I was thinking of s.MP, mentioned it before but it works great as a counter-poke since there’s no vulnerable hit-box on the striking arm. Just need to time it right (as soon as you see/hear him), can also hit him if he’s trying to fake it with a medium version sometimes.
oops, turns out i meant jaguar kick not tooth… c.hp is great vs tooth, but not so much vs kick, at least not the way I was trying it.
In the training room, with the dummy set to repeatedly do mk jaguar kick from the ground(since that’s what I lost to), I could stuff it with j.mp when I know it’s coming. I looked back at the replay and saw several times where I tried that and it didn’t work so I’m not so confident in that.
I am… I keep losing to the same dude in tournaments. =(
This salt will last for days btw.
But something really funny happened in our first match in winners. I won a game (first time) against him, he got the second, in the third game, on the 3rd round, he had little life, I had a lil more than a hp worth of life. I did mid range footsies into an ex-tatsu, it hit with the last couple of hits, I did the angled U2 and it totally whiffed Guy’s hitbox. That never ever happened with me before, talk about bad luck. Guy did quick rise and punished.
I tried to recreated the U2 whiff in training mode and I couldn’t. After some 50 tried with max range tatsu I only found one with CH on the last hit max distance into U2 whiff. But I don’t think that was what happened. I was playing on a 360 and with a converter on a regular HD TV. I wonder if something happen, I didn’t do the Ultra late too, Guy was sky high.
Did something like that ever happened to you guys?
The only explanation it seems that you were surprised that the ex tatsu hit and you delayed into doing the U2 hence the whiff. It happened to me once or twice.
I bet I’m worse than all of you! Wait, why am I grinning about that?!
Seriously though, I’m pretty blargh. Not just with Sakura (who may be my main; I’m leaning toward her but still not 100% sure), but the game as a whole. I’ve always been “pretty okay” at fighters, but haven’t put the time and energy to REALLY try to improve until recently. I have a long way to go, still trying to get a handle on things like matchups as well as physical execution, and I’d love to have more sparring partners! Either people who are better than me (shouldn’t be hard to find) who are willing to be patient with my basement level play and maybe offer advice, or people who are similarly low-leveled who also need practice. I hate when I get kicked out of an endless room because I’m too good and I’m not that good at all. Getting kicked out because I suck is more understandable.
I am the worst. No, really. The soundtrack to my misery of late has been JAGUAR TOOTH JAGUAR TOOTH JAGUAR TOO… KO! sigh
Adon makes me realise how scrubby I am, I depend way too much on focus attacks, which he blows up all day with his inexplicably painful normals, I fail to react fast enough to Jaguar Tooth, and everything he does is infuriatingly safe on block. I need to practice the matchup, but every time I try I end up raging at how I cant deal with J tooth ad infinitum. I know the problem is my own rather than the matchup, but damn
Mostly I am ok with losing, since I know what I should be doing, but dont do it. Against Adon though, I am fresh out of ideas to the point where when I beat an Adon player, its because he messed up and left himself open rather than anything i did. Besides block of course.
