I think its stupid, and should be a fun side thing. the game is nearly dead for me :frowning:
BUT…did they ever treat CvS2 like that?

Keres, I feel for you guys in Tucson since I know that besides a few people, consistent attendance to Phoenix Ranbats is gonna be hard to work around for teams. My impression from what I’ve heard is that you have about as many players for SFxT as you do for Marvel, so that might make it even worse. I think this next season is largely going to be a test for how dedicated the player base will be for this game, since I know in Phoenix the popularity for the game was already waning before this team tourney announcement. We’re coming close to that threshold where the casuals drop the game entirely, and so far we haven’t brought any new people in and the more consistent players are going back to their fortes. If this Ranbat season results in low turnouts, I recommend just running singles for the next season regardless of Evo in an effort to keep the game alive.

I imagine the doubles turnout at Evo is going to be large regardless, but it doesn’t make a difference to us in AZ if nobody’s gonna play it otherwise. It might even be a good idea to give the competitors here an option to play singles vs a team, because although at first glance it doesn’t seem fair to the team, they get access to the powerful cross assault mechanic which may very well balance it out. Some of us are going to go to Evo and some of us aren’t, and if our turnout numbers are going to be hurting we shouldn’t be excluding people.

Also, for the record, most of Fernando’s posts go over my head too. Sorry man, I just flat out don’t understand what you’re talking about half the time due to like no context or bad grammar.

yeah, I don’t put much dedication into posts.

if I’m not asking a question on here then perception of my view points go out the window along with any conversation that would follow :D.
If it isn’t work or school related I don’t put much effort expect the agonizing task of lifting each figure. Gotta save muh Strength/Mind for gaming.

Since I’m here, I was wondering if they ever ran team CvS2 tournaments.
-Like how SfxT is running them.

I better start playing on my arcade stick and put the ps controller down for a bit so I can make the next round of sessions!

Forget about them 2v2 what about them characters on disc? I swear man evo gets dumber every year! Even when I play support I end up feeding and wasting wards. woot woot!

Well back then, CvS2 was the only SF-like game around (3S and A3 were around, but people just didn’t play it as much), so it was treated with “respect” and as a headliner game. I’m sure if it was released today, the stream/forum monsters would have crucified it. And forget CvS2, CvS1 NEVER would have gotten any play if it were up to that vocal minority. Now, the game did have it’s problems, but I shudder to imagine the theads and complaining about it:

“4 Buttons??? What is this trash???”
“If I want to pick Sagat, I have to forfeit 2 spots on my team???”
“4 lvl 1’s vs 4 lvl 1’s takes toooooo loooong; limit them to only 2 per team”
“Nako is too OP!!!” (she was pretty OP, actually…)

CvS2 never had team tournaments like SFxT probably because the game just isn’t setup that way like SFxT is. If anyone did to a team tourney where players switched off individual characters, it was only side tourney-for-fun.

And I know this is of little consolation, but anyone going to EVO knows that a side tourney for 1v1 SFxT has got to happen; yeah it won’t be EVO-run so it won’t be taken seriously, but it will be something, and I bet it will get a huge amount of interest/entries anyways.

ive seen team CVS2 tournies where each char on the team is represented by a different person. however, to me it isnt the same as sfxt team where there is so much synergy involved, and any one person on the team can lose it rather than cvs2 where the anchor is the only person who can actually make you lose.

I think 2v2 is fun as hell, but I see alot of potential issues if people arent training with the same partner consistently.

Check this out: NCR SFxT Grand Finals vs EVO CvS2 Grand Finals: http://youtubedoubler.com/3AtD

Some notes: 3 games of SFxT went by faster than 3 games of CvS2 by about a 1min 40sec, but CvS2 went down to the last character in a 3v3 team each game, while SFxT ended with Infiltration not losing a round. So at worst, SFxT could take as long as CvS2, and CvS2 was a featured game for years.

This whole 2v2 thing could really have nothing to do with time at all. Maybe Evo and capcom are working together, and capcom told evo to run it as a 2v2 because thats how they want the game to be played.

no its for time constraints. its cvs2 allover again. cvs2 was usually reduced to 1 game, double elim… not the same, but gimped nonetheless

^ thats weird tho, because kof13 takes alot of time as well. But there won’t be as many ppl playing that i guess

^^ they wanted to make the right decision and this is their decision. EVO does nothing based on capcom lol. They’re trying to create some type of hype for the game so they figure 2v2 would be better. It also cuts down time.

just a thought

Before SFxT came out, Capcom announced they were putting $500K into various tournaments this year with some sort of grand finals in December. Maybe EVO is trying not to conflict with some sort of Capcom event around the same time as EVO?
