Are colors too much of a grind fest?

I kind of like that some colors are hidden behind something that has a little challenge behind it. When you see someone rocking a certain color you realize the accomplishment behind it. That is cool. Personally for me, I just look and see what colors come from which challenge, then do the ones I want for the characters I play. I don’t need every color for every character. But if I see some “golden” skined ryu because he did the 100 survival challenge or some shit (made up example here) then neat for them. Maybe when Juri comes out and I want to dedicate that kind of time someone will see that skin and also think “damn, that guy put in some work for that”

Its the same reason I like the golden/legendary skins in smite. Cool accomplishments should be rewarded with cool shit that has no effect on the game. And COLORS (not costumes) is a perfect way to do that.

I wouldn’t mind the color grind if it wasn’t 10-30-50-100 (and they haven’t even revealed Extreme mode yet)

I actually like the supplement system and the chase for a high score… it just shouldn’t be so long.

Doing it for every costume wouldn’t even be that big of a deal if all the numbers were like… cut in half

I’m actually curious how many players have even completed survival on hard.

Because I’m not a sheep. I have my own opinion on the matter.

The number of battles for the higher difficulty are pretty rough. So survival is the only current way to unlock them?

Really the only thing I would change with the system is I feel the “easier” costumes should be obtainable on your way to the higher ranks. If im doing the hard mode and I get 10 wins, just give me the 10 win costume. Ive shown I can do 10 wins, and that would cut down on the grind for a lot of players.

I can respect your opinion. But that doesn’t change the fact that the method for unlocking these colors is ridiculous. If there was an alternative method, like completing their story or just getting the colors for playing them for so many matches, that’d be fine. Instead, we have players constantly playing 30-50 matches against inconsistent AI where depending on rng, they’ll either stand there and throw out a jab every 13 seconds, or will do full crush counter punish combos, and AA your jump the frame you press up, and dodge your command grabs into a full punish, and if you win, the game gives you a low life recovery. And if you lose, tough shit, gotta start from the beginning. Oh, and if the server DC’s, you’re fucked there too.

I mean, can anyone defend an AI Mika who EX air grabs me from half screen away when I’m not even jumping towards her? Or an AI Chun Li who does B.HP INTO SBK, something that shouldn’t be possible?

Someone made an observation somewhere on the forum but I felt there was some truth to it.

Survival is making me kind of worse at the game. I lost some casual matches because of the scrubby things I did against the AI that worked. Seriously made me pick up some bad habits. Also man come on, playing Survival with Ken with only Shoryu’s? How is that fun? Is that going to help me be a better player, or person? I would feel disgusting if I won doing that.

And this RNG Supplement system is worse than XCOM hit chances.

I might attempt all of normal tbh but after that I’m probably fucking off that mode for good.

Nothing unusual about that. Standing normals cancelled into down-charge moves aren’t that difficult…

if the Chun was charging before hand, it should be possible.

i just finished wasting an hour of my life trying to unlock Hard colors for Ryu for that yellow/red Shaun color. failed. not worth it ever again unless they address how bad survival is. i’m done.

No human alive can hit a cancelable move while already standing and cancel into a down up charge. It’s not possible.

Considering she did it from a standing position and didn’t crouch at all for the last several seconds, I doubt she had time to get a charge.

In 3s you could charge down, then move the stick to neutral (hit standing normal), then move the stick to up and hit your button to complete the down-up charge move.

I haven’t tested the FANG example but I’d bet the execution is similar.

Honestly I feel like there should be like 8 basic colors and then you can unlock some more badass ones via this mode if you want to. Right now, two basic color is rough. Granted colors are useless, I kinda like to have them.

I am no designer but I dont think colors are that hard to make for them.

I know of charge partitioning, but that requires you to store a charge at some point which didn’t happen in this situation so.
