when you made a backup but same goes for steam.
and at the end …you get old ass titles from other platforms on pc with ease.
cracked versions of popular games will always exist even when platforms go down.
Except when Steam as a service dies, then your games go with it. Keeping stuff is reliant on Valve’s promise to make address this issue if it ever comes to pass. Meanwhile, stuff you download from GoG is your forever. You can download your games, stuff them on a hard drive or disc somewhere, and then you can install them anytime, anywhere without the need for checking into some server.
Also none of the games on GOG will ever require server activation on a constant internet connection to work, and that part of GOG’s policy. Plenty of steam games have draconian DRM, some which crosses the line into malware territory
Really makes me wonder why lifeforms that live around 70-80 years on average in mid to highly developed countries, care so much about their shit being there “forever”.
Way I see it the comfort of Steam outweighs its potentially negative side effects.
not neccessary. there are already a lot of games which requires steam just for you to download the game.
you dont need to start it afterward to play it, you can go then direct to the exe.
same can happen with the other games when they shut down which will not happen in the near future based on how successfull they are.
and as i already said…nearly all steam games are cracked already and not bound to the steam so when the worst case scenario arrives you will
have ways to make your games being playable.
But end of the day, most steam games need activation and the steam app to acquire. GOG requires a web browser and you can burn copies to give away if you want
You wanna know why gamers are so filled with negativity? Because Capcom is a shit company-it’s always been this way. The only difference now is that everything is coming into fruition.
