ArcEye 2 LEDs - The Ultimate LED button mod!

That should be interesting. What was wrong with the round pin headers? And will the (square) female headers fit?

thanx buddy

I can appreciate doing it for the love of it… thats why I do it… lol… we’ll figure it out once it arrives from factory… just keep up the good work and keep promoting for us

i’ve attached the font to this post…

Im getting mvc3 and giving it a shot but no guarantees… i never played mvc2 and my old brain might not be able to handle learning a completely new fighting system… haha… i’m saving my brain power for mk9 lol

round pin headers were weak… you sneeze, they bend… square male headers will work perfectly and are stronger =D

What do you guys think of this design?

well the pace is much more frantic that ssf4 and there are many factors to every angle of this game, i am playing it for fun right now, but i doubt ill have the time to really get deep with it…so you are an mk fan too?! yeah thas the game im really really waiting for this year, got my KE reserved since last year…4.19.11 cant get here fast enough…and freshly revealed tsang and kano are lovely looking and lui kang got a really nasty version of his dragon fatality from the older games, i seriously cant wait for that…plus the combo system looks very intriguing as does the mechanics for the tag team playing…shit there has to be something great about it since its been anounced as an evo11 game…and i believe they’ve been consulting the some of the evo folks on how to make that game better for tournament type environments and high level play…im kinda of pissed because of the lack of proper media for the game still, and im not sure if i want to do my custom in a shade of akuma or ermac…

tho i feel not so much the site, but the people here are biased to the game already…so i might have to branch out to some other mk communities…but hey that might be a great opportunity to expose the strike-devices to new audiences…especially with madcatz doing a panel replacement for the te in a mk flavor, the teasystrike and other -strike devices might be great for them. i dunno just a lil food for thought. hey i might make a good publicist for you guys after all!

thanx for posting the font, will try to get that into in play later this evening

edit:

wow! that looks very nice indeed, as i stated before that capcom font looks so good like that! excellent use of available real estate on that tiny ass board…cant wait to start working on that  lol @ the lil fire logo and the “II” from street fighter two fame, you really outdid yourself again! are those vias underneath the solderpads? going with the octo shape instead of the circular? that should be cheaper right? awesome all the way around…im sure everyone else will agree too!

Love the SF2 “II” font and of course the CAPCOM font for your name.
Looking forward to throwing some in my next VAS!

Hehe… i hope the “flammable” logo turns out… hot shit!

Ya those are vias underneath the pads… this design is the cleanest i can come up with that allowed for dual headers, yet no traces to interfere with silkscreen (I dont like printing on top of traces)… the edges holding the pins have to be straight, and the resistors need to be angled 45 degrees to fit, so octo shaped is the most natural way to go… just having a little fun with the silkscreen =D

An update to those lurking around… all the parts except the pcb itself has been ordered… inching closer and closer… i think this will be a late march release…

tiny little board, and a relatively simple concept, but a lot of countless nit picking has gone to perfect this… its been tough because the tolerances for everything is so tight… and the factory error margin will affect center hole size fitment too… i’ve done my best to adjust for this, but theres only so much i can do when the difference of a tenth of a millimeter is enough to make the difference between too tight and too loose (factory has an error margin higher than that!)

my last prototypes were made with the center hole slightly offset (fab issue, not design issue), so fingers crossed for the final prototype (sent to the fab house this week)…

as i stated before, your designing of the boards are like a modern marvel and its pretty tiny to boot. the design is well thought out and highly functional. i can only imagine the headaches/nightmares trying to take all the variances into account. when i start looking at data sheets for specs and measurements for a particular part i want to model, its easy to over look the +/- 0.05mm variances, but depending on the actual item i might chose the upper or lower threshold of the variance and later adjust it if need be, but unfortunately you really dont have that option :expressionless: i hope you have a nice big jar of vasoline for those digikey fees :open_mouth:

in other random arc-eye news, i have finished a render for a fully lit arc-eye using my custom 3x0805 led (R,G,UV) combo. while the results are actually pretty good, i am a lil unhappy about how i arrived there. my initial intention was to use all the actual luminance values for each led, but it seems that either autocad or mental ray has some limitations on lighting. if i place a light source inside the lens of the leds the led itself lights up as one would expect it to. what happens is that no light escapes outside the lens and while the leds are bright it doesnt light up anything around them. so i resorted to faking the lighting ala unreal engine3 which actually works out pretty well producing a very realistic look, based off of the many pics of real lit up arc eyes that i am consulting. not exactly what i wanted to do but it worked none-the-less. the only thing that especially really sucks is the render of the a dim lighted room with a lit arc vs a fully lit room with an unlit arc. 4:52 vs 1:10 exactly (thas hours and mins). so i have to leave 1 rendering while i go to work, and unfortunately the mental ray in autocad doesnt allow me to batch my renders. would leave them to render over night while i sleep, but i barely get 4 hours or less of sleep. so the full set should be done by next week.

as i finish more models for all the things that will go into my custom i will be migrating my pipeline into 3ds max where i have more control and options to use better renderers  the finalized project might wind up having somewhere in the range of 350-450 items and that includes all the leds, resistors, pcbs, wiring ect. i almost shutter to think what the final polygon counts might be like, but as i anticipate running into troubles in the near end, like any project of this complexity, i have many workarounds in mind that will help me see it out through the end.

purplearms do you do this mod right now for people if we ship the stick to you?

Dunno if purp has the time to do mods himself. That said, there are quite a few people he can refer you to that will get r’ dun for you.

Well i havent even placed the factory order yet lol…

Gummowned will carry some arceye2 stock and offer them as an option as part of his joystick modding services. When arceye2 is out, drop him a pm and he’ll be glad to help u.

he lives! jk, oh my i have something a lil special to be sharing with you gentleman later this evening  just a lil post processing, meta tagging and uploading and the Arc-Eyes 1.2 (1.5?) Series 1 Render Set will be complete. That and a lil preview of me kicking things up a notch and taking it to the next level…

A lil slight delay…due to me having a blast getting my assed kicked online, by cough, cough, a purple armed fellow roams around through here  i had fun last night purps, glad to see you upped your pp so high! man i wasnt prepared, and so high too lol. marvel was the last game i had played and i was trying to throw you with -> H lol. no lag too that was sweet. so out tune doing c to shining c, man i hate makoto went from like 1900 to like 400 trying to level her. we have to do it again sometime! i swear i kno combos, i just forget to use them lol. im bugging…

anyways im done uploading, next post will be the good stuff

Finally here they be:

You can view the full flickr set here.

Choice high resolution versions can be found in my Deviant Art Gallery here.

Special Note: The reason i want to do 3x0805 smd leds is because i really need uv for the effect im trying to pull off with my custom, but i also want other colors. im hoping to use sparky pwm in sort of a RGuV way still to mix colors to get other colors, while still retain some sort of uv effect. also depending on the wave length of the light uv led emits it may actually appear closeer to blue, so its possible to achieve something very similar to the RGB colors. I kno soldering up all those tiny leds like that for all my damn arcs, if the idea actually works, will be a bitch, but worth it for the effect I want.

The lighting didnt come out as great as I hoped, but it will get better. When I get around to 2.0s, ill try to have the UV light affect the board and the scene more realistically. Hoping so anyways.

Sneak peak at my next set of renders, and is in no way a final render, the model is completely done and has been since december. This is actually first thing(s) I modeled and used to teach myself Autocad. Im just now finally getting around to rendering them, and these are turning out much better than expected:

This also help paint a slightly better picture of the whole scope of my project. Sparky PWM series 2 is next and currently under construction

Lol… nice playing you online…i hate blanka so much! lol

Wow very nice job on the renders! Thats so crazy! This is totally joystick pr0n!
I’m gonna have to use some of these images lol

you can use those images however you want, perhaps if you want certain angle, lit a certain color, resolution shit like that, let me kno and ill customize some renders for you, so they may be more effective for whatever you might want to use it on…ok im off to work, im mad late lol

Nice renders. When are you going to be finished installing any in your stick?

thank you again sir  you mean like the pcbs and stuff that i rendered previously into that render of the case? if thas what you mean, well little by little. my project knytemare prolly more ambitious the international slumber, by a big margin. so theres so much i have to do still, like the buttons (next after sparky pwm final), stick, masterstrike, mcc, leo2, arcs2, piiwii, wireless 360 pcb, sixaxis, rj45 nuetrik, case lighting, tekcase customizations, led case feet, screws, nuts, bushing, nuetrik connections and all the cords and connectors for the rj45, batteries, barrier strips, my secret pcb, all the art and etching, all the wire harnesses, and finish up the final scene where it all will be rendered in. prolly more stuff, but i’d need to consult my spreadsheet  he modeling part is easy for me, its the rendering part that really holds things up. things will take much long to render the more and more i add to a scene. now autodesk, has a really neat program called project neon that is currently a free cloud rendering service, in which i can preconfigure my file upload it to cloud and it can spit out a complete set of high quality renders faster than i can fart. i have tried to use this before, and my materials werent rendering out the way there were supposed to. i havent had the time to research why, but i need to find the time, because it can really save me a couple weeks of rendering time.

its crazy i kno, but since im rather poor at the moment, it really giving me time to plan and really think things through. it also affords me time to finish getting all the parts of which i prolly have about 30% now. chances are good that i will have the complete thing rendered out before i finish my custom and its planned that way, so i may figure out to organize the innards and tidy up the wiring. its also gives me the chance to try some new ideas with out having to commit to them physically with the real custom. once all the modeling and rendering stuff is finally done, there are so many things i can do with it. for example i plan have an audience with art hong to see if my completed assets for the case can be used to create a spiffy new customizer for the tekcases, the technology is there, its just the implementation thas a pain in the ass. but the way ive built these assets makes it dead easy to switch thing on the fly, such as maybe the color of a part, hole for nuetrik or not, different led configurations ect, ect. another direction i plan to take this when its done, is importing the whole damn thing (admittly a lot of work) into the Unreal Developers Kit and possibly creating a stand-alone app where one could configure their custom different ways and get a feel for what the final thing may look like. so many ways i can go with this, but alas i am just a man with a dream, like many other here. i just gotta work at it one step at a time

last but not least i do this for free and the love of the community and to give back to those who have inspired me. so far its been a definite learning experience and very fun for me. i am open to ideas or new concepts and i am willing to do commission work for anything that falls outside of the scope of the project, but if it falls in the scope, its def for free

spenz i def loved all the work and different things you did with slumber, much later down the line, when i actually have my case in hand, i would love to consult with you about some of the things you did
