Are gamers full of negativity? Why are there so many complaints in every game?

How did Blizz kill RTS games when they still game them?

Does turning Warcraft into an MMO count as killing it?

no.

it’s a black hole of death itself.

No Warcraft 4 is a sticking point with a lot of people. Everyone knows Warcraft from WoW now but Warcraft predated Starcraft and if not for the Warcraft 3 map editor we wouldn’t have MOBAs

They killed it when they made SC2 and totally took most of what made Brood War compelling to watch and play at high levels. SC2 should have revived the RTS genre, if it had succeeded. Instead, most veterans realized that it didn’t have the magic of what made Brood War worked, so they instead went back to Brood War.

SC2 is a good game. It is. The arguments I hear against it are the same as ST players complaining about SF4.

SF5 I understand, that game is hot trash in comparison but SF4 and ST are both really good games, they’re just different.

SC2 is a good game. It’s just not Brood War.

Their Warcraft IP is dead. World of Warcraft guaranteed we’re not getting a new game in the series IP.

Also everyone expected SC2 to be another Brood war and it wasn’t

The problem is that the players didn’t want just a good game, they wanted another Brood War. And even just from what has been written and said about it, you can see that it’s more than just one game being good or another being preferred. The differences between the two illustrate fundamental differences in the idea of what an RTS should focus on. Brood War, in part because of the jank in its engine, makes the genre more focused on execution and micromanagement. Meanwhile, SC2 is more about build order, and army composition. To put it in fighting game terms, it’s like going from MvC2, and then switching to SamSho 2.

Let me add some more points: Capcom’s culture has always been an awful place to make games and I played right into it just like everyone else. I overlooked a lot of questionable moves they made in the industry because they were putting out some top hits here and there. What really made me GTFO was the effort they put into Viewtiful Joe 2. I was like oh hell nahh, what is going on at that place?

Brood wars jank was beautiful.
You can do somee down right dirty moves in brood wars. Like the classic zerg rush tactic should never work, but the jank made work.

Warcraft 1 is where it’s at. The singleplayer is a hall mark.

Funny thing is the song reminds me of gearing up before rounds in counter-strike.

What if you accidentally deleted something that has long since been discontinued online for 3-4 years. How would you get it back?

That sounds like a genuine improvement in every category…

P.S. Finished going through Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker for the first time and I cannot believe what a massive waste of time that game was. I am convinced that Tingle character is some employee at Nintendo’s warning to prospective players to stay the fuck away. If only I had known what it meant before I wasted time or money on any of the trash that demented imp is in.

Hated it so much when I was still playing Wc3.
People would ask you what games you play and you say you’re into Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne, and those retards would answer: "Oh that’s nice, I got a sibling/friend/dog who plays World of Warcraft, and you just wanted to tell them to fuck off.

Define ‘discontinued’. Cause if you mean pulled off the servers than that’s a wrap. But as I stated I’ve downloaded games that were no longer for sale.

Foods for thought

Oh I been on point about the whole ‘super expensive’ games thing. Nah bitch it’s resolution whoring and marketing.

That’s a problem with many RTS games. There’s some tactics like tower rushes and zerg rushes, that are easier to execute than the counter to it, but if the counter and the rush are perfectly executed the rush always loses.
Hated that in Wc3. So much fucking effort to fight off a Human tower rush as Orc.

You can say the same things about ST and SF4. ST requires far tighter execution.

SF4 has more variety though, you have meter, you have more characters etc.

Brood War is lightning in a bottle. You can never hope to achieve perfect balance with a game like that which features huge variance in how the races play and somehow everything worked out perfectly for it, thanks to glitches and how much heart players poured into breaking the game down.

I’m so sad that SC2 ruined BW’s competitive circuit completely. Watching those Koreans play that game was a treat.
