The answer is not playing ranked at all. When I play ranked and lose to players I shouldn’t lose to I rage, like really rage and shout at my TV like I’m freaking darksydephil.
Therefore I play Endless. At least when I lose, my numbers don’t go down. No numbers to see fall, no need to rage and I actually learn because I’m less busy being pissed, more busy trying to figure out what I did wrong and what they did right.
I stopped playing ranked after I went from 1000 to 500 =|…I was just having a baaaaaaaaaad day.
It is easy to say “It is just online, it doesn’t matter, offline matters” but then you’re playing it and you’re like “WTF?!” because, still, that’s your pride right there.
i actually stopped playing online altogether for a bit. i have sessions at my house so i get more offline practice. i did start up again recently (got some games in against tbk [my game SUCKED… too much assassins creed and valkyria chronicles] and against joewpn [again i SUCKEDDDDD failed the basic combos which all of a sudden magically worked in training mode right after], but that was on psn to get use to the frame difference from xbox to ps3. but yeah, when i play online i usually go the 360 route, its just i dont play online much.
So true. Seeing my points go down like that made me want to quit the game almost. But playing Endless is such a joy, no stress from worrying about points so I get to try out different characters…like Makoto, who I wouldnt even think about using on Ranked.
I only play ranked when I am really bored and just want to play a bunch of matches back to back. I absolutely dont care about ranked points. I even did the C to Shining C which proves I dont care about points. But it is true, you will lose to stuff in ranked that makes you shake your head lol. Like that full screen ultra from Ryu that you some how didnt block or jump over!
I LOSE SO MUCH! IT’S SO ANNOYING! Especially those losses against really lame/turtle players. I got a 10 loss streak in endless battle and when I finally won, I lose the next fight. When I start using balrog, I start raping everybody. Sakura is so hard to use; I need someone to tell me what I should improve on.
I plan on ranting a lot in this thread probably after tomorrow when I get my HRAP Stick in the mail tomorrow. I’m gonna have to re-learn Sakura, and I’m sure it’ll take me at least a week to actually learn how to use a stick. I’ve been a pad player my whole life.
I can clearly say I suck, or I don’t feel like im improving at all. I do play ranked a lot. I have more bad days then good. Normally I get set up with players better then me more than half the time with more points… so I lose. Then players with little to no points… that are really good because points don’t matter… BUT THAT SHIT MATTERS WHEN YOU LOSE 120 PP in one match.
Maybe I should just stay away from ranked all together… but how would I know if im getting any better? I have no clue how to gauge progress. Meh…
Honestly, I hate that so much about Ranked mode. I lose 120 PP at least twice EVERY time I play. Trying to Stay above 3k PP is a big grind for me. Sure there are some good players now and again who deserve to win but they often don’t deserve that many points!
Example: 14k Blanka with 2800 PP vs My Sak with 3300 PP. I’m gonna lose 70+ PP if I lose and its likely that I will!
Of course I still go and lose to a random noob now and again.
Once I hit 15k BP with Sak I’m not using her in Ranked anymore. Few Rank A people play anyway and with good reason! It looks really easy to drop below 15k BP just as its easy to drop below 5k BP if you don’t up your game because the points system gets way harsher but the way people play doesn’t change. If you lose you are screwed. The number one rule in Ranked mode is DON’T LOSE DUMMY!
I’m gonna rank up Bison and Rose once I get Sakura through the mill. On 6.7k with Rose at the moment and 2.9k with Bison.
I had hoped to reach 4k PP by the time I got to Rank A with Sakura but I guess I just wasn’t good/consistent enough. My highest PP ever was 3672 PP.
Fcuk all this situational bull. Is there any logical reason for Sakura’s BnB to whiff on Akuma or Blanka!? What the fcuk. And why does standing jab whiff on a standing viper? :mad:
Absolutely. However, I know that whiffs and didn’t have the presence of mind to avoid it and that’s why I lost. :sad:
@Oni & Flowers: Yeah losing that much pp is annoying but I get much more frustrated at the losses themselves. I guess the points make those losses much more “real”.
I didn’t play ranked for a long time but I’m beginning to see it’s significance; If I end up going to tournaments, I don’t want to lose to some “xbl shit”. I don’t think staying away from ranked is helpful in the long run if you’re new to the scene, like me, and want to get better.
Ok so learning a stick is no easy task. So far I’ve just been practicing special moves, and just getting a feel of using a stick in general. I can hit mk -> shou about 4/10 times consistently, I have to get that number up.
It’s gonna be a while before I get back online to play. I need some of you arcade-stick people to spar with me in endless.
Shogun try getting an octo-gate… would prolly help out with the specials… for Sakura. I might try the stick again… but i would need a really really good friend to take my ps3 controls and hide them shits… somewhere locked in a safe.
I’ve been occupied in tech talk because I’ve been busy building sticks instead of practicing with them. Played my first ranked matches since Super came out and got my ass handed to me pretty readily, even by a jumping RH/Sweep scrub. I’ll add you on Live if you’re up for some sparring, really could use someone who’s not a total douche to practice with.
Was playing a Honda last night. I knew he was churning butter on wakeup, so I’m hovering over him on his wakeup to bait his U2, I pop light tatsu to set up a combo after his U2 whiffs for the win, I hear her say shinpukyak and predictably I see the ultra freeze. Apparently lk.tatsu doesn’t get off the ground as soon as I thought it did 'cause I got throwed. Honda takes the match.
Trying to do link practise in ranked/endless and keep getting DP’ed and I can do the links fine in offline but online I completely forget about it due to getting hit out of them and the different timing online
