ArcEye 2 LEDs - The Ultimate LED button mod!

It looks right… did you connect the RGB cable to the correct pins? The one offset pin (4th pin on the 4 pin header thats not lined up with the 3 pins on the opposite side of the board) is the common pin that you should connect the black jumper wire to (i will be covering that in the next video, should be available tomorrow)… do you have a multimeter to test continuity? does the joystick work when you play?

Got my ArcEyes yesterday P.A. thanks a ton! now if these slow ass contractors would get finished with my house so i can move in all the way i can get back to stick making!

IS this how Sparky/ae2 should act on plug-in?

P.s. I know my lk harness is on backwards

mine does the same but only one row lights ups on start up. thats it. i figure just a re-flash will fix it since the buttons react fine

on startup only lk mk and hk are supposed to light up lol…

glad to see it got there =D

I have a PWN. Does the + go to the VCC & the - to the ground? And the MC works on both PC & PS3.

I used the harness and connected it to the pins that come from the bottom of the sparky. Should I cut & clip them and use the screw terminals? Also, yes the black jumper connected to the common screw terminals on the Sparky. No, multimeter but the stick works on both PC & PS3 (Practicing for CEO 2011!!!)

the leds are connected to the top of sparky, the button signals to the bottom… did you get screw terminals or pins or both? can you take a picture of the setup?

I’ll take one once I’m home. But I used the pins for the RGB and the screw terminals for the black common wire - They all didn’t fit in the pins together - they were too close. You think that’s why i doesn’t work?

umm… i dont quite understand what you mean by way to close… a pic would help…

i’m rushing to get the rest of the install videos up this week

So here the pins at the under the board were to close together.

Here the RGB is connected to the pins under the board (they normally are fully inserted but I pulled on it to take the picture) and the black common wire is in the terminals. Should I cut the harness of and use the terminals instead for the RBG wires?

destinydmm - Have you attempted to use the configuration editor at all? The cycle of red, yellow, green, white is what it’ll do when you attach it to the computer and run the editor (I think it does that on power up anyway, can’t remember). After it does that you hold all three kick buttons and they should turn red I believe, after that you select your COM port in the editor and start picking your scheme.

Try using the configuration editor and seeing what happens.

Also, with everything hooked up and powered on, take voltage readings on the “Common RGB LED Leg connector” terminals.

I’m surprised you cut the black headers off and put them in the screw terminals… you could have just plugged them into the pin headers?

In any case, that part looks correct… and as phreakazoid mentioned, as soon as you plug in power, 3 kicks should start changing colors (thats boot mode)…

How about a picture of how your harnesses are connected to your arc eyes?

I’ve finished filming video 3 and will be uploading it tonite…

I tried putting the arc eyes into the seimitsu snap ins. The AE doe not flush into the bottom of the inner button. There is a border that meets with the plunger and will probably require to shave some spots on the border (and partial of the push tabs) or else the plunger itself will hit the AE circuit.

well the next step is to figure out how to wire these bad boy arceyes up to a Fwidget pcb…

2 things to check.

  1. you are using arc eye 2 so you need to have the jumper pin ON
  2. based on the colors order i see in the video yellow, red, cyan/purple, you have your RGB lines reversed. it should be red, yellow, green.

easy fix

My jumper hole is soldered closed

Any ideas? Solder them together?

I had to, the pins were too close together so they didn’t fit with the headers.
And the 3ks do light up, red, yellow then green. Then off. After that nothing

connect the + of the arceye to the *_OUT of the LED controller and connect the R G or B to Ground?

Wow, that’s odd. Surprised I sent it out like that.
Yes, simply solder a wire from one hole to the other. Done and done.
Or if you have a jumper, solder that
