ArcEye 2 LEDs - The Ultimate LED button mod!

sparky pwm

sorry for the late arrival. i was busy with work and all. fyi my next few installment videos will be how to install sparky pwm, te kitty, and more in depth of various other mods. also will to take input on what you all would like to see and i will get the product names right this time XP

I guess this means you got your box?

Just a quick question. I had that XBox 360 Tron Controller. It is now smashed (by a bi polar significant other), yet it still works. Rumble PCB took a crap, but the rest of it is still useful… What I wanted to know and i’m not sure where to ask this on SRK but, is the PCB useful to a modder since perhaps it has a special connectors for LED? I don’t know anything about Modding and how to with PCB’s and such. But that was the only thing I thought this useless controller might be good for.

that i did. thank you sir…i got lots of buttons and leds if anyone wants some or these sticks when i finish modding them…

Zeidust.
aslong as the pcb is not damaged u can still work with it. these leds wouldnt be ideal for a controller but getting small leds and hollow out the buttons will work.

It might make an interesting project… but if i’m going for a total custom, i’d be more inclined to write some code for sparky pwm to blink in whatever pattern i like…

Also i don’t think the wireless stick demand is high. Compared to wired controllers, there is input lag (bad for fighting games) and wireless controllers are banned at tournaments.

Hi purplearms. I was wondering if you could quickly just point out what I will need exactly?
Very soon I will be getting a Hori RAP VX SA, and my plan is to put custom art on it along with buttons that light up. Im confident with electronics, although I don’t know a great deal about them. I’m also comfortable with a soldering iron (i know your Arceye does require soldering)
I don’t plan to do any kind of dual modding as I only own an Xbox360. Could you point me in the direction of what buttons I will need along with what parts of your arceye mod I will need? clear Seimitsu’s right?

im from the UK btw, so if theres anywhere in the UK I can order the required parts from, that would be excellent.

Cheers

In the UK, i believe most people get their stuff from www.gremlinsolutions.co.uk or from akihabarashop.jp… I know gharling also runs a shop but the address slips my mind at the moment…

This mod currently works best with ps-14-k screw in type buttons (snap ins require a little dremeling). There is no soldering required for arceye2. It will come fully assembled if you order from me (uk shipping is just $0.50 more than my posted shipping rates) and comes with a cable harness for sparky pwm.

If you could kindly review the first three posts of this thread, i’ll be glad to answer any more questions you have after that =D

I wasnt meant to say “doesnt require soldering” stupid typo lol. The only other thing that slightly confuses me, is that you mentioned in the first post, that anyone not using a dual mod, would require a seperate mod for sparky pwm to work?

where can i find a sparky pwn? and are there any arc eyes left to order

http://sparky.32teeth.org/
32teeth is your man.

that is a yes and no answer question. there are ways you can get your additional wiring to have a connection without doing any soldering but i like soldering…but here is the deal. if you are working on a fightstick that is not dual modded aka just stock or oem. you might have to solder a few things or i personally would recommend it. becauase there is a gnd and power wire which is for the sparky board need to be tapped somewhere…the same goes for the button input wires. those will have to be tapped aswell. but again you can work around by not soldering…it works but i personally like a nice connection. i am unsure if i answered ur question. lmk if you need more clarification

Yes there are. Please review the first post of this thread for all the details =D

Well we designed a quick plug and play setup for teasy/teasy strike customers where you only need to plug in a ribbon connector from teasy (dual mod) to sparky (led controller) and arceye2 comes with a cable harness for sparky…

without the dual mod, you need to connect sparky to your button signals (it has screw terminals)…

and if you choose not to have sparky, you can try fgwidget (but it is not a RGB controller)…

you can also skip out on led controllers and provide +5v directly to the arc eyes… beware of usb current limitations (see 1st post)

It says the sparky jr is sold out is there anywhere else i can find it? or is there a different one thats available?

I suggest hitting up the sparky thread and letting your voice be heard!

Hi purplearms, first I just want to say I think this product and the cooperation you guys have going on (I’m a proud owner of 2 Teasy’s) is really cool. I’m curious about trying out a LED mod but I’m using a hitbox style stick now and noticed there’s no clear solution for 24mm. I do see Rollie has a clear “asian style” snap-in that I assume could replace my current sanwas (and take the switches from my sanwas possibly) but I wonder: has anyone found a good “workaround” for arceye’s to work with 24mm’s? If so, are there any pics/vids of how it turned out? Maybe the only choice is to position it underneath the button but I wonder how the wires and everything would obscure the light. Anyway thanks in advance for any info

Thanks for the kind words!

The rollie 30mm snap ins fit arceye2 and accept sanwa microswitches, so that’ll essentially be the solution for people who want the sanwa feel and want LEDs (Sanwa 30mm buttons wont fit arceye2 because the cap interferes with the pcb)

As for 24mm, unfortunately there just isn’t enough demand to justify making it right now… I’m more inclined to let ArcEye2 sell out naturally, then i’ll re-consider my options at that point.

Hey PurpleArms, I managed to finish programming my Arduino and wanted to share the results. Thanks so much in coming up with the ArcEyes; I’m looking forward to seeing what you come up with next once you’ve depleted your existing supply!

0:18-0:26 - After 30 seconds in inactivity on the joystick, the LEDs enter AFK mode which can be ended by pushing any button on the joystick. The color of the LEDs is whatever color the LEDs are set to, which by default, is red.

0:32-0:50 - Underside of the stick, showing off the PS360, the Arduino, and the wiring to the buttons and joystick.

0:55 0:59 - Default LED mode of the joystick. Simple light up LEDs when the button is pushed. Again, the default color set is red.

0:60 1:10 - Holding Back/Select for 2 seconds enters the menu mode. Once in Menu mode, moving the joystick changes the colors of the LEDs. From the top, working clockwise around the joystick, the colors are random, pink, red, yellow, green, teal, blue, and white.

1:15-1:23 - While in Menu Mode, pushing Strong changes to an LED Ripple effect when pushing the buttons.

1:34-1:38 - Pushing Fierce, changes the LEDs so that they are always on.

1:42-1:50 - Demonstration of random LED colors with the lights always on LED mode.

1:52-2:00 - Pushing Short changes the LEDs to be on and turn off when a button is pressed.

2:05-2:17 - Pushing Forward changes the LEDs into a ‘Street Fighter IV’ mode where pushing the buttons generates different colors based on what combination of buttons are pushed. Ex. PPP is green, KKK is pink, EX moves are blue, throw/focus/taunt are white, etc.

2:22-2:26 - Pushing Roundhouse turns off all LEDs, as well as the afk mode after 30 seconds of inactivity.

Probably be placing an order by Tuesday when I finally go up to my bank to pick up my new credit card (nothing spells fun like losing your old card!), though they’ll likely just sit in the bag till 32teeth finally releases the Sparky Jr + SparkPlug hopefully later next month!

Soon my precious stick, yes soon, soon you’ll be the cock of the walk! (aka; complete overhaul of my current stick, going from PS3/PC to 360/PS3/PC, removable cables, and of course, delicious LED buttons!)
