It IS a race argument because it’s absolutely impossible for a non-wealthy filipino to get a tourist visa, whereas it is a piece of cake for any white British person. And emmigrating legally? Absolutely impossible for a filipino without serious juice.
Why would a poor person be wasting money on a tourist visa?
I’m not sure I understand your question.
For example for a single unmarried filipino to even get a tourist visa, they have to leave tens of thousands of dollars in assets home, and have family members staying in the philippines to even get past the first visa interview. No white western european has to prove anywhere near the assets a filipino does, or probably most countries with brown people in them. Being unmarried doesn’t count against your visa approval from Euro countries, either.
Also, There is a ten year+ long waiting system to even enter a LOTTERY system to get here, that is as good as saying “no brown ppl here, plz.”
edit: BTW my GF is a college graduate from one of the top schools in her country. I finally figured out how to do it, but it’s going to be needlessly expensive, long, and stupid to get her here. Someone without an American already helping them emmigrate is utterly fucked from a country where their race isn’t the right one.
could it be that there’s a MUCH GREATER demand amongst filipinos and ‘brown’ people as you say, than europeans? thus we have to set their standards that much higher
i certainly see a lot more filipinos, mexicans, and africans moving here than europeans. in fact, i’ve met precisely one - a belgian
that 10 year wait is probably because their country is PACKED full of people trying to move here. they’re fighting with millions of others, whereas a european probably has relatively few competitors from his nation.
also, your post makes careful mention of ‘white’ europeans, are you seriously saying a black european would have a lot of trouble moving over here? i doubt it
lol, at people thinking the US is the most racist country.
How about this? Would everyone collectively in this thread mind if Airthrow’s girlfriend immigrated to the USA, legal or illegal, knowing that she is a college graduate from one of the top schools of her country, (the?) Phillipines? Here is my vote - I say come on over and stay awhile. Let us see who would have a take, whatever it may be. Don’t be shy.
i look at it as one of the most important issues your country has to deal with. On one hand, your country was founded on immigrants, and how can you tell somebody ‘sorry you’re not good enough for this country’
yet on the other hand, the problems caused by illegal immigrants and the issues they bring up (or avoid, such as certain taxes), is something that has to be dealt with (as shitty as it sounds to mexicans, I kinda have to backup the notion that they shouldnt REALLY be there in the first place, without doing it properly)
Here is how I see it. I dont care if your black, white, brown, purple, poor, rich, educated, whatever. If you want to live here, get in line. Do it the legal way, and I will embrace you with open arms. I love my country and I think of it as a privilege to be an American.
Good take! Let’s keep it going people. I figure if we can address the issue for one individual, then we are making progress.
So this gives validity to them breaking our laws? Like other people have stated the U.S. is more than casual and cordial compared to the same on immigration compared to the same countries who have immigrants come to the United States.
This argument is stupid. Well no shit this country was founded by immigrants but which country was not and name me one country which was not and has free open borders.
LOL so someone is supposed wait while starving for a decade to hope our racist ass immigration system randomly decides to let them in VIA LOTTERY and they’re a “real American” but the people who cross 10 countries risking rape and murder aren’t “real Americans” right?
BTW, my mom’s ex husband’s new wife (who is from England) technically broke the law to get here. She came over on a tourist visa knowing she was going to get married, and then apply for citizenship to stay here. So it’s funny how up in arms people get over George the drywall guy being here when there are plenty of illegal immigrants around, you just wouldn’t know what they look like.
My brother-in-law just brought over his Filipino girlfriend, and then married her when she got here. I don’t know all the specifics, but I believe it took around 6 months and around $1500 to do it. I’m pretty sure he did not spend much more than that, cause he was broke as hell, and begging family for the money. Some of her family already lives here, so I’m sure he had their help with the knowledge of how to get someone in.
You don’t have to be brown to get kicked out either. Immigration is trying to kick out my British co-worker. He is fighting it, but it is costing him:(
Being someone living in Arizona, (and a Hispanic one at that), I would like to say that it’s nice that Arizona is famous for something other than being hot for once xD
Thank you Brandowned all those excuse people make about being educated or upstanding citizens of my previous country are just double standards. Why break the law in our country when you wouldn’t have in your own. Also if Airthrow girlfriend is illegal then hopefully he sorts out his situation before it is too late ,because honestly she should get deported that is the LAW . This isn’t about having rights because you give those up the minute you come to this country illegally .
Hahaha no shit right? Such a beautiful state and people only seem to know that it’s hot there.
How’d you get here?
Yeah we better see some fucking ID, you never know.
whats wrong with racial quotas? This is still the USA, not phillippines II, or mexico II. When people come over here they’re hear to become american citizens. But thats the thing, the USA has to remain the USA.
What right do these illegals have to just cross the border because life is tough for them? What right do they have to spit in the face of everyeone else in this country? The people that came before them, and those after them?
If they can’t afford to come to the USA legally, then guess what… they can’t come here.
You don’t go into a Best Buy and take TVs without paying since you don’t have the money. Cry that lifes been hard to you and you feel that you deserve said TV. So why would you essentially do the same thing with immigration?
Cosign ShinjiGohan. All that jazz about your life being hard in your previous country is hypocritical when you come here and mess up things for actual American Citizens and make their lives hard.
