Its really not KOFXI is a joke, its just people more than likely are focusing on whatever games are gonna be for SBO.
G.Blaze- Thats an excellent question. I am a huge fan of the Virtual On series.

Actress Again FTW!
I don’t buy TvC’s rank on this list at all.
I’m guessing that Arcadia calculates popularity and income based on a sample of only a few arcades. This is the same way that a stock index works, instead of meticulously and manually accounting for everything, you use a (hopefully) representative sample and extrapolate it.
Whatever arcades that Arcadia used must have a way higher percentage of TvC play in them than the national average of arcade judging from all of the anecdotal evidence I’ve heard of TvC’s lack of popularity. I heard that TvC was so unpopular in some arcades that they got rid of the game and sold the boards off. How it ranks even in the top ten is astonishing.
VO: Oratorio Tanagram is getting an XBLA port in the spring, complete with online play and colour edit mode. It’s ver 5.66 of the arcade version, which was the last one I believe. Better than nothing.
lol whats wrong with them Tekken on the 1st place?:looney:
Hating on Tekken is so 5 years ago.
Say something about Smash so we can get this thread started.
I thought that being in the top 6 for like half a year and still counting would be a sign of…uh…success?
He probably thought SF4’s popularity went crashing down or something like that. I don’t know.
Eh, not really.
Looks to me like Blazblue and SF4 completely replaced GGAC and 3S already considering BB and SF4 are pulling the numbers that they were pulling a year ago at the end of their prime.
Yeah because the Japanese want sprites.looks at #1 game. Maybe SFIV isn’t getting played as much because the ARCADE version is obsolete? Oh no can’t be that, gotta be the sprites and butt hurt SF3 fans.
cool the sf4 hater vs the sf4 apologist
sf4 hasnt been #1 the whole time since the game came out in arcadia magazine iirc… doesnt mean its not popular (in major cities tho)
woot at S! AH2 climbing back up on dat list due to the patch
This is quite true.
You guys need to keep in mind that SF4 won Arcadia ‘2008 Game of the Year’ by huge margin of reader votes (T6 was second, and AH2 was third). Coin op ranking doesn’t necessarily break things down by player demography.
If popularity vote was taken on a generic U.S. game site, probably SC or DOA would win the ‘most popular fighting game’ title. The result would be much different if votes were taken on SRK where higher ratio of the voters will be hardcore players.
Do you know if card purchases count towards the revenue in the scores?
Im not hating on tekken its just weird that tekken 6 is on the 1st Place.
I think arcadia wanna hype tekken 6 nothing more.
Uh…the only month that Tekken wasn’t in first place was the month that arcade operators were changing the machines and updating them with Bloodline Rebellion or whatever.
Tekken 6 is popular…very popular in Japanese arcades. The only conspiracy in Aradia is that TvC is even in the top 10. Tekken 6 will be #1 for a long time.
You, and a lot of other people have completely missed the point of SF4. It was meant to be a resurrection, moreso than HDR was. I also like how you ignore the success of kof02. Whatever, you’ve never been a solid poster in the past, and I doubt anything will change now.
And I’ll be holding you to your claim there, just so we can see you eat your words later. You do NOT understand how the industry works.
There is NOTHING wrong with T6 being in first place, there are few arcades without at least one T6/BR machine in their arcade. T6 basically prints money for arcades willing to get a kit, kinda like im@s, Gundam, and the rhythm games. Tekken has had a grand resurgence since Tekken 5, but people love to hate on a game that even with its flaws is still great fun to play at any skill level.
Nice, deep, informed opinion full of points that describe what is so bad about the gam-OH WAIT
No, they don’t.
Wrong. You also have no idea what Japanese arcades are like. I’m serious, having the latest Tekken game in an arcade there pretty much guarantees business for that arcade. It’s been this way since Tekken 5 dropped. Kinda like having a MvC2 cab more or less gets you foot traffic in the US(more like DDR, but we’re keeping this in the FG scope).
Come on man. Representative sample beats random anecdotal evidence any day of the week. The only way to prove them wrong is to make a deeper research. Their method works for the stock market for God’s sake
And you called it the only conspiracy in Arcadia. That’s not very reasonable. I don’t know your agenda, but you’re pretty random right now IMO
I’m serious. XI is an awful game, it was a nice try, I wanted to like it, but then after I played it for awhile it was just like, “Why am I playing this, 98 is way better and more polished”
Yeah, now just bring an AH2 scene to me please.
first of, ssf2t hdr isnt even that good of a game. i dont even understand why you mention it in the same sentence as sf4 to beging with. and sf4 with all its fame (mainly cause its 3d, you know im right about the western countries) isnt all that its suposed to be. im not gonna write an essay explaining my views to you, have your own opinion and ill have mine, thank u.
P.S. dont even try to tell me shit about kofs. my point was that kof never really got better AFTER 98. 98 was the last kof with the complete package.
-99 is horrible, strikers are messed up, moves been fucked, game just wasnt
complete. at least it looked good.
-00, the year shit also started looking ugly, striker system improved and game improved a lil bit over 99, small differences made it better than 99.
-01 was actually quite fun with all the combo possibileties and and striker options. but shit was mad ugly.
-02, the japanese where so glad that kof finally returned a lil bit to its roots. probably why played it more than the other kofs after 98. its actually pretty good from a balance point of view, but the shit is ugly as hell. also BC mode is something i didnt like a lot.
-03 sucks, some nice things in it but it sucks and looks ugly.
XI looks ugly as well, and the play was also better in 02 compared to XI IMO. but the game played pretty decent, the controls where tighter than ever and everything really felt smooth. but the character selection, wtf. some of the nicest where only ps2 exclusives, not even in the arcade version. too many shitty characters in it.
