It’s quite refreshing to see Vega overestimated for a change. Can’t recall seeing another tier list we’re he’s actually in the right half (as in, the top) instead of scraping the bottom with Dan, Hawk and Hakan. As flawed as the list may be… Still nice. I don’t get this “MY CHARACTER FUCKING SUCKS”-craze (check the tier list thread, it’s mad fun). My character is fucking slightly above average.
Everyone is worse than their Super counterpart - Vega is one of few were you can actually argue the opposite.

I think Vega’s top 15 at least, personally. Not top 10 though, in my opinion. But I think he has the tools to beat out some top contenders, like Viper, Seth and Akuma, and has a very solid gameplay that is VERY hard to beat if he’s played flawlessly.
He’s up there, but I don’t think he’s A-Tier. I would sooner put Dictator there before Vega.
Definite underestimation of Chun, she has a lot of potential. She just requires effort.
I’m still a bit mind-fucked about Adon though. I’ve never actually played a GOOD Adon that didn’t Jagga tooth all day into my air throws. So there could be something there. shrugs

Definitely. Considering the time and strategies spent to overcome Claw’s weaknesses, i just can’t imagine in what way he would tier above characters who have answers ready since the beginning.

I’ve faced a B+ one, which almost never used that move.
Instead, he mixed-up EX Jaguar kicks (overhead ones) with light kicks and throw, and crossed me up all day. He has damaging combos, comboable ultra, and footsies almost matching those of claw. You can get quickly wiped out with two errors, and he can pressure you safely enough to get those mistakes.
Not a top tier, but definitely not to be underestimated. =)
Final Round had a lot of good Vegas almost all the best in the States were there. I definitely feel like he’s top 15 or so now in this game seeing Tatsu play and hearing about Luger running shit in the Tampa room (exploiting my Vega training).
I’m mostly referring to the facebook group, where all they do is complain about the character. It’s the reason I left.

Seth is actually very solid. So I don’t see why a Seth players feelings couldn’t be considered? Just because he has piss-poor health doesn’t mean his bullshit mixup and OS potential doesn’t make up for it.
I tell a lie, I have played one that was decent, I was generalizing. He is damaging but he’s like most, with patience and good reads, he’s manageable. I wouldn’t say he’s S-tier though.
Cammy, I can see why, not from the perspective of a Vega either. Even without normal CS being TK, she’s still a beast. Her normal buffs definitely made her ridiculous with her frame trap potential.
While I would say Viper is 5-5 for Vega, if not slightly in Vega’s favour if you’re fast on your thinking, I would seriously put her near the top. Fuerte too.
There’s plenty of mindfucks in that list to give me a headache for a very long time. I’m just gonna get on with learning everything in AE and not give a shit about tier lists…not that I ever did to begin with. Tiers don’t matter if you’re a good enough player.

Of course tiers list don’t tell everything and a certain room of error must be taken in account (they still are subjective, simply done by a lot of people). But still, this one looks more reliable than Kazunoko’s jokes… =)
Some things interesting to notice :
— Claw is lower than I thought. Still his bad match-ups are fewer/less bad than vanilla, but he still feels the nerfs from AE compared to super
— Ryu is only A tier
— Yun hasnt fallen that much
— I would have thought Gouken, Chun-li, Cody and Sakura would be higher than they are

Sakura is definitely underrated. I would say Rose is too. Just because she lost Soul Satellite doesn’t mean she’s crap. Whoopdie-do she lost a braindead wakeup option that can be baited as easy as DP. Fireball invul crap went through U2 in a heartbeat.
Ryu will be A-Tier near the top so long as he still has his half-a-screen-away crMK to counterpoke everything.
I’ve always thought Viper was near the top. She’s another underrated character because of the execution requirements needed.
Could’ve told you for free that Yun still has braindead mixup and pressure so no, he really hasn’t fallen.
Cody’s good, don’t get me wrong. He felt really strong at the start of AE2012. But he’s still got a lot of weaknesses.
I think Vega is the only character in the entire cast who can be A-tier on one list, mid-tier on another, and bottom-tier on yet another list, and have it be said that his place on all three tier-lists makes sense.
I think a lot of those matchups are way off. Vega wins a lot more matchups than that.
For one, I think Seth is free to Vega, not to mention Honda and Guile (okay, maybe Guile is even, but Honda’s most def NOT a losing match). I think Abel’s even and Juri is in Vega’s favor.
Feels like whoever put this together doesn’t really know Vega. They boiled it down to: Can they turtle? 4:6. Can they rushdown/mixup? 4:6. Are they considered a really bad character? 6:4. Else, 5:5 shrug That’s just me. Vega’s not as helpless as everyone makes him out to be though.
In every tier list I’ve seen she is always mid-tier. Furthermore and more importantly, I don’t see in what way she lost Soul Satellite : unblocables, comboing and anti-cross-up U2 tools are always here. You just have to use it more wisely as it is not invincible, but it’s still only 5 frames startup. ^^
I don’t know what kind of Seths your playing against, but if indeed backslashs/backdash are great to avoid command throw, once they learn to wait them/OS them things get a lot harder for Claw. Seth air pressure is very quick, and Claw hasn’t real quick anti-airs to counter them. To me it’s even.
Just look at El Cubano loco vs Filipino tournaments, Seth has so many options that just FBS isn’t enought to dominate that versus.
Claw has one of the shittiest defenses in the game. His wake-up game is dramatically bad against opponent OSing backdashes. And he has very few advantageous versuses.
He’s not helpless once on his feet though, we agree on that. And his offense is wonderful, though hard to master. =)
Don’t talk to many Rose players do you? XD So many Rose players were like “Shes practically useless without U2 now =/” when the nerf dropped.
It’s pretty even. If Vega can keep him out, there’s little problem. Seth’s teleport, like Dhalsim’s, isn’t the be-all end all free-getin. It has recovery that st.HK likes to hit.
Vega doesn’t NEED Anti-Airs to win. Just learn to block. It’s pretty simple. Vega players should know how to block anyway.
Also, Seth can OS backdash and flip. So yeah, don’t bother. I’ve played some pretty decent Seth’s lately that have taught me to not backdash on him, like ever. You’re better off neutral jumping if you can read the command throw.
You’re playing the wrong character if you don’t have good defense. Vega is not helpless. He just requires you to use your head and be observant on wakeup to make up for the options he doesn’t have.
