Its literally a guessing game though… unless you do option selects… but most people can’t do them (properly)…
And I crouch tech and it never seems to work against scrubs, but in endless battles against regular people its fine… then SUDDENLY, scrub. Throw tech stops working (y)
Lol my bad. Guess I didn’t really read your post. But some others have been complaining about losing to scrubs online.
That means you’re crouch teching at the wrong times… Crouch teching isn’t a fail proof defensive technique, especially if you’re just mashing it and don’t know why, and aren’t familiar with your opponents’ options for dealing with.
Anyways my point is that you won’t get anywhere by blaming a “scrub” for “spamming” or “mashing” or whatever. If you lose, it’s because you did something wrong (or more likely you did a lot of things wrong.) And that’s ok, as long as instead of blaming the other player you try to figure out why you lost and what you should have done to win.
Playing online isn’t like playing offline
Haven’t you ever played a shoryuken happy Ken online and lost?
I thought it was an experience everyone shares even when they get REALLY, REALLY good… like once in a blue moon…
Hey, you are/were a Sakura player right?
What can I do to stop the 30% guessing game with Sagat/Ken…
They’ll either throw, dp or hit jab/short (which always seem to beat mine) into hit confirm or randomly stop and throw -_-
Worst thing that pees me off to the bone… I play very cautious when they get ultra not to get random ultra’d and its like they read my mind and lure me into a false sense of security that they won’t do it on wake up or randomly then after a while BAM they’ll do jab jab wait a second and when I go to grab/combo they’ll ultra…
Any idea what I can do to stop this? And how am I supposed to time the crouch teching?
Help would be appreciated please!
I dont lose to “spamming” shotos (well depends on the online connection, sometimes kens lp dp is literally safe on block), I just always lose to guessing, I’ll get beat on wakeup or in kens ex tatsu online mixup all the time. or do well and eat a lvl 1 focus counterhit crumple ultra for 50% life.
and hey, this thread is made for whining…
Against Ken’s ex tatsu, here’s what I do: Crouch guard, react to throw. At worst you’ll get hit by an overhead, if he fadc his dp then just os throw when he’ll start pressuring you to avoid being kara thrown.
Your questions are too broad man… When you should ceich tech, how to not get hit by dps and ultras, it all depends on how your opponent is playing. You need to know when there are gaps in their pressure, how large these gaps are, what of their options will beat your options, etc etc etc.
Crouch teching sort of defines street fighter 4 offense. It’s a meta game all it’s own. The general flowchart progression of offense/defense tends to be this: start out using tight frame traps to catch early techers. If they block your pressure, try to throw next time to see if they’re crouch teching at all. See that they teched your throw, go for another frame trap to try to catch their tech. Keep widening the gaps in your pressure because they’re probably not getting hit by anything because they’re late teching like everyone usually does.
So on offense you’re trying to figure out how your opponent is teching so you can get throws / counter hit combos.
On defense, you’re trying to not get thrown while avoiding getting counter hit. There’s no right time to tech; when you tech should be based on how your opponent is playing offense and what you think he’s going to do.
If you ever get caught with jab jab, wait, ultra or dp, it’s probably because you were too predictable in when you were crouch teching. If I see that EVERY time you block my jab that you crouch tech at the exact same time, of course i’m going to hit you hard for that. If your consistency makes me really really positive about that you will press those two buttons, i might even do something risky like throw out my ultra.
So I have to find out what kind of pressure my opponent is putting on?
What if he doesn’t know himself and is just doing random crap?
Do you have any videos of you playing (with inputs) so I can check out how you handle such problems?
There’s no way you can be completely random even if you try to, some patterns will come over and over if your opponent isn’t smart, once you notices them you pretty much won the game. You also need to make guesses once in a while.
Well any videos of you using such tactics? o.o
A lot of people are explaining to me what to do but no one’s posting videos to back up their knowledge…
Do I really need to back it up? And not everybody can post videos of themselves playing on YT, so don’t ask everybody that answered you to do it. You could try it out yourself and see if our advices were worth listening to, or just come up with something by yourself. And my youtube channel isn’t focused on SSFIV AE so I’d rather not post more than one video of this game once in a while.
Nope don’t NEED to but would be more easy to understand if you actually showed me.
I’m not asking everybody, I’m asking you and Deebs because Deebs seems pretty popular so he must be a highly accomplished tournament player and you have a Youtube channel.
I would try it if I could understand properly… like you’re both saying find a pattern on your opponent and no one can be random… well you haven’t really seen the people I’ve faced… or if you have I’d like to see how you dealt with them. Simple.
Focused or not, it isn’t hard to go through your replays and record 1 video
You can even make it private if you needed…
There’s a lot of people that can talk the talk.
Edit: Actually Boodendorf, I just checked your latest SF video (3 days ago) and it seems you can’t finish your BnB combos most of the time and you got grabbed a lot o_O
So basically, you’re just going to ignore “theory fighting” or whatever until you see it in a real match? Great.
I forgot about that kind of private video thing, sure I’ll make one I got a few scrubs playing against my Sakuderp(blankas and kens I think.). And about your edit, I can maybe do her bnb 90% of the time offline, but online screws me up easily, I haven’t even played her for more than two days, it took me a week to get used to Dudley’s bnb online too before I could do it constantly. And I get grabbed a lot because that Dhalsim got me everytime.
Nah, I would like to see a video of someone using such techniques so that I have a better understanding of what to do… I said for the 100th time ¬_¬
Sure thing! Whenever you upload it is fine, because during your latest video I saw you didn’t crouch tech much and ended up getting grabbed/shoryu’d a lot more than I would so don’t understand why you’re teaching something you yourself don’t practice?
Hmmmm, don’t seem to be that bad on XBL o.o
Guess its a PSN thing
You got grabbed by everyone at least once and also that Ryu was scrubby and that Bison was messing around with you a lot especially on second round, surprised you barely scraped the win on that round
So basically, by your logic, a pro wrestling fan that knows absolutely everything about pro wrestling but can’t do that sport because of a weak body can’t teach/tell/help other people that want to know and do some pro wrestling? Doesn’t make sense.
I’m not saying I know everything either about Sakura or everything on how to deal with scrubs, heck since I started even more recently than you or probably anyone else on the sakura forums right now, so of course I know how to deal with stuff in THEORY, doesn’t mean I’ll have enough reactions/thinking in a match to apply it.
They can, if they explained better and/or showed proof… somehow… just want to see a video facepalm
Lads chilllll >_>
Lol… Lads…
Oh lawdsss
It’s like you’re from Ireland or something…
